One night. That’s all it takes to alter someone’s life. All it takes to change your whole perspective. All it takes to divert your whole trajectory. That’s all it took for me. I always had this gut feeling that things would not remain as they were. That my perfect little life—my perfect boyfriend and perfect town—would come to an end. And boy was I right. A girl couldn’t be this happy. Something had to burst that bubble. And burst it did. Burst. Explode. Detonate. Combust. Wolf shifters, supernatural hunters and secret training academies. How was this my life? I was played. I was lied to. And now it was time for me to finally take control. But which side was I meant to be on? The pack or the Knights? This wasn’t the fairytale I imagined it would be.
Supernova is Book 1 in The Gray Knights series. *Perfect for readers who love classic paranormal romance books like Fourth Wing, Twilight, Evernight and Mortal Instruments but with a wolf shifter take. If you love authors like Jaymin Eve, Everly Frost, Leia Stone, Tate James and Rebecca Yarros, then this might just be your perfect next read. With the classic love triangle trope as well as a hint of betrayal, action, inner-monologue sarcasm, two beautiful book boyfriends (sunshine and mysterious/brooding), magical school (kind-of) and some sexual tension, Supernova has something for everyone.
J.A. Jude is an author from Melbourne, Australia. An avid reader from childhood who re-found her love for reading in her adult years, Jude is an artistic soul at heart, obsessed with the escapism that comes from a good book. A pisces dreamer, she spends most of her free time deep in the flow state of creating art—when she’s not binge watching a new TV show with her husband or curled up in bed diving into a new story. When her nose isn’t in a book or covered in paint, she’s out in nature trying to find magic in the real world, from the encasing warmth of golden hour to the shimmer of stars in the night sky.
Sick of working jobs that brought little joy and wondering ‘what if’, Jude began putting her love for writing and creating into writing her own book. A sucker for love, her stories are centred around romance with elements of the supernatural or fantasy worlds that shaped much of her life.
“Dedicated to the stargazers and the dreamers. The ones that want more from life but fear going after it. Here's to finding the courage.”

This book had a lot of potential. There was a lot to love here but some things fell flat or felt like they were missing. I loved a lot of the characters. I mean you can’t go wrong with a strong FMC. The book could have used some more world building for me as well as more in depth descriptions regarding characters as well. But from what we do learn about the characters was enough to make me really enjoy reading their story. The banter in the book helped as well. Love a book with some good banter 😏.
The pace was a bit slow at times for me but overall that wasn’t an issue. The writing was solid enough as well!
Overall it was good read. The vibes were there for me.
TROPES LOVE TRIANGLE MULTIPLE POVS FATED MATES UNLIKELY ALLIES WOLF SHIFTERS/WEREWOLVES SUPERNATURALLY GIFTED HUNTERS IMPENDING BATTLE SECOND-CHANCE ROMANCE FOUND FAMILY TRAINING ACADEMY SMALL FOREST TOWN
The story had potential, but it wasn’t quite there yet.
Instead of focusing so heavily on what characters were wearing, I would have liked to see more world-building. The idea of shifters and hunters was interesting but not really explained. I felt like I was missing a lot of information, especially at the beginning of the book.
The FMC seemed interesting, but again I would have liked to learn a bit more about her. Her decision to run away, leaving everything and everyone behind without any explanation, didn’t really make sense to me.
The FMC’s mother seemed like a really interesting character, but sadly her past wasn’t really explored much.
Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the instant attraction between FMC and MMC or the MMC being possessive over her right after they met. But I enjoyed the banter and flirting between them.
I didn’t really enjoy the multiple references to the Vampire Diaries. Instead of describing with those references, I would have preferred the author to explain and describe what was going on.
Overall, a fast and easy read. I will be reading the next book in the series.
I loved this book sm! It’s well written, heartfelt, spunky and not to mention it’s GORGEOUS! The author also does all the artwork including the cover. Talk about talent!! I loved the FMC Venus. She was equal parts baddie & vulnerable, I could really feel what she felt. Griff was just *drool* and KITANA!!! Girl is so dope, she needs her own spin off or POV chapters in later books! Overall the world was so fun with all the supernatural vibes I love. Twilight x TVD x Shadowhunters!! The fight scenes/training scenes were almost my favorite part. SO WELL DONE! Highly recommend for people who like supernatural romance with lots of flirty tension & fade to black. Can’t wait for the next one!! 🖤🖤
This book was Twilight meets Teen Wolf, and honestly felt like Allison from Teen Wolf finally got her own story.
