Welcome to the Black Diamond Resort and Spa . . . I’m in exile in this luxurious refuge after a scandal, which shouldn’t be a scandal at all. I’m Elijah Hunt, former child actor, now beloved action star. When a picture of me in a compromising position is posted online, for the entire world to see, my agent sent me here to escape the limelight. But here, it’s different from my crazy, loud, glitzy life. It’s quiet and peaceful. No one seems impressed with my celebrity. And no one is less impressed than the sexy, aloof member of the cleaning crew. He couldn’t care less who I am or why I’m here. He’s convinced I’m one of the fortunate ones—and I suppose I am. I’ve had it all—big houses, the best care, money, fame, and shallow adoration . . . but I’ve never been loved. I’ve never known if people like me for who I am underneath it all or just for my money and fame. And to me . . . that seems awfully unfortunate.

Unfortunate is the third book in the Unlucky 13 series. This is Elijah and Atlas's story. All the stories in this series can be read as a standalone. But it's fun to read the books written by the many authors participating in this series since this is a multiauthor series. With that being said, let's get to the review shall we?
Elijah is a famous child actor turned movie star who does mostly action films. He is very lowkey and likes his privacy. He has been told his whole life to keep his head down and not cause any problems. Its ingrained in his mind. Since, Elijah is a public figure, it isn't known to the rest of the world that he is gay. He keeps that part of himself private. It's not that he is ashamed of being gay, he just thinks it's weird that gay people have to "come out" and declare their sexuality. You don't see straight people "coming out". I totally understood where he was coming from, it's indeed a weird concept. Why does his sexuality have to matter? Unfortunately, as a celebrity everyone wants a piece of you. It sadly comes with the territory of being famous. For the most part though, Elijah has been successful to keep his personal life private, that is until a bitter ex outs him out without his consent. A terrible violation of his privacy. To escape the media harassment, Elijah's agent thinks it would do him some good to get away from Hollywood and the obsessed paparazzi. Elijah agrees and goes to Black Diamond to relax.
There he meets Atlas, a housekeeper. Atlas is hot and not at all impressed by Elijah's snobby behavior. Atlas loves working at the resort. He loves his job, apartment and the friends he has made at the island. The simple life suits him. He may have done the whole university thing but the 9-5 corporate life was not what he envisioned for himself. He doesn't really have any family, so his friends at the island are his family. They do all sorts of things to together, even have naked night Fridays. Interesting concept lol. So, where does the former child star, Elijah fit into his life?
Elijah and Atlas are attracted to one another. It's hard not to run into each other at the Black Diamond. Despite their better judgement of one another, they hangout and hit it off. The lust takes over and they have lots of hot sex. I mean I was impressed by the gag reflex these men had, because damn👀🙊. I am impressed by the dedication and work these men put into getting each other off. So many sexy moments indeed 😏.
However, all is not lust with these two. They hangout and get to know one another. The story is fast paced so their relationship development happens faster than some might expect, but I think it worked in this case.
Atlas begins to develop feelings for Elijah that transcend beyond sex. It wasn't what he expected. Elijah may be one of the fortunate ones but there is more to the actor than meets the eye. Their time at the island may have been brief but their romance was not. Elijah and Atlas may have started as a situationship but these two were in for a surprise when they realize they both want more with one another. Together, they figure out how to make this relationship work between them, given that Elijah's time at the island was always meant to be temporary.
Unfortunate, is a fast-paced, insta love romance. It is a great summer read and can be read briefly since the length is that of a novella. I enjoyed Atlas and Elijah's story. Their sex scenes were hot and their feelings for one another were very genuine. It may have started as a situationship but it obviously led to something more sweet and romantic. This story was a treat, I did enjoy that it was lighthearted and somewhat fluffy. I have been reading angsty romances all of June so this was much needed. I can't wait to read Holden's story next, that man has intrigued me since Broken. I am all about getting to know our Black Diamond bartender.
