Marianne Petit is a past President of the Long Island Chapter of the Romance Writers Of America.
Her love of writing stems back to high school. She spent hours reading Nancy Drew, Alfred Hitchcock and poetry. At the age of fifteen she wrote a short story for children, as well as numerous works of poetry.
Her love of history stems from her father, Roger, a Frenchman, whose love of American history greatly influenced her writing interests . “I love writing in different eras and learning all I can about that time period. I love immersing myself in the culture, the clothing, the environment and I do my best to make that era come to life on my pages. My first book takes the reader back to 1876, the year of the Little Big Horn. My second, back to the South in the 1700s. I digressed a little, with my third book a fantasy based on mythology, then I went to 1940 France and WW2 for my fourth. Behind the Mask is based on real life stories told to me by family and friends. This book is dear to my heart as I relived many of my mom and dads experiences durning this horrific time.”
Marianne is a past President of the Melville Lions club, a service organization that raises money for the less fortunate - especially the sight and hearing impaired. She devotes many hours giving back to her community and those in need. One of her favorite service projects is doing vision screenings for children. “We have saved the sight of a few children and helped a child’s ability to learn. Young kids don’t know they are seeing poorly, when they put on their “magic glasses”a whole new world opens up for them. Being a part of this project and knowing I played a part in changing a child’s life makes me proud to be part of the Lion family.”
Marianne lives in Huntington Bay Long Island with her husband, Steve, her dog, Penny and Simba the cat.
Well written story, I was drawn into the lives of these characters from the first page. Elizabeth Rose is running away from an abusive guardian and a angry town who think she is a witch and her music is evil. She is rescued by Philip Ablington who brings her to his home. Philip believes there is madness in his family and has sworn to not become involved with anyone since the death of his wife. But from the fist moment he saw Elizabeth he is captivated by her. Each is distrustful of the other and can't let their feelings show. When Elizabeth is accused of murder and taken to trial they must both believe in each other before its too late. This was a Goodreads first read. There were to sexual explicit act.
