Tyrian's Mist

Rate this book
A soul divided by race and hate due to his breeding, a bloodline born of angelic purity and driven by his vampire lust for blood, Tyrian is a half breed from a union forbidden and feared. He is rescued as an infrant by a Guardian's guide, Daira, who stows him away safely hidden within a valley hidden from the depravity and misconceptions of man and shrouded by mists. In the valley far from humans and among others of different breeds, Tyrian learns that even in the sanctuary with the Guardians, Fate continues to rule his life.

Jaral, loyal Guardian and warrior of his race, accepts the duty of Tyrian's protection. Only, he crosses the forbidden barrier and falls in love with his ward. Although he fights his attraction and love for his charge, Jaral is unable to withstand the desire Tyrian stirs within him. Desperate to ensure Tyrian remains untainted, he faces his Elders and the punishment he is sure to receive.

As Tyrian’s and Jaral’s lives become perilously entwined only the bond of love and an eternity spent within the mist shrouded valley could keep their world from shattering apart. As Jaral's fate as a Guardian hangs in the balance, danger presents itself in the form of two vampires intent on Tyrian's death. Will Fate intervene and grant them a life in the Mists?

Aspiring writer and mother of two, i enjoy nothing more than losing myself to the rather mad cap workings of my imagination.

Blessed with some of the dearest friends, I have to admit that its through their guidance and perseverance that I am able to write what I feel and enjoy.

An avid book reader and a lover of long dark winter nights tucked up with a rather fruity glass of red and my partner in crime J T Cheyanne, we aspire to conquer the world with our love of Vampire's, angel's and wolves alike. As well as some mighty fine Gods and a deluge of hot Gay romance.

V.L. Moon's debut foray into the m/m genre is first rate brilliance. As we delve into the Valley of Mists, we meet Tyrian and Jaral. A half breed vampire/angel, Tyrian yearns for love and acceptance, a place to belong. Conflicted by his duty and his love of Tyrian, Jaral is torn. The author portrays the feelings of each character so well you hurt and love right along with them. The ending...unexpected and dynamic. Excellent job Ms. Moon. Cannot wait to read more.

This book basically forces you into it from the first few pages. You need to know why this baby was left and why he’s so important. These answers are slowly revealed throughout the book which makes for a compulsive read. The world building was vivid and unique.

Tyrian was rescued at death’s door by the last of a long line of women meant to help beings like Tyrian in their time of need. After a long hard journey she stumbles into her destination the Valley of the Mist. It’s a safe haven for all supernatural creatures hidden from the outside world and protected by the Guardians. Tyrian is given his own personal Guardian, Jaral. Jaral is the largest and to Tyrian most beautiful of the Guardians. Tyrian doesn’t fully understand or admit his true desire for Jaral. He keeps it hidden. His best friend leaves him when her people show up and he becomes morose. He goes off by himself and of course that’s when his transformation occurs. When he awakens his physical form no longer resembles who he once was. He’s now half vampire and half angel.

Jaral battles his love for his charge and his duty. Once the transformation occurs it’s so much harder to resist Tyrian. Just when they about give into the temptation, a storm brings in the vampires and it appears their target is Tyrian.

Both men struggle with what they want and what they think is right. Although I understood why they both felt the need to keep quiet about the way they felt, I was frustrated with how man times in a book of this length Tyrian and Jaral avoided admitting they were in love. I didn’t understand why the vampires were given an okay to stay other than to give Tyrian a chance to resist them but he paid a pretty harsh price. The ending was wonderful. I liked how all the pieces clicked and we got our HEA. Fantasy readers will enjoy this. I’d like to read about some of the other supes or characters t fourther explore the world created in Tyrian’s Moon. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more from this author.

The writing style may not be to everyone's taste, but a good fantasy story it is. From someone who just ventured into this genre, this is one heck of a great debut.

As I was reading Tyrian's Mist, I was brought back to the writing style of fantasy author Raymond Feist. Venus Moon has that same talent. She can turn the descriptive word into something fantastical and make her readers imagine the world of mists. Although most of this is in narrative form, and I definitely know this would not be for everyone's cup of tea, this is a great story that should not be missed. From the first page opened, my attention was captured.

The narrative style was what this story needed for the characters were deeper than the regular paranormal ones. These were made up of guardians who were all linked to one another, including nature and many of them felt, thought their thoughts to each other and hardly used any spoken words. So having a thought-up conversation going on would have shown up as italicized text around 90% of the book and that would just cause my eyes to cross.

