Good night, sleep tight, don't let the magic mirror bite....

It was supposed to be the best sleepover ever. Just me, my best friend, Robin, and an awesome night of s'mores, secrets, and staying up late. No pesky little brothers allowed. And DEFINITELY no magic mirrors.

Everything was perfect...until the mirror sucked Robin into Sleeping Beauty's story! My brother and I dove in after her, but we couldn't stop her from pricking her finger on the spindle. Now we're REALLY in trouble. Robin's fast asleep--and Sleeping Beauty is wide-awake! To save the day I've got to:

- Host a fake birthday party for Jonah
- Find a prince to wake up Robin
- Avoid getting cursed by scary fairies

We only have ten hours to make things right...or this day will become a nightmare!

In this fourth installment of the series, Abby learns to more fully appreciate the present, rather than always wishing for the future. When her sleepover friend Robin sleepwalks through the Magic Mirror, Abby and Jonah follow and end up in a tower with a spinning wheel. Yep! It's Sleeping Beauty time. As with previous books in the series, before they know it the fairy tale is not following its traditional path. As they work through the challenges of "fixing" the story and getting themselves back to Smithville, they realize that the way the original version could use some improvement. By the end, all of the characters have a happy ending -- except for the villains that is. Abby also learns that the grass is not always greener in other families. Ever wish for a teacup crocodile that can do karate? You might want one after reading this book. These fairy tale makeovers are so much fun and help the reader to think through the dynamics in the story without being preachy.

This book is a great book for people who are into fairytale princesses especially from Disney. It is based off of the Disney princesses, but mixed around a little. This is one of the six books in the series. It is the fourth one. Yes I will continue to read the series. The main character is Abby who has her best friend over or a sleepover and her name is Robin. Abby's little brother Jonah is in the adventurous and exciting adventure with them. I would suggest reading this book because it is an amazing written book with many funny twisted parts. I think it is one of the best ones so far.

In this book Abby is having her friend Robin sleep over at her house. After they went to bed, Abby woke up a few minutes later and noticed that Robin was gone. She runs to her brother Jonah's room and tells him. They both run to the basement and when they opened the door Robin gets sucked into the mirror. Abby and Jonah go in after her. They end up in a castle, in a room with a needle. They find Robin and before they could say anything, Robin touched the needle and fell into a deep sleep. Abby and Jonah started to worry. Now Robin wouldn't wake up for a hundred years. Just then Sleeping Beauty came and saw them. She wanted to help, but she didn't know how. They asked Sleeping beauty if she knew a prince and she said that she had a brother who was a prince. The prince kissed Robin on the cheek, but it didn't work. The prince left and Abby, Jonah, and Sleeping beauty just stayed there thinking of a way to wake up Robin. Finally after 20 minutes, Sleeping beauty's mother called her and Abby and Jonah went with her. When they came back for Robin she was gone. They looked all over the castle and they finally found her in a bedroom fast a sleep on the bed. Abby was shocked that Robin could sleep walk. It was getting later and they had to get back home. So, they went home with Robin still fast a sleep. A few minutes later they were in their basement again and Robin was still a sleep. Just then there was a knock on the door. It was Robin's mother. Will Abby and Jonah be able to wake her up in time? If you want to find out, then read the book.

I didn't really like this book because it is boring and not that interesting. I don't really like what happened with Sleeping beauty at the end. I did like how Abby and Jonah wouldn't leave without Robin. This book is about friendship and princesses and if you like that then I think that this is a great book for you.

This time for Abby and Jonah, Abby's sleepwalking friend Robyn joins with them and instead is pricked by the spindle of the spinning wheel meant for Sleeping Beauty who's called Breanna in this one, only the catch? Robyn used up all of the magic and of course the story of Sleeping Beauty needs fixing. Without giving too much away, this was super adorable as always, still loving cute little hilarious Jonah who's obsessed with ketchup and now he's wanting to wish for from a fairy or few.....a crocodile who can do Karate ;)

I felt like the book was taking me into a world of magic and mystery. I also loved how the kids got to journey into fairy-tales each time.

Six years ago I read a few of these stories with my oldest. Now my youngest is reading them to me, and her sister has handed down the first several stories in the series. We had started reading them in 2016 but my oldest skipped around a bit and read a couple of volumes to her Aunt and Grandma while on a road trip. So this was my first time encountering this specific story. My youngest insists we review everything that we read togtehr, so this review from 2022 is part of that effort. Between reading with my oldest and youngest this is the eleventh time I have read a book in this series. The stories have great staying power. Even as an adult I can enjoy these books, not only the first time but rereading them again and again.

Mlynowski does a wonderful job with this book and the whole series so far. My oldest was a reluctant reader. Back then when we read, I would read two pages for every page she read to me. The whole family loves these stories from 8-years old to 80 years old. It is a great series. The stories are fun and entertaining, but also have some valuable lessons and insight.

My youngest daughter and I give this story a solid 5/5 stars. We always enjoy Mlynowski’s twists on the old tales. And the lessons of appreciating what you have and is in front of you, as opposed to just hopes for a different future really hit both of us. In this story it was less about Abby learning a lesson and the princess. It is a story that will foster a spirit of appreciation and thankfulness. There is a little more action in this story than some of the others, including a fake birthday party for Jonah. And avoiding curses from scary or angry fairies. And finding a prince to wake up Robin whose sleep walking during a slumber party launched this adventure.

