This book I got as a gift in 2012, and soon after I started reading. It's got some good things to learn. Each 'entry' is a two-page spread. There's the descriptorial text, there's a What If? mini-section about how something might've turned out another way,and a 'pertinent stats' infobar. Oh, and also a large scale illustration wherever possible. There's also usually a 'Mission Diary' feature that I found kinda useful. The book is divided into thematic sections:
Early Spaceflight, which includes Sputnik,Explorer,Vostok,Mercury,Vostok, and Gemini.
Rockets,which obviously is about rockets.
Satellites,which covers various satellite projects.
On Orbit covers space stations and space shuttles, and has some amusing tidbits.
Moon Missions deals with the Luna,Ranger,Surveyor,Lunar Orbiter,Apollo, and Lunar Prospector programs, the Soviet L3 lunar missions having gotten a shoutout in Rockets.
Mars and Venus deals with the Venera,Mariner,Pioneer,Mars Global Surveyor,Mars Pathfinder,Mars Express/Beagle 2,and Mars Exploration Rover missions.
Finally,Exploring Beyond deals with Voyager,Galileo,Cassini, the Russian 'Grand Tour' probe, and Genesis.