Really good story! It was captivating, interesting, and very entertaining. If you are looking for a paranormal story with a twist this is your book!

This story is about a man named Tyrian, who was born as a half-breed. He was born from a vampire father and angelic purity but can’t seem to find his place in the world. Abandoned as an infant he was saved when a caring woman named Daira who takes him as her own. Daira takes Tyrian to a valley that is hidden by humans in order to protect him, but is Tyrian truly safe? With a twist of fate Tyrian finds himself being given a guardian named Jaral who is bound to watch and protect him. But as the bond between Tyrian and Jaral increases, Jaral finds himself conflicted between what his heart wants and what his head is telling him. But when two vampires approach their safe haven, Jaral and Tyrian will have to acknowledge their love for each other and find their peace. Will Jaral and Tyrian finally admit to each other their love? Will Tyrian ever find a place where he belongs?

I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it in two short hours and was entertained the whole time. The author’s writing was lovely to read; it flowed off your tongue and was written beautifully. I loved the characters Jaral and Tyrian a lot because they were both fun to read about. Jaral was a great character being both loyal and caring. He was an amazing character to read about especially when he was standing up for what he loved. It was inspiring. And let’s not forget Tyrian. He was a fantastic character that made the story so unique and different. His wings and lust for blood made him an interesting character to read about. I loved the creatures I read about in this book and learning about the valley and the mist. All in all I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from the author.

Favorite parts in the book:

“It was a world apart from the intolerance and blighted ignorance of mortal man.
It was home…”

“She fought, holding fast to every waking breath, so as to teach him of his nature and guide him through the boundaries of love, loss and life”

“He’d been born to fight, but not just any fight. This would be a battle between good and evil, darkness and light.”

FIVE STARS are you kidding me...I would give it TEN if I could. Another magnificent romance by new auther Venus Moon. With poetic beauty she weaves such a description of scenery you feel like you are walking through it. Tyrian's need to feel wanted and his sadness of losing the ones he loves is heartbreaking. His fight against the vampires was hard to read but was necessary to show his valiant fight. I cried when he lost. I cheered when Jaral and the other Guardians punished them. The end was an enchanting and beautiful surprise. I cried again....This book was a terrific fantasy. I loved the story as a whole. It was truly beautiful.

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Tyrian was born of a forbidden union--he is half angel, half vampire. He was brought into a hidden, protected valley as a small child for protection. Which side will win?

Moon's writing ability is absolutely amazing. I do not often run across such a beautiful example of poetic description. I found myself savoring the words, drawing out my experience of this short novel. I was actually quite upset when it was finished. In the dedication, Moon thanked her father for passing on his love of words and after reading this, I'd like to thank him as well.

I will definitely be looking for more of this author's work.

Just as a caution, this contains M/M and M/M/M, so let's keep it adult only, please.

You feel for both Tyrian and Jaral and feel the love they both have for one another, but each think it's one sided till it is almost to late. Go get Tyrian's Mist and you will fall in love with Tyrian and Jaral like I did.

Wow! What a read! Ms. Moon does an amazing job telling the life of Tyrian: on how he finds his mist (his sanctuary), his love for Jaral, his story and other important elements of this book.
I love the story and the way it flows, from one point of view to the next, just works the way Ms. Moon went about writing. I can't wait to read other books by Ms. Moon if they are as good as this one!

Hmm. This was really good and very well written. I liked the flow a lot and I really like the world the author built but it took too long for the MCs to get together. They both loved each other but for their own reasons wouldn't admit it and so they almost lost each other. I don't usually like this plot device. It was still beautifully written.

I love pnr and mm, so putting them together is something I have to read. I have read this author before and thoroughly enjoyed there work.

I enjoyed this book, the writing style is different, but sort of beautiful too. Its a very mystical story, set in the mist, a place that's safe for preternatural beings.

Tyrian is born in the human world but found quickly and taken to the mist. Tyrian is given a guardian, Jaral, as Tyrian grows feelings change.

A quick read, but enjoyable.

V.L. Moon takes readers on a poetic journey to an intriguing paranormal haven where those looking for sanctuary find a sense of family amongst other unique creatures. It's a secret place protected by a group of Elders who only ask that peace and acceptance reign in this haven, the Mist. Ms. Moon's writing style is lyrical and relies mostly on descriptions and inner reflections, very little dialogue is actually spoken. Each chapter is told from a different character's viewpoint and gives us greater insight into the uniqueness of who and what Tyrian is and what he means to those around him. With so much mythological and character descriptors the story feels quite wordy and heavy at times but I still found myself completely immersed in this story.