If you have enjoyed Nicole Dykes's previous books, and are looking for a short summer read this might be your next read! I do wish it was a bit longer but for their story, the short length did work. Holden's story is next on my tbr 😉
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Time to dive back into this series!!! I KNOW I’ve said this before, but this time I’m absolutely serious. (Okay, maybe I’m not... but let’s pretend I am!!) 😂
Unfortunate focuses on recently outed Hollywood action star Elijah and the resort's housekeeper Atlas. What I enjoyed about Atlas and Elijah's dynamic is how on the outside they both appear so different, but in reality, Atlas and Elijah have similar experiences surrounding a fear of abandonment and loss of familial approval. Both men have had vastly different real-life experiences, which makes their connection such a breath of fresh air for both.
Atlas is very hesitant regarding his attraction to Elijah and Elijah is so surprised at his desire to be seen by someone without any pretense and expectation. Together they share many special moments and their relationship quickly heats up.
Overall I loved Atlas and Elijah's relationship. It quickly turns into something more than either expected and I loved how they were willing to find a balance that works. Showing they really will do anything for the other. I loved this installment and cannot wait to read more from this series.
*** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this story.***
I would like to start by saying I am not a bad review girly. It’s not in my wheelhouse. However, I am in my honest review era and I feel like this needs to be said so here we are.
This book was just not it for me. Not it. For many reasons. After reading the first two books in this series I saw promise. The authors in those stories really painted a good picture of this shared world. This book though? This book said, “Shared world? Me? Why would I do that? Why would I build at all on this world that I’m supposed to be in when I can just write whatever I want?” Like. Hello? I need a bit more backdrop than their hotel room thanks.
The fact that the characters literally never left their room was another thing. I spent the entire book wondering who the heck Atlas and Elijah even were. Were they enemies? Meh maybe. Were they instalove? Meh sure. Who were these two?! All I know about them is that I knew nothing about them, they had little to no character development, but by god they had a lot of sex. Which cool fine but also it’s not enough to carry the story. I get it. I do. Stories like this are supposed to be fast paced and easy to read but my god they aren’t supposed to be so fast paced that the writing itself is so rushed that there is no story.
All in all this is me finally admitting that I think my journey with this author is dunzo. The last few books have felt so much like this, that it’s just churning out books without much really going into them or giving the readers much substance. It’s sad. But if we’re not honest with our reviews things won’t get better. So like, it’s a no from me.
This book starts out with Elijah being outed by someone he thought he could trust. His agent sends him to Black Diamond Resort to avoid some of the spotlight until Elijah is ready to address the situation on his own terms.
Almost as soon as he arrives he butts heads with Atlas, a very attractive member of the cleaning crew. They both annoy the other, but there is also some undeniable attraction there as well. Their entire interaction over vacuuming had me laughing.
Keep it down? That arrogant motherfucker. I didn’t necessarily have to vacuum the rugs today, but guess who’s going to do it now? Spoiled little brat.
After a couple more run ins, these two sort of find some middle ground, find that they have some things in common and just want to enjoy each other’s company for a while.
I keep to myself for the most part, but something about Elijah calls out to me. Yes, he’s a brat and a pain in the ass, but there’s something else there. Maybe vulnerability.
After Elijah spends a bit of time on the island and hanging out with Atlas just having fun, he finally starts to relax and actually just be himself. This is new and refreshing to Elijah and he doesn’t want to let this new feeling go.
For the first time in my entire life, I can actually do something for me and only me. I can be who I am without worrying.
Elijah comes to realize he has been lonely for a long time. His parents aren’t there for him, he doesn’t really have any friends, he just goes home and hides. He decides he likes who he is on the island and who he is when he’s with Atlas. He’s not looking forward to leaving Black Diamond or Atlas.
He drops his hand and smiles at me. “I’m glad I get to know the real you.” My heart races as I look in his eyes because I am too. Out of everyone on this planet, it’s Atlas who I finally get to be myself with. No one else knows me.
Atlas comes to realize that while Elijah may be a famous movie star, he isn’t as fortunate as he initially thought. He doesn’t have people that really care about him in his life, people who just enjoy him for him. Once these two open up to one another they really started to fall for one another.