The story is another amazing take on a familiar tale. The writings in these stories is excellent. My daughters and I love reading them together. And the retelling of this story surprised both of us. It is a great book in a wonderful series.

Happiness is important. Also, can we all agree that the word commoner should be erased from history?

I almost forgot to mark this one as read this year!

Once again I listened to this on audiobook. It was interesting, but I must admit it wasn't as good as the other three. I had a hard time connecting with the character that was supposed to be Sleeping Beauty. To be honest she annoyed me more than anything and really showed how ungrateful she was about having everything she could have ever wanted. I still loved Jonah and Abby, but this wasn't the right fairytale world for me. I also found that I didn't particularly care for the fact that the best friend was thrown into the mix. We don't really know much about her so it was sort of awkward for her to be taken on this adventure. Nevertheless, I will be continuing the series and hopefully finishing up sometime later this year.

- This one wasn't as charming as the others. I was a little disappointed.

- The resolution and story wasn't as clever as the other books.

- I liked the message of the book. We should appreciate what we have. Great message for anyone.

- I was hoping Robin would become part of the magic mirror secret.

- These books would be a fun TV show. Each book could be an episode.

This book is my favorite Whatever After book, because the story was so exciting. I couldn’t put it down. The characters plan a great party for one of the main characters.

A fun and unique twist on Sleeping Beauty with a great message about treasuring what we already have instead of yearning for something else, and making our own happiness. Very cute. My 8 year old loved it. I did not like the audiobook narrator, but whatever.

This was a really fun story! It had some elements that were different from the past books in the series.

When Abby and Jonah travel to Sleeping Beauty’s story, Abby’s friend Robin ends up going with them. The problem was that when they got there, Robin pricked her arm on the spindle that was meant for Sleeping Beauty, aka Bri. Robin fell asleep instantly, taking the spell that was meant for the princess. The kids had to figure out a way to wake Robin up and fix Bri’s story.

Some of the parts didn’t go as smoothly as they did in the other stories. They planned a birthday party for Jonah in order to get wishes from fairies to save Robin. However, that didn’t work out when the fairies discovered that it wasn’t actually Jonah’s birthday. They had to find another way to fix their problems.

I was glad to see more of Abby and Jonah’s real lives in the story. Even though Abby’s friend was asleep for most of the story, I liked hearing about her friends. Up until this book, we only really heard about their adventures in fairy tales. There was even an addition to the family at the end of the story, who I believe will be making appearances in later books too.

This was a fun adaptation of Sleeping Beauty! I’m excited to read the next book!

I think this was a fantastic book! I rated it 5 stars because it was so interesting! I never wanted to put the book down! This book is about a girl named Abby, her brother Jonah and her best friend Robin. Robin and Abby have a sleepover, but can't find Robin in the middle of the night! They were really worried that she found the magic mirror in their basement, so they ran down to see if she was there. And there she was sleepwalking right into the mirror! The mirror started to hiss, and swirl! Then Robin got sucked into the mirror! They knew that they couldn't just leave her in there so they jumped in with her! They realize that they're stuck in Sleeping Beauty's story after they see the magic spindle! But then they see Robin sleep walking right toward it! They try to stop her but it's too late! Instead of pricking her finger she pricks her elbow! She starts to yawn then falls asleep on a bed. They realized that in Sleeping Beauty's story she pricks her finger and falls asleep for a hundred years! Will they be able to save Robin? Or will they be able to save her before her mom picks her up the next morning? Read the book and you'll find out!

Good lesson

Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first 2. It was okay, but the "Sleeping beauty" in this version seemed so....ungrateful.
Like Fiona in Shrek, she seemed to know about her curse and dreamed of the unknown prince that would kiss her. But she was SO focused on that, that she kept insisting she was "unhappy" and wouldn't be happy until her prince claimed her.
She didn't appreciate anything she had, her brother was a spoiled brat, and she belittled even her best friend, calling him "just a commoner". She was willing to lose everything for a boy she didn't even know.
Her attitude though taught Abby that she shouldn't be like that either. That she should appreciate what she has and enjoy the moment, not focus so much on the future that she doesn't enjoy anything in the present. Good lesson, but still....didn't like a few characters that just seemed so rude and depressing 🤷‍♀️

this is my least favorite of the whole series I think. i have a huge bias against robin (im a frankie lover) so her prescence sours this whole book for me. i love imagining the treehouses and the towers and the rosegarden though. and i love when bree learns how to ride a bicycle. this book makes me grateful i dont have a younger brother, because one like felix would be awful. anyways, i just dont love this one as much for some reason - which is weird because sleeping beauty is my favorite disney princess....

Such a good book. I still can't believe that Robin actually sleepwalked down too Abbys basement and then down those steep stairs from the tower. You would think she would have slipped off and like broke her neck or something. Princess Briannas little brother Felix is adorable and at the same time completely annoying. I mean come on what kid makes a 7 year climb up super steep stairs with him on his back?