We meet Venus Stone, who's dating River, the alpha of a werewolf pack. After uncovering some unsettling truths about the wolves, she bolts and finds herself at Grey Knights Academy. The Knights are basically hunters who balance out the wolves, and I loved learning about their unique powers and the whole "two sides of nature" dynamic.
This book felt very much like a setup for Venus, her mentality, her challenges, and her growth. Through her time at the Academy, she discovers her heritage as part of the Stone family line, which instantly raised the stakes and gave her journey more depth.
Nearly the entire story is told from her POV, grounding everything in her perspective, her struggles, and her determination to figure out where she belongs. The only exception is the final chapter, which flips to Griffin's POV, something that made perfect sense, since the heart of this book was really Venus' story and her coming into her own.
Most of the plot is spent diving into the world of the Knights, how their leadership works, what their responsibilities are, and plenty of spicy training montages. I really liked that we stayed grounded in one setting because it let the friendships and found-family dynamic shine. Venus' bond with the group felt so natural and strong that even we as readers didn't want to let go. While we only catch glimpses of the wolves here, the setup makes you hungry to see what comes next.
Enter Griffin, the new love interest and, in my opinion, the hottest man alive. His banter with Venus was such a refreshing change, especially since she'd been tied to River for nearly a decade. Their dynamic brought out a bolder, stronger side of her, and I loved watching that unfold.
What made this book so fun is how it mixed in ordinary moments, reading, scrolling on a Kindle app, grabbing breakfast, or going out for frozen yoghurt with friends. Those little slices of normal life made the story feel light, easy to read, and immersive, almost like we were part of their friend group. At the same time, small hints of a bigger plot kept things moving toward the next book.
Read the book, saw it's potential but it's just not quite there yet. The author has a writing style that doesn't resonate with me very much. She is very detailed in describing how everyone looks and what they're wearing, personally i think to detailed without it adding anything to the story itself. The world building is there but it lacks history, the hunters have special powers but how did they get them? Venus is totally in love with River but leaves him and her family without some explanation, and when she finds out the truth she runs back to her hometown leaving everyone behind again.
The banter and flirting was cute but i would have prefered more backstory and paranormal world building and explanation in how things came to be.
I hope the second book is better, the first one unfortunately i found lacking.
This book was like a mimosa on a Monday morning - refreshing.
Supernova, an urban fantasy, was the perfect escape and such an easy read! Tons of witty banter and chemistry that had me begging for them to just get together already. It left me wanting more (hello, book 2). Although a bit light on world-building, the romance is SMOKING! Overall, it was a delightful read.
≻ PACE & WRITING
I love the conversational tone in this book. It feels like your BFF is spilling all the tea about her wild life and supernatural goss (which I am insanely jealous of). It was so easy to breeze through.
The chapters were mostly short which I appreciated. It made the reading journey feel very achievable.
≻ CHARACTERS
The characters are super relatable! I found myself wishing I was a part of their gang. The girls all have this amazing energy, kind of like a Bratz doll vibe – glamorous and fierce!
The love interest you ask? super dreamy I love it! He is dark, mysterious and cool. the book included character art - created by the author herself I might add - which helped me visualize all the characters perfectly.
Honestly, the character art alone convinced me to read this book.
≻ PLOT
The plot itself wasn't super surprising, but the way it unfolded kept me engaged. The ending left me wanting more – definitely, a cliffhanger that makes me desperate for book two!
The whole story leaves you wondering who to root for – a real 'choose your fighter' vibe. Let me tell you, I've already picked my side, and if things don't go their way, there might be some tears involved.
≻WORLD
The world itself isn't super complex, which makes sense for an urban fantasy set in New York City. I admire the iconic setting.
I feel like book 2 will tell us more about how the supernatural is entwined in the modern world.

This book stole my heart with the character names! Vee, Griffin, and Riv - all fantastic choices.
The names Celeste and Venus beautifully complement each other.
Kit, Billie, and Vee - the ultimate trio! They click instantly and always have each other's backs, I need a trio of friends like this.
Overprotective wolf? Cute at first, but stifling now. He needs to be honest and stop making her feel insignificant. Honestly nothing more infuriating.