Not to mention the sparks were flying from the start! There is no shortage of hot steamy sex between these two. There are some super sweet scenes as well.
“Elijah, has anyone ever tasted you here?” I drag one finger over his rim, and he wiggles more, but this time it’s less teasing and more desperate. “N-no.” I grin. “You’ve never been rimmed before? Oh, Elijah . . . the things I want to do to you.” “Please . . .” It’s breathless and pleading, and my balls are already aching. “Please do it all.”
I love how both Atlas and Elijah were willing to compromise and make their relationship work with each other.
Nicole delivers exactly what I was looking for with this book. This is a low angst story, that is both sweet and spicy, about two guys finding just what they needed in each other. This was a super enjoyable easy read.
“You’re what I’ve been waiting for and didn’t know it. I was numb for so long, going through the motions and doing what I thought I had to do. But when I met you, it awoke something deep inside me.”
I enjoyed seeing more of Holden in this one and am looking forward to his story in Exception.
Slowly making my way through this series but I didn’t realize until I started that it’s only 140 pages. More like a novella. While I did enjoy this book, it was just too short and needed more.
"The first time I saw him, I thought he was one of the fortunate ones. A spoiled brat who’s had everything handed to him. But when I saw him on the beach, he just looked so damn sad." - Atlas
Unfortunate : A Black Diamond Novel by Nicole Dykes is book 3 in the standalone, multi-author, MM, Unlucky 13 series, which is set around an all inclusive, private resort built exclusively for the troubled elite. This is Atlas and Elijah's story.
Atlas is the down to earth, resort housekeeper and Elijah, the child star turned adult action movie hero guest, sent to the island by his protective agent to avoid the publicity following a public (unsanctioned) outing by an ex boyfriend.
Atlas initially takes Elijah to be a spoilt Hollywood brat, whilst Elijah can't imagine how someone so grounded and 'normal' as Atlas could possibly want to be with him, living the superficial life he does. And so the stage is set for a love story of misconceptions and crossed-purposes......perfect!
"With him, it’s just as simple as opening my mouth and letting the true words come out. It’s unscripted and real with him. And I really, really like it." - Elijah
Main tropes:
🌶️MM romance 🌶️Forced proximity 🌶️Opposites attract 🌶️All the steam 🌶️HEA
Another steamy 3-3.5 ⭐⭐⭐ addition to the Unlucky 13 series!
i liked this, both the plot and the characters. however i wish it was longer. i really feel like the beginning and the end didn’t really get what they deserved. this needed at least another 50 pages. but it’s still a very enjoyable read.
I enjoyed escaping to the Black Diamond Resort and Spa with Elijah - the first time he's ever really had a chance to breathe and be himself and it was beautiful to watch him soak in his environment and the eye candy that is Atlas...
Both characters are likeable and relatable and Nicole Dykes does a great job of integrating their backstories into the book as we go along so we learn more and more about each man and how he's gotten to where he is and what he wants going forward...
Well paced and beautifully written, Unfortunate makes a great addition to your summer reading list - whether you pick it up for a beach vacation or a lazy, rainy day - you won't go wrong with adding Unfortunate to your TBR.
Ok so the first part of this review is just going to be me gushing about how much I loved this book!!
I fell in love with this book! I started it almost as soon as I received an ARC and devoured it in one sitting! Unfortunate is now hands down my favourite book by Nicole Dykes! This book had me hooked from the very first sentence and didn’t let go! I didn’t want their story to end as I was enjoying it so much. I was ready to rate it 5 stars on Goodreads when I was only half way through as I knew this was an amazing story! There’s not a single word that could be changed in this story to make it any better! It was absolutely perfect exactly the way it’s written! If you are going to only read one book by Nicole Dykes (not that I’d recommend that as she’s a great author) please make sure it’s this one!!
Ok so now I’ll actually talk about the story and characters! 😂
Atlas and Elijah were absolutely perfect! They start off as a grump and a spoiled brat (respectively) but once you get to know them they are so much more than that! Atlas was so incredibly sweet once he opened up to Elijah! I loved how he just really wanted a simple life and loved his job on the island doing housekeeping! Elijah being able to be himself for the first time in his life with Atlas was something special!
