Imitate Their Faith

Rate this book
“Be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”—Hebrews 6:12.

This book has been designed to help you strengthen your faith. The chapters that follow are a compilation of articles from the Imitate Their Faith series published in The Watchtower between 2008 and 2013. However, some new material has been added. Questions are provided for discussion and application. Many colorful, detailed illustrations have been created for this volume, and existing ones have been enlarged and enhanced. Other helpful features, such as a timeline and maps, have been included. Imitate Their Faith is a tool designed for personal, family, and congregation study. Many families might also enjoy simply reading the stories aloud together.

May this book help you to imitate the faith of Jehovah’s loyal servants from the past—and may it help you to grow in faith as you draw closer to your heavenly Father, Jehovah!

What an encouraging book. It really makes the characters live. I especially like how we find out more about Abel, though his mention is brief.

I am glad I read this cover to cover, but this is one to return to and dip into, reading a favourite chapter that may seem more relavant to you at that time.

So I literally couldn't put this down the characters come so much to life and it was so beautifully put. I felt so connected to the characters and I could feel their pains and I could feel their joys. Definitely a great reminder on how to imitate their faith and to keep on trusting and relying on Jehovah. If you haven't read this yet I totally recommend too.

Thank you very much for this book! I enjoyed every single page I read, it was so spiritually uplifting. Glad to re-read some of the characters that I've read before (p.s: Jonah is my fave chapter anyway) in the Watchtower Publ.Ed. years ago.
I will study this book during my bible personal study thoroughly and will start this week.

This really helped me learn more about the faithful men and women of Bible times. I really enjoyed studying this with the congregation. I'm going to study it again. I am glad that the Society provided us with more tools to learn about Jehovah and Jesus as well as these faithful people. I cannot wait to study this book again and to finish What Can the Bible Teach Us? Book with my Aunt. :)

Li a versão brasileira.

Remember the book of Bible stories that you used to have as a kid, or that they had sitting at the dentist office? Remember how much fun it was to learn about all of those characters who appear in the Bible? This book can be likened to a “Book of Bible Stories” for adults. There sure is some beautiful artwork, but the way the stories are retold, kind of in slow motion really brings these people back to life. It made me go back to my Bible and read the quoted citations, the chapters in their entirety. I was like “Wow, the Bible does include these details”. James wrote: “Elijah was a man with feelings like ours.” (James 5:17). Indeed, these folks in the Bible had feelings and problems like we do today. The writers of this book help us to relate to these characters and to imitate the same strong faith today in order to navigate the challenges that we face in our own lives. This is a worthwhile and very comforting read, one to savor. I recommend a pace of about a half chapter a day. This is not just a book for Jehovah’s Witnesses only. Any Christian, including those quite set in their own church already, will find this book to be a true treasure.

Wonderfully put together. Each chapter is only a couple of pages long so can be done easily. Awesome pictures true artistry~! Each person highlighted shows a different aspect of faith and courage - people like Abraham, David, Samuel, Ruth, the slave girl who worked for a King, Esther, and more recognized names such as John and Noah.
I found it an easy read and was able to read a chapter a night - wonderfully examples that show that the need for strong faith is never out of fashion and that despite the eons between them and us, we can still learn from the stand each of them had to take in their lives :)

We are studying this for the congregation bible study. I love this publication, the richness of the experiences of these ordinary men (people ) who accomplished extraordinary things by way of their faith. Encouraging. We are reading it in English and Arabic and the poetry of the Arabic language lends a beauty to the meaning of some of the words: apostle= messenger and Dorcas is described as "tilmida" a schoolgirl, which describes a personality trait, she was not a tainted woman. I can imagine learning more about these individuals when we are further educated by all things good in the future.

This is an amazing book.
Not even a person who doesn't like Jehovah's Witnesses can say that this is invalid or uninteresting. It's a must read, I say, for anybody who wants to learn more about or teach the lesser known and known Bible examples.

The format is exceptionally easy to read, the pictures are wow, and the writing style is captivating.

I give it a five based on the things mentioned above + the story telling and accurate information.

I loved loved loved this publication. You learn so much more about characters in the bible that you think you know well and this opens your eyes even more. Mary has 2 chapters toward the end and peter has 3. I really hope they come out with another book like this with more men and women of faith both well known and not. I am always so glad that it shows how important a role women had in the bible.

What a blessing from Jehovah this book is! I love the detail and thought that went into each account-but how can I not be touched, by the faithful examples these ones set thousands of years ago? I think I especially love how the book ends on peter. I, as so many others, can relate to his good motives yet wrong actions. The last chapter on forgiveness is beyond moving. Thank you!

There are so many wonderful publications by the JW organization to help people study the Bible. With thorough research, accurate writing, and wonderful full-color illustrations you can't help but learn about the people in Jesus' time, his apostles, disciples, and the miracles they performed. We can all learn from their examples of how to live a life that is pleasing to our Creator, His Son, and those around us.

Another outstanding publication, just like my last one read, Draws Close to Jehovah. So much decent content, material to think and reason upon, so many feelings stirred, and progress that can be made by the reader, the student. The examples of faith are so well chosen and they give the book the proper platform to be constructed upon. It is a must-read, you cannot be without it! Thank you to all involved.

"Stay Alive Til 75" was the slogan voiced in print and from the stage in the years prior to 1975 especially in 1974, now it's 50 years later and still no "Paradise On Earth" as promised by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. False Prophets! Yes.

Awesome, awesome book. Great insight and thought has been put into the lives, circumstances surrounding these bible characters that really allow us to see the relevance, application and benefit of these lives recorded for our benefit and imitation in God's word... This one, as with other books, I enjoy reading over and over again, learning and reflecting anew.

I love this book!!! It made the Bible characters really live! I could hear the sounds, smell the animals, grass....it was amazing to "live" and experience the faith of these ancient ones. I learned more about God and his dealings with humans which made me want to draw closer to Jehovah God. This is a definite book which I will read again and again.
