A tavern maid, a palace spy, and an uprising that would shake the foundations of their lives by midnight.

Vera, a half-witch with fire in her veins, spends her days and nights in her father’s treasured tavern only to fill her stepmother’s pockets and dream of the day she can own the tavern for herself. Vera’s life changes when the king of Ellaria announces an enchanted ball to find the warrior prince a wife and mend the growing rift in the country between magic wielders and humans.

After Vera uses her fire powers against a human and burns them by accident the rebels use the crime to blackmail her into joining their cause. With her freedom, the future of the tavern, and the country at stake Vera feels hopeless until Hank, an attractive palace spy offers his protection. Sparks fly and passion ignites between Vera and Hank, but he has his own secrets. One wrong step and Vera’s dreams and budding love will shatter.

Before the dust settles Vera will have to face the heart-wrenching dragons of her past or risk losing everything she’s ever loved and the life she dreamed of in this twist of a Cinderella retelling.

Everybody knows the story of Cinderella, but I loved how this one was a bit different. Same story, different version.

I absolutely LOVED Vera and Hank together. You could see their story building without it getting boring. I loved the magical elements and the way that you see where other stories could blossom.

I loved all of the characters in this story. I loved all of the action and spiciness. The bard is definitely a favorite, but I don't mind waiting for his story. I can't wait to see if he's a part of the other stories as well.

Firstly thank you to the author K Rea for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
All views are my own.

Now, I LOVE a good fairytale retelling especially if she’s a dark one! Let’s hope this one is…

Awch the dedication - “For the dreamers that never outgrew fairytales” that’s me :)

With the mention of a bard I am immediately picturing Jaskier from The Witcher! I think he’s suit a motorcycle.

I LOVED this!

There’s action, suspense, romance and a nice dusting of spice!

I think our mysterious Bard will appear more throughout this series but Siren isn’t due out until summer next year!

Man that was a good read I literally read it in one sitting, it was a quick read and the story flowed along. I was sucked into the world of Vera and Hank, I could feel the Disney influence in the character descriptions and in my head I allocated Madame Mim to the role of Vera’s step mother Sybil. I think it was the mentions of purple being her signature colour!

Wonderful! Heartily recommended

First I received an arc for an honest review. So this was my first book by this author. It was a short read but good. It keep me interested. This to me is a Cinderella retelling, but a completely different spin on it. Plus the magic world it’s set in is similar to Dungeons &Dragons? That’s the best I can come up with without spoilers. The FMC (Vera) and the MMC ( Hank) have a great chemistry and a few secrets from one another. I’m very intrigued by the mysteries traveling helpful bard. I can not wait to see what becomes of the new Glass Slipper, and of course what happens with the Sirens.

Such a wonderful and unique Cinderella retelling. Witches, princes in disguise, an evil stepmother, and a bard with something up his sleeve. Vera and Hank made me swoon! I absolutely could not put this down!

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC! I cannot wait to see what comes next!

If you're looking for a Cinderella retelling with a spin you've never seen before, you need to pick up Cinders!

This story is filled with a magical world, making the fairy tale come to life in a more realistic way than you could ever imagine. Hank is mysterious, doting, and will have you wondering just exactly what's going on.

I absolutely loved the independent spin on Cinderella, and a romance that will leave you wanting more.