These two were on 🔥!! They really had it all. Super cute swoony scenes, amazingly hot spicy scenes and just even some regular everyday cuddling scenes! They even had amazing banter! There were two lines that stood out to me! One that was super hot and one that was super sweet! Don’t want to spoil them!
As I read this book I wondered how they would get their HEA as a movie star living in LA and a housekeeper living on a private island. But Nicole found the perfect solution! I loved it because it didn’t comprise what either of them love and want in life. It was a wonderful ending for them.
This book is a lot different than the first two books in the series which were more angsty. This one had some rough childhoods and a set of parents that weren’t that great but that wasn’t a huge part of the story. There was a small part that broke my heart and had me hurting for both characters. But for the most part this was a very fun, light, beachy read that was just perfect for the setting!
This book can definitely be read as a standalone but I absolutely recommend reading the other ones as well. I feel like I got such a better picture of the resort and some of the side characters from reading all the books in this series so far. I absolutely cannot wait to read more in this series!
After reading Broken and Wounded from the same series, Unfortunate is definitely less angsty and more fluffy — no third-act break up and no big drama. It was a nice change of pace, but nevertheless felt like it was missing something. While the characters are adorable and the whole concept of the island is fun, nothing really happens in this one. Still a fun and cute read.
CW and tropes (spoilers): - class difference and rich/poor dynamic - friends-with-benefits-to-lovers - actor vs housekeeper - switching

Elijah is 25, gay, closeted, a former child actor turned action movie star. He gets outed by an ex and he goes to the Black Diamond resort to hide out. He meets Atlas there. Atlas is around the same age, gay, out, an employee at the resort. Atlas is happy with his life but he has lost his mother. She was a single teen Mom and worked really hard to try to make his life better, and Atlas abandoned the corporate life he was pursuing when she died, instead just choosing what made him happy.
This was a pleasant enough story. Atlas was gruff when they first met, thinking that Elijah had it easy and was spoiled. He quickly changes his mind about Elijah. They're both pretty nice guys. I liked that Elijah didn't have to rescue Atlas. With the rich / poor trope often that's the dynamic and it was refreshing that that didn't happen here.
I wish there had been a bit more conflict and high strung emotions. I'd kind of been hoping that Atlas would be a bitter feral gremlin of a character with a chip on his shoulder, but he was just so kind and understanding after their initial meeting.
*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

Unfortunate is the third book in the multi author series Unlucky 13. In this one, we meet Elijah, an actor who has been outed without his consent and seeks an escape at the Black Diamond spa. Even though he loves his career, it was obvious that Elijah was lonely and in search of something different for his life. He doesn’t enjoy everything that comes with fame and when he meets this big, surly guy who’s not at all impressed by his popularity, it takes him by surprise.
Atlas did the whole college thing in the past, but decided that the corporate world is not for him. He enjoys his work on the Black Diamond spa island and thinks every client that frequent it are spoiled, rich people 😅. Once he gets to know Elijah better, he realizes that there is a lot more to him and they start spending time together.
Out of everyone on this planet, it’s Atlas who I finally get to be myself with.
This book was a fun and quick read. The story was fast pace and there were very sweet and endearing scenes between the two MCs 🥰.
3.5 stars rounded up for all the times it made me smile.
This was a very sweet, low angst romance between an actor who was outed against his will, and a relatively carefree man who lives and works on an isolated tropical island. Their romance was tender and gave each of them something they'd been needing. The acceptance between them, and the amount of laughter the relationship brings to them, were joyous. It could have used a few more chapters, but given how short this is, their connection still felt believable.
This is book 3 of the Unlucky 13 shared world centered around the Black Diamond Resort and Spa. All of the books can be read as a standalone.
This book was addictive. It was hard to put down. There’s a lot of spice and heat. But it wouldn’t be a Nicole Dykes book without heart as well.
