Learn all about dinosaurs with Fly Guy and Buzz! Fly Guy and Buzz are ready for their next field trip! And in FLY GUY DINOSAURS they visit a natural history museum to learn all about dinosaurs. With straightforward text, humorous asides, and kid-friendly full-bleed photographs throughout, young readers will learn lots of fun facts about these prehistoric creatures. Award-winning author/illustrator Tedd Arnold really brings nonfiction to life in this fun nonfiction reader!
Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.
He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.
He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.
We love reading the adventures that Buzz and Fly guy have. In this story we are learning about dinosaurs. We get to learn how big some dinosaurs where, what paleontologist do, we get pictures of dinosaur bones and so much more. This is a fun read for those that not only like dinosaurs but also that enjoy reading about Fly Guy. A great science book.
Awesome, why didn't I know about this for my dinosaur unit?? Full of actual photographs and drawings with labels, pronunciation guides, and comparisons between modern animals and prehistoric ones for comparison. It even addresses how pterosaurs were not dinosaurs; a fact forgotten by media and toy companies everywhere. Definitely a classroom library must.
1. Too Many Dinosaurs by Mercer Mayer. 2012. Holiday House Incorporated. 2. I chose to include this book with Fly Guy Dinosaurs because in the book it shows how a dinosaur hatches from an egg. It also shows the behavior of a dinosaur and shows different examples of multiple kinds of dinosaurs. Just like Fly Guy shows dinosaur eggs and different types of dinosaurs, this story portrays the same concepts but in fiction form because we all know we can't have a pet dinosaur. 3. Combination: Description, Cause and Effect, Compare and Contrast 4. To engage the students to make connections, I would create a KWL chart with the students. I would first read Too Many Dinosaurs with the students and create the K (what do they know). Here I would activate their prior knowledge by asking what they already know about dinosaurs. Next, we would create the W (what do they want to know), students would ask questions and make comments on what they still want to know. After reading Fly Guy Presents Dinosaurs, we would visit the L (what did they learn) and write in connections they made from their own knowledge to what they learned by reading more facts about dinosaurs.
This is a GREAT book for kids to explain everything dinosaur. It is easy-read with pronunciation guides for the bigger and unfamiliar words. It goes over the time periods, different types of dinosaurs and their habitats.

A great informational book for young ones to learn about dinosaurs. My son has really hit this science streak lately so I have been pushing scientific books for children at him on whatever subjects he brings up. Now on to the space books and frogs! Seriously though this was fantastic!
I found this book to be extraordinarily difficult to read. There was good information here, but the format didn't work for me. Plus, the insistence on teaching that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago even though there is no conclusive proof of this theory, bothers me.
It's summer time, so that means my life just got a whole lot of hectic. All of my kids are home all day and needing things to do. So we are busy reading and having fun. Which leaves very little time for me to write reviews. So sorry. Lots of book reviews are on their way...and I mean a lot.
So a little background on this book. Miles (six years old) found his first Fly Guy book from the school library and really enjoyed the books so much he started to check them out more frequently. Well, this summer I found out that they have non-fiction books as well that uses the famous characters Buzz and Fly Guy to tell what things are about.
So we checked out "Fly Guy Presents: Dinosaurs" by Todd Arnold. In this book, Fly Guys and Buzz go visit the Natural History Museum to learn all about dinosaurs. The test is straightforward with some of the humorous sides. It's kid-friendly and has actual photos with illustrations on the side.
Miles and I read this together to learn about dinosaurs. He was really excited because Buzz and Fly Guy were in the story. The text was a little over his level at six years old but I really liked how they helped with some the pronouncing of the bigger words. I loved that they had so many vocabulary words for him to learn about. He really enjoyed the pages about fossil dinosaur poop. Not only does it have illustrations of Buzz and Fly Guy throughout the book but it actually has photographs as well. It's a great story and really kept the interest of Miles.
Put Fly Guy together with dinosaurs and you have a happy kid. My son loves Fly guy books and he is always ready to learn something new about dinosaurs. The book has a mixture of the fictional characters from the Fly Guy series with fun pictures, but when it comes to the dinosaurs and dino facts, the author made those pictures non fiction. It was great to see the fun characters enjoying learning about dinosaurs through real pictures. Since dinosaurs do not have the easiest names to pronounce, the book has the phonetic writing to help young readers say the word phonetically if they are reading solo. It was a great book with lots of pictures and good facts.
Fly guy presents dinosaurs is great for kids that love science. It shows some dinosaurs that they may like!!! One reason you should read Fly guy presents dinosaurs because it teaches you about dinosaurs!!! For example scientists have discovered 700 dinosaurs but not all dinosaurs have live at the same time. Another reason you should read this scientific book is because it like the FLYOSAURZ! Oh I mean tyrannosaurus rex. For example the tyrannosaurus rex makes this noise (tuh-ran-uhs SAWR uhs reks) the stegosaurus makes this noise (sten-gun-SAWR uhs…) In my opinion I thought this book was amazing for kids that love science books.
Fly Guy and Buzz go to the museum to see the dinosaurs. They learn a lot and Fly Guy gives his version of dinosaurs.
I liked this. I learned a lot about dinosaurs and the difficulties in discovering them and putting them back together, if possible. I liked that errors were admitted during the discoveries and new information was found.
I am enjoying this series. I hope my great-nephew does also.
Dinosaurs by Ted Arnold is a fun, informational book for children grades K-3. There are all sorts of facts about dinosaurs, where you can go to learn about them, and Pangea. The twin text I chose for this book is "Have You Seen My Dinosaur?" which is the same age range, but is a story about a little boy's pet dinosaur hiding from him.
The Fly Guy series has always been one of my favorites to read to the children I babysit. This book along with the other Fly Guy books gives lots of information while skill making its readers smile. I love that the book really made me feel like I was in a museum with Buzz and Fly Guy!
December 2017 - Fly Guy and Buzz are mostly in the background, and the focus is on easily accessible information about dinosaurs. It gives a good overview and has a combination of photos and illustrations. Ben asked for it a few times.
My son is 6 years old and loves all fly guy books! We read fly guy books over and over again. It’s great for beginners read group working their way up the levels
I liked this book because it showed that the world was just one giant continent called Pangea. I had heard about this but I didn't know it was true. I liked how the dinosaur eggs were the size of a football. Football is my favorite.
