Every day I look forward to waking up in my beautiful apartment and going to my job in marketing at a real estate agency. Then life turns upside down when the company goes under and I can’t find another job that will pay enough for me to keep my apartment. Everything seems hopeless until my twin sister, Sterling, offers to let me stay in the converted van she used to live in while I get on my feet as a freelancer.
The small town of Arrowbridge, Maine, isn’t where I thought I would end up, but I did miss my sister, so it wouldn’t be all bad. One day, Sterling tells me about a new Arrowbridge resident who needs some help staging their house to sell. The job is right up my alley, so I go over to see what I can do.
The house, to put it mildly, is an utter disaster, and my interaction with the owner, Lacey Pierce, isn’t much better. Still, I need the money, and I see the job as a challenge that I want to conquer. Working with Lacey isn’t easy, but there’s something about her that keeps me coming back, day after day. Lacey is just as closed off as I am, and I like teasing her and watching her slowly open up. One night, she invites me over and things escalate as we both give in to the desire we’ve been trying to ignore. Our chemistry is combustible, but since neither of us have plans to stick around Arrowbridge, anything that happens between us is temporary.
There’s only one the intensity of my feelings for Lacey are anything but temporary.
Chelsea M. Cameron is a New York Times/USA Today/Internationally Best Selling author from Maine who now lives and works in Boston. She's a red velvet cake enthusiast, obsessive tea drinker, former cheerleader, and world's worst video gamer. When not writing, she enjoys watching infomercials, eating brunch in bed, tweeting, and playing fetch with her cat, Sassenach. She has a degree in journalism from the University of Maine, Orono that she promptly abandoned to write about the people in her own head. More often than not, these people turn out to be just as weird as she is.
Gwen and Lacey's story was such a lovely read. My favourite part was their beach day out. They were so cute together, and when they were flirting about Lacey's hat the day after, it was super adorable.
This book is a wonderful read. It's cute, sweet, and extremely adorable, I absolutely loved this addition to the Mainely Books Club series!
I highly recommend this series along with all of Chelsea's other books! I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Gwen is a real estate agent who recently lost her job in Boston, so has moved to be near her twin sister Sterling and her girlfriend. She is living in Stirling’s van, as with no job she can’t afford anything better. Gwen now wants to get her own real estate and staging company going, and Stirling sets her up with a customer, to help clear a house and prepare it for sale. Lacey is preparing to sell her recently deceased grandfather’s house, but with all her family breathing down her neck, clamoring for their part of the inheritance, but not willing to help at all. This makes Lacey ultra stressed, until she employs Gwen to do a lot of the work which eases her struggles somewhat. Over the time these two are working at the house together, they get to know each other, and finally admit their mutual attraction. This is a lovely warm story, really a novella as it’s not long, but a good evening read.
I love this series and I love this story! Gwen and Lacey are in Arrowbridge not because they want to be. Gwen was laid off from her realtor job in Boston, and Lacey is here to sell her recently deceased grandfather's home. She hires Gwen to help her prep and stage the house for sale. Because of pressure from her family, Lacey is a little closed off, but eventually Gwen gets her to open up. This is an endearing love story (and HOT). 5 stars!!
Feel a bit harsh, but a rather 2 dimensional book that was too easy to read. Brought in back characters from series but not enough to make it exciting.
This was one of those tricky books to rate. I would say that it was perfectly enjoyable, however very underwhelming. If it wasn’t part of a series that I was invested in, I would say it hadn’t been worth reading. This was a no-conflict, easygoing story, where the plot consisted of people not talking about things. They had a bunch of cute moments, and there was some subtle relationship development that I enjoyed.
My Rating: “C-” Converted Rating: 3-Stars
There were a lot of good elements. What was on the page was usually good, however there was so much that (felt like it) was missing. The timeline was strange, and the ending was far too abrupt. I didn’t feel like there was really a resolution at the end, it felt more like a cut to black in the middle of a scene. A disappointing ending influences me a lot. There were also a lot of details or plot points that were started/foreshadowed that never happened or had any payoff. It was to the degree that I was left wondering if the author intended for things to happen, but then forgot. This isn’t the first time in this series that it happened, but it’s the most notable.
I loved this book, smooth writing telling a good story that gradually built. The ending was a bit quick but maybe to leave it for another time! Nothing not to like.
There isn’t a Chelsea Cameron book that I have read that I haven’t liked, this one is no exception. Her writing is so smooth, everything flows and makes it a great read. Sterling and Kai are still head over heals for each other. It is great to read the interaction between Sterling and Gwen, for twins, they are night and day. Finally, finally Lacey and Gwen get together and sparks fly. Enjoy!
Gwen has joined her twin sister Sterling in Arrowbridge after losing her job. Working to start her own business of staging real estate for sale so she can get back to Boston is her goal. Meeting Lacey and agreeing to help her clean out and stage her Grandfather’s house for sale leads to a wonderful friendship. What does Arrowbridge have in store for this couple. HEA’s are great.
Miss Cameron has to be one of my top five favourite authors, and this latest book does not disappoint. They're always light, playful, funny, and always the right amount of sexy. Definitely worth the read, and definitely do recommend for all.
I think I have a new favourite couple in this series…I absolutely love both these MC’s. The story was fun and the ending sweet. Looking forward to yet more trips to book club!
I loved the lack of the third act break up. It was a good sweet romance story with low angst that still managed a character arc. I felt it would have been far more engaging if the POVs had switched back and forth since I didn't feel I got to know Lacey as a character, her backstory is still a mystery, but that would likely have made it a slightly angstier read, which I could tell wasn't the point of this novel. I love angst and drama, but I am a very engaged reader who hyper focuses and gets immersed in stories, so my anxiety doesn't always appreciate the darker or more intense novels I'm drawn to, so my nervous system adores when I discover books like this one where I can just relax and enjoy it without yelling at the characters or processing intense emotions.
I usually wait until the end of the series to give a rating but since the last book hasn’t been released I’ll go ahead and give one. I really enjoyed these books. I like how it keeps each character from previous books in the new story. I enjoyed all the character’s and the tight friendship’s they have. I did have a hard time with Ezera I couldn’t connect with her. The first love scene between each character was great, but wished certain love scenes after the first were better. I didn’t get bored , I can’t wait for number 9
The book is very cozy. Mostly I loved reading the parts where Gwen was pining for Lacey, where she was drooling over her and turned red infront of her. The author was able to convey emotions in these parts in a very interesting and sweet way. And so basically the story is no different from the rest of the series. Plus the jokes and relationships between the sisters are top notch here so you don't get bored. Love the author Chelsea, you can always relax with her books
Another brilliant instalment in the Mainely series. A low angst romance that's so sweet in places it will melt the coldest heart but hot as all hell, too. Can't wait for the next book.
This one was a little slower than the others but I still enjoyed it. More of a slow burn compared to some of the other romances but it built up pretty well.
Ravished by Her is another low-angst addition to the Mainely Books Club series. Gwen and Lacey are each intent on leaving town as soon as possible. Thrown together by the mundane task of prepping Lacey’s grandfather’s house for sale the women slowly realize that Arrowbridge might be a good place to stay if present company is included. The supporting cast includes several characters we have met before; many of whom are quite happy to give the protagonists a not so gentle nudge. This is another enjoyable read with the anticipated HEA.
I liked this one a lot. We got a build up on Gwen in the previous book and while i'm not sure we got a complete payoff, she was an interesting character. Sharing the cluelessness of other characters in this series. The story was nice and the continuing adventures of Sterling and Kai were a bonus. I've read it a few times as it is a very nice read of a couple getting to know each other and the rest of the town.