Former child actor/current action star Elijah Hunt is in exile at the resort due to an unfortunate circumstance with someone he trusted. There, he meets Atlas, a member of the cleaning crew. Atlas finds Elijah rude and entitled right off the bat. Elijah finds Atlas rude as well because he doesn’t fall all over him immediately like he is used to others doing.
Despite a rocky start and against all odds, the pair start to hang out around the island and get close. Atlas and Elijah have a strong physical relationship, but their emotional connection really packs a punch as well. I loved watching these two men unexpectedly fall for one another. Their vulnerability was so appealing.
Holden was a great side character in this story, as was Bob the monkey. Paul was a good agent. Atlas has some preconceived notions about rich people/the fortunate. Atlas loves being in paradise and having a simple life. Elijah is used to a pampered lifestyle. Elijah craves love and someone who wants him just for himself, not what he can offer.
I’m glad that Elijah and Atlas were able to get over themselves and learn from one another. These men are a perfect fit for each other. They bring happiness and a new perspective to one another’s lives. It was a joy reading this book. I cannot wait to dive back into the shared world and read some more books by the other authors in the series.
We’re back on the resort side of the island in our return to Black Diamond. And the lighter side, as well! I can always count on my girl to give me the warm fuzzies 🩵
Eli is a former child actor turned macho action star and feels forced to keep his sexuality a secret. Atlas is a good time guy who does housekeeping for the resort.
These guys definitely started off on the wrong foot, but quickly became…friends with benefits, I guess you could say? But in all reality, they became exactly what the other one didn’t know they were looking for!
Atlas helped Eli to come out of his shell and become who he’s always been inside. And Eli helped Atlas find a home in him.
This was a cute and sexy story, as only Nicole can do!
After some photos get leaked and cause a scandal for former child actor, Elijah, he gets shipped off to Black Diamond until things die down. It's there, while biding his time, that Elijah meets Atlas, a housekeeper at the resort, who instantly doesn't like him and thinks he's a spoiled brat (he is lmfao).
Despite their differences, the two decide to hook up and have some fun while Elijah is sequestered from the read world, and the more time spent together, Atlas gets to see behind the Hollywood persona Elijah puts on for the world, and sees how truly lonely and desperate for love he is.
Their story wasn't as angsty as the first two in the series, and I really loved that to be honest. I love a good instant attraction/low angst romance with some hate you/grumpy vibes, and this hit that mark for me!
It was a really sweet and quick read, perfect for summer! 😊
This is the third book in the Unlucky 13 series, but you don't need to have read the first two to follow the story of this one…
Elijah is a well-known actor who, after a scandal (which shouldn't be one at all) finds himself having to spend time at the Black Diamond Resort and Spa until the dust settles.
Atlas is a confident man and a hard-working housekeeper who is not at all impressed by Elijah’s fame, and even less by his spoiled brat attitude!
So it wasn’t exactly love at first sight for them after their first meeting. 😅
The more time they spend together, the more they realize that they both had preconceived ideas and that despite their differences, they really like each other.
"I'm glad I get to know the real you." My heart races as I look in his eyes because I am too. Out of everyone on this planet, it's Atlas who I finally get to be myself with. No one else knows me.
I really enjoyed getting to know Elijah and seeing that he was much more than he seemed at first. He was wonderful with Atlas.
And Atlas was fantastic with him too. He helped him realize what he really needed in his life to be happy.
With him, it's easy to open up, even if I didn't plan on doing it. With him, it's just as simple as opening my mouth and letting the true words come out. It's unscripted and real with him. And I really, really like it.
They were so adorable together and I loved witnessing their beautiful love story! 🧡
If you're looking for a novel with lots of swoony moments, low angst and that will leave you feeling good then look no further, this one's just the right one for you! 🥰
🏝️ MM romance 🎬 Opposites attract 🏝️ Forced proximity 🎬 Vacation romance 🏝️ First love
I absolutely loved this book and the connection between Elijah and Atlas. At this point I don't think that Nicole Dykes can write a book that I don't love!