Did Riv know about her mom? (major side-eye)
I thought it was interesting she admitted to having rose-coloured eyes with River.
The roof scenes with Vee and Griffin feel like its plucked from a movie - in the best way.
VEE AND GRIFFIN SORT YOUR SHIT OUT PLS AND THANKYOU.
pg165 'If you won't have me, you can't have anyone.'
pg5 'Bad ass bitch ran in our families genes'
Just in case it wasn't clear, I'm rooting for Team Griffin!
I. Was. Not. Prepared. For. This. Book. To. Change. My. Life.
Okay. First of all, let’s start with the spice rating. I almost had to make it 3/5 because KISSING ONLY SHOULD NOT BE SO HOT. Ahem, someone needs to sanitize that pantry! But like for fade to black and nothing explicit, DAMN THAT WAS HOT AF.
Next, as a die hard TVD fan, this was it for me. If you, like me, have watched the series about a hundred times and live for rewatching S3 E19 over and over. You are going to love this book.
This emerging love triangle is such a good mashup of Vampire Diaries, Twilight and Vampire Academy with Sex and the City vibes and Gossip Girl references. Like what doesn’t it have? - Badass FMC ✔️ - Paranormal creatures ✔️ - Slow burn ✔️ - Epic banter ✔️ - Found family ✔️
I think I could keep going but that should sell you. The characters are amazing. Dynamic, interesting, relatable, diverse. Really well explored and yet there’s SO much more to learn about each one. Billie and Kit are the girl gang every girl wishes for and Carter! (Please write an interconnected stand alone for Carter, they need their moment!!)
The writing is flawless, it moves seamlessly and even the more mundane days of training or hanging, are riveting, like being fully immersed in your favorite tv show.
I loved it. I need the second book asap. I will be recommending this series to literally everyone I meet. Obsessed! 😍
A captivating story that will have you on the edge of your seat, toes curled, wondering who will be chosen.
Jude has manipulated word play that will just leave you wanting more. Betrayal, angst and tension are just a few words to describe what I felt throughout this novel.
OH MY GOSH this was absolutely amazing. I haven’t read a supernatural romance in so long as it felt so forced but this book exceeded all my expectations. It doesn’t play on the usual Vampire diaries and Twilight tropes and that just makes it 100x better. Please, please, please release the next book already!!!! Let me just say, if anything happens to Griffin, it’s war and I’ll start a riot. VENUS!!! You’ll love her. That’s all I’m gonna say. There’s a love triangle and both contestants for the THRONE are different species. I recommend this to all supernatural lovers, who love a bit of ‘good v bad’. Or rather ‘wolf v human’. Supernova will have you turning the pages as if your life depended on it.
🗡NA Paranormal Romance 🐺Exercise Training 🗡Afraid to Commit 🐺Love Triangle 🗡Slow burn
Vampire Academy/House of Night feels! I say this loosely; Vee is the Bella of Twilight, if Edward never existed, in the beginning. I'm team Griffin 100% though.
One night, she saw something that changed her whole life. Without revealing too much, she ends up at this academy for Knights! She has to prove herself worthy, or at least capable of being trained, and the fun begins. At this academy, she finds herself, great friendships, and some inescapable temptation.
I love books like this with training sequences, especially when they have a hot trainer who just can't help himself to throw in as many lascivious comments and gestures as possible. And the nicknames! 💜
The end had me wanting to throw my Kindle, since it's on KU, with the cliffhanger, but the second book is fast approaching and I can't wait to find out what happens!
I really enjoyed this book and struggled to put it down!
There was so much that was relatable and hilarious! References to gossip girl and vampier diaries and as some who love both shows I was living for it.
A few twists that you absolutely did not expect. We got some great sexual tension with minor details and faded to black. It was done very well that I didn't miss the detail spice. The pick-up lines were 🔥 and we got some fantastic banter from each character that just made you smile
We get the knites and their training academy, I loved that it was not bam not she is a bad ass who does it all perfectly, no she stuffs up, falls on her ass and just keeps trying her best and slowly gets better.
The found family was another thing I loved, seeing women be there for each other and just absolutely not judging at all.