From the moment he's born Tyrian is thought of as either an abomination or a miracle. To save his life means death to his parents and fate intervening to send a Guide to bring him to the safety of the Mist. From the loss of his parents to the loss of the mother-figure who gave her life to take him to safety, Tyrian knows nothing but loss. Even the close friendship he has with a wolf-shifter ends in her leaving the Mist with her newly-discovered family. The only constant in his life is the Guardian assigned to mentor him, Jaral. Tyrian has come to count on the comfort and support Jaral gives him and as they get closer their closeness morphs into feelings of love on Tyrian's part. These feelings are cause for confusion and sorrow though once Tyrian transitions into a vampire/angel. He now sees himself as an abomination, as most vampires care nothing for others, and believes that Jaral will cast him aside. Desperate for family, and believing himself alone now, leads him to a fateful decision that will change his life forever when a pair of vampires enter the Mist.

Jaral has always wanted to have someone to mentor and is honored to be given Tyrian. He's immediately drawn to him as he's gorgeous to look at with unique bodily markings and a kind-hearted soul that Jaral wants to keep from becoming corrupt in a blood lust haze. He also feels sympathy for the loneliness Tyrian forever carries and spends great amounts of time bonding with him. Their closeness soon leads to feelings of love that Jaral thinks is wrong in his role as Guardian and has him trying to fight these feelings which alienates Tyrian and sends him into the arms of a nefarious pair of vampires. The possibility of losing Tyrian forever leads to a heartfelt revelation that has Jaral proclaiming his true feelings loud and clear in a gut-wrenching, and blood thirsty, conclusion.

This story jumps immediately into the action from page one and keeps the action and emotions reeling until the very end. The Mist is an intriguing place full of colorful characters allowed to be themselves and there's something almost spiritual about it and the Elders who protect it. The author seamlessly incorporates a m/m romance into this magical world where sexual tension permeates throughout the majority of the story culminating in an explosively charged sexual interlude towards the very end. Jaral and Tyrian are both sexy creatures who are perfect for one another in that they both provide that feeling of love and family they've both longed for. Fans of the paranormal genre will enjoy the world Ms. Moon has created and I would love to pay a return visit to the Mist in the future.

There are many ways that you can judge an author by their writing. As much as people say they don’t judge authors, they do. Everyone does. If the author has a certain writing style that you don’t like, then you are judging them for it. Some authors use way too many details, some use not enough. With this being the first book I have read by VL Moon, I was unsure as what to expect from her because of that fact.

I do have to say though, I did enjoy reading this book because there was just the right balance between the amount of details. There wasn’t too much or too little. The world that VL was able to create during the course of this book was just amazing. She was able to describe the world completely to where you could almost visualize the world completely.

The different characters were also written very well in my opinion. There was only one part that I wish would have been expanded upon more and that was about the Guardians, and how they came about. But besides that, I completely enjoyed this story. Tyrian’s story itself was horrible in a great way. Once you read the story you will understand what I am talking about. I did enjoy the struggle that Jaral was having during the course of this book as well. What can I say? I love the drama!

All in all I think this was a great book and I didn’t want to put it down. You can be sure to know I will be reading more from VL in the future!

I received a free ecopy of this book from the author in return for an honest review, this has in no way influenced the outcome of this text!

For once this book left me really speachless after finishing it, was so much to think about and going through my mind just after the end.
The story is a very nice one, of being abandoned and rescued, true friendship and love, betrayal and loss, and finding the meaning of ones life.
Seems like a lot in one book, but the writer made a nice play of it, giving small pieces at a time and filling in the gaps as the story goes on.

Have to confess I guessed the bad types when they came on the scene, but never thought they would have been that bad!

Would certainly recommend the book to people that like fantasy books and don't have anything against a man/man relationship in them.

Now hoping very much there is another book by the same writer!

This was an entertaining read but I wish it had been longer. There were several parts that seemed unnecessary in such a short story, unless this is going to be the first in a series but nothing else is out yet. The story line and character development certainly seems to support more, either a longer story or a series.

This is the 2nd book I have read by this author and I really enjoy their writing (Love, Life and Circumstance being the other). I hope to read more but there are only the 2 e-books I have found so far. I will keep watching though!

This was just brilliant. Jaral and Tyrian were just amazing and their complicated path to finding each other was such a page turner. I just loved it! Yes, it was shorter than I would have liked, just because I love VL's writing, but make no mistake this is a great, page turning short and you should seriously start reading it.