Elijah has been betrayed by someone he trusted and goes to Black Diamond to hide away a bit and when he meets Atlas he comes across as a bit of a spoiled brat. Once Atlas gets a peek of the real Elijah they immediately connect. What I really loved was there was no push and pull or disappearing from one anothers lives for a bit, when they knew how they felt they committed and I thought that was beautiful.
When I first finished the book I was expecting to have some closure on Elijah's parents and how they treated him but after I sat on it a moment I kind of loved that the book didn't have that. Life is not wrapped in a pretty bow at the end and this really made the story more real.
I highly recommend this book and know it will go into my reread pile!

This series just keeps getting better and better! Nicole wrote an amazing addition to the series and like her other books, this was a really comforting read and low angst. Atlas and Elijah were such a dream to read, despite being polar opposites in societies eyes, they are so similar underneath it all. I loved how they interacted, and how despite the dislike they have for one another at first, they grew to learn what is behind each others walls. It was a very refreshing read that made my heart sing and I cannot wait to continue the rest of the series!
"Someday soon, I'll go back to my life, and this will just be a distant memory.
I'm going to make this one for the ages."
Unfortunate features one of those couples that make you want to slap them upside the head. Honestly, I wanted to physically sit Elijah and Atlas down and force them to spit out their true feelings. So much uncertainty and angst could have been resolved if they were just honest with one another about how they were truly feeling. That being said, I get it. The odds were stacked against them. Elijah is a famous movie star on a forced vacation at an exclusive resort after being outed. Atlas is the help, as in their meet cute is when Atlas arrives to clean the villa Elijah is staying in. I can totally see each of these men feeling too vulnerable to express their feelings after such a short time together.
"I watch his lips turn up in a smile, and I can barely take just how beautiful he really is. He looks relaxed and calm. Lying on his back, gloriously naked and sated. Mine for the moment."
I really enjoyed watching Atlas and Elijah fall in love. Even though they agreed to just hooking up, it doesn't take long for them to both see the potential for more. Hookups don't spend every non working moment together. They don't cuddle on the couch and watch TV. And they certainly don't count down the minutes until they can see one another again. I felt bad for Atlas when all his co workers made sure to warn him off Elijah. And I also felt vindication when Elijah proved all the naysayers wrong in the end. My tiny, secret vindicative side really wanted a scene where one particular coworker had to eat crow. Alas, we did not get such a scene, but we did get an amazing HEA, which in my book was even better!
This was a short, quick read that moved fast over the period of time were Elijah, mega movie star, was escaping a potential media scandal. He meets Atlas his first day there and they have a pretty instant connection. I liked both Elijah and Atlas, and I thought they were really a good fit based on the things we got to know about both their lives, but I didn't really feel a connection beyond the physical part of their relationship. They jump into bed right away and the sex scenes are smoking hot but, dare I say it, there was too much sex for me in this short a book. They jumped into bed all the time, even to avoid having the hard conversations. I needed more time getting with them getting to know each other to really feel their connection. I enjoyed both MCs, the island setting, Atlas's co-workers, and Elijah's agent (who was really great to him!), but overall this missed the mark for me on the love connection.
I’m just a little mad about how it ended. It felt so abrupt. I wish there was like 40ish more pages. I loved them together, but there needed to be more. I should be expecting everything to be simple since all of Nicole’s book are this way, but I keep hoping that there’s more. Besides that I loved Atlas and Elijah. They were so cute together. I just wanted more of them after they are public. Some kind of epilogue.
Talk about passion. Their passion ranges from annoyance, to hatred, to lust, to eventually love. Their relationship is dynamic and they both open themselves up to more when they allow themselves to see each other for who they really are. The outside world made them believe certain things, act certain ways, but the island gave them what they needed to break out of those molds and allow them to really see each other. But, they both also have trouble with voicing what they feel. When it comes to their desires, they're vocal. When it comes to their hearts, they hold back--afraid of rejection and potential pain. They work through their fears and learn the truth. They agree to do what's needed for their relationship to thrive and find the way that works best for them.
I thought that Atlas was the right fit for Elijah and gave him the freedom to be himself . Because out in LA he wasn’t happy with the person that he became and being at the resort gave Elijah the freedom to find himself.