I came across this book when scrolling through Tik Tok one day. I jumped onto the authors Etsy and bought a copy, it sat on my shelves for about a week before I picked it up and oh I couldn’t put it down once I did. This book was absolutely incredible. The storyline and the character building? Are you kidding me? If I could give this book 6 stars I would. I honestly think that this beats ACTOAR for me…
I can’t wait for stargazer to come out. I will be impatiently waiting. I’m so giving this to my best friend to read because I need her to be as addicted to it as I am.
My only complaint is River. She can’t get back with him. No. It’s not allowed.
Okay. Stargazer can come out now, thank you v v much <3
If you are looking for a forced proximity slow burn with a love triangle and paranormal elements then baby this is for you.
Our FMC, Venus(Vee), comes from a line of hunters known as the Grey Knights but was unaware until one night she stumbled upon River, her Wolf Shifter boyfriend, doing something she never thought he’d do. That’s when her mother breaks tells her the whole story of her life. Now, Vee is on her way to train with the Grey Knights and hunt the shifters but what she didn’t expect was Griffin, The best fighter and the hottest guy there to take a liking to her. Can she move on from River and be with Griffin or is there to much left unsaid between her and River?
Loved this book! Fast paced and fun with lots of interesting characters. Normally, I hate cliff hangers- but this one wasn’t horrible and left me dying for the next book. If you like Everly Frost and/or Jaymin Eve then you’ll love this book. Lots of action and steamy romance. The love scenes are mostly fade to black, but they’re descriptive and full of emotion which makes them very satisfying (unlike most fade to black). Characters felt mature as young adults which was nice for me as an adult reward. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next installment. 🤩🙌
I am genuinely at a loss on what to say about this book. On one hand, there were so many pieces I absolutely loved, and the idea was making me confident this would be an all time favorite book. On the other hand, the parts I had issues with ended up being the entire basis of the plot twist and I am struggling to not rant for 20 minutes on how the FMC needs to do better because she didn’t make the stupid decision once, she did it twice. Anyway, I wanted to love this one, but the way the love triangle was set up, it’s just not for me. Miscommunication tropes are already hard for me, this one hit too hard on the wrong side of the line for me.
Look, I am a wolf shifter girly through and through and this book brought so much heat and enjoyment to my life, I'm not sure there are the words to get me there.
It is a fade to black novel and you know what? I was totally ok with that, my imagination filled in the gaps and Jude's writing was succinct and beautiful. The way the story was laid out, amazing. It's such a great foundation for what is to come.
Firmly Team Griffin here. The end. In case you were wondering.
Do yourself a favour and read this book, you won't be disappointed.
3.5 ⭐️ Not going to lie I was hesitant going into this. However I was pleasantly surprised and I just KNOW this author is going places. For me I found the writing improved immensely towards the end. Griffins epilogue was *chefs kiss*. As a debut novel this was absolutely brilliant naturally there is always room for improvement but this book definitely kept getting better as the story went on. I will be diving straight into Stargazer!
i did like this book, it just wasn’t my personal favourite writing style. it was written like the characters outfits were more important than the plot, and that was my only problem with the story. it was really descriptive but almost too descriptive compared to the actual world building. i just would’ve preferred more of an intro to the world.
Okay I was going to dnf this yesterday at 17% because it was so boring that looking out the window on my overnight flight was more entertaining But instead, here I am dnfing at 47% because I have no self control but, alas, even I physically cannot sit through another MULTIPLE PAGE LONG description of a room or outfit
Wow I really enjoyed this! I’m a sucker for a strong FMC and Vee is just that, but still has room for growth and character development. I do NOT trust River, even after the ending, I still feel like he’s dodgy, but now I can’t wait to read the 2nd book!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Was a really intriguing read i really enjoyed the banter and slow burn. The nicknames are where i didnt personally like but thats just me the story its self is worth it i will be reading the second book as i really enjoyed the world and story line.
I Devoured this book. Loved it! Fantasy with a bit of Romance. It's giving City of bones vibes. Swap the demons for wolves. Such a fun book to read. I love that it did need with the happy ever after, it just left you hanging for the next book. Can't wait for book 2. Highly recommended 👌
I really enjoyed this book. It is a slow burn Paranormal YA. What mysterious will unfold in the twist world of Venus? What reality will she choose one with Griffin or one with River? I guess all will be revealed in book 2.
If you enjoy werewolves, hunters, urban fantasy setting, fashion, New York setting, great friendships, found family dynamics, a soft but hard working FMC and a love triangle that makes you want to know who she’ll pick… you should read this series!