Not only that to embrace himself and love himself for being who he really was I liked there story isn’t much I can say about both Elijah or Atlas because I was more curious about his best friend Holden lol!
Unfortunate by Nicole Dykes is book 3 in the shared world of the Unlucky 13. It has soooo many amazing tropes: opposites attract, forced proximity, vacation, first love. It features the spoiled actor, Elijah and the hardworking housekeeper, Atlas. These two had a rather rough but hilarious start until Atlas sees the real man behind the name and decides to show Elijah what it means to be himself.
I knew I could count on Nicole to give us one of the less angsty stories in this series…and I NEEDED it so bad. There’s just a little bit of sadness wrapped up in ooey gooey love, y’all, and it’s so wonderful.
I adored the way Elijah came to life with Atlas’ guidance and how Atlas realized he may have not been missing anything before Elijah but finding love was something you held on to. I loved how these two talked. There was one teeny tiny instance of miscommunication but it wasn’t bad and it was fairly understandable. It’s so refreshing to read about couples who TALK.
Nicole, you did well. I just LOVE your low angst stories. They’re comfort and pure and sweet and they make me so happy.
Two men from totally different worlds find love and happiness in paradise. When you get outed by an ex where else would you go but Black Diamond Resort. Elijah and Atlas don’t start off on the right foot but eventually find their balance and hot fling as well. But this fling does stay that way for long. Feelings get involved quite quick and both men have to figure out what they want. This was such an incredible love story, I couldn’t put it down once I started it! Can’t wait for the next book in this collection!
Nicole always writes comfort reads & this story wasn't any different. This was such a beautiful story about Elijah & Atlas, I devoured this book in just a few hours. She is one of my favourite authors for this very reason that I can come back to her books if I want to just calm my brain & looking for a comforting chill read & she never disappoints by writing such amazing stories.
Unfortunate is a story about Elijah, a child actor who got caught in a scandal & was sent to Black Diamond to spend some time relaxing away from Hollywood. Here he meets the handsome housekeeper Atlas, who thinks he is a spoiled brat & one of the fortunate ones who have everything on their beck & call. But as Atlas gets to know Elijah, he figures out how sad Elijah is from the fame which his career brings.
Elijah & Atlas start spending time together so that they could have a 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘯, but eventually, they start opening up to each other & get closer. Atlas & Elijah had beautiful chemistry, the way they were with each other & how Elijah could be 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘌𝘭𝘪𝘫𝘢𝘩 with Atlas. Though Atlas was falling for Elijah, he was scared because Elijah was going to go leave soon & go back to Hollywood & Atlas didn't want his heart to break. But I liked how they didn't give up on each other & found their HEA.
I liked Holden so much in this book, and I can't wait for him to have his book, I don't know which author will be writing his book but he has been an amazing character throughout the first two books in this series & this one too as he was Atlas's best friend.
Make sure to check out this multi-author series, which is off to a great start & I am sure you are going to love it.
I was excited to read this installment of the Black Diamond series from Nicole Dykes! I love the books I've read by her and was curious to see how she would approach her entry into this world. It's a different book than what you'd normally expect from her - less angst than normal and a more straightforward and happy romance. I really enjoyed it and getting to know Atlas and Elijah - it was a great addition to the series!
Elijah is a Hollywood actor - finding success as a child actor and now an action movie star. But he is hiding his truth from the world and it's holding him hostage. Atlas is a housekeeper at the Black Diamond resort - and proud of it. He chose this life and regrets nothing. He loves living on the island and having a simple life, as he puts it in his own words.
The two are a bit of enemies first as they get off on the wrong foot. But it doesn't take long for Atlas to see the loneliness under Elijah's superstar exterior and it calls to him. They being a steamy bit of "fun" but find themselves getting much deeper than they imagined! They are a great pair - sharing their vulnerabilities with one another very quickly - it's refreshing to see them confide in one another. And boy do they have chemistry - it's off the charts fun!
A great read without too much struggle or angst and a nice HEA - 4/5 stars!.
