Having read and enjoyed other books by Mr Shupert, I was not disappointed in this new book. Downfall takes us to another place where a devastating CME strike plunges the world into darkness. Lance and Sophie are great characters with very different backgrounds which makes the story interesting with plenty of danger and drama. Each chapter had me riveted and I can't wait to read what develops in the next book.

Start of a New Winner

Love the set up of 2 separate character stories and how they come together. In a world gone mad and karmic justice prevails. Good ending for a cliffhanger and cannot wait for book 2 of this series to come out and the journey to continue.

A great start!

Downfall, the first book in Derek Shupert's America Gone series, and is all around excellent! Relatable protagonists, truly detestable antagonists, tight dialogue, and lots of action make for a great read. The struggles of Lance and Sophie are set against a background of social collapse. If you're into excellent thrillers, especially of the EMP/CME survival variety, you will love this book. Plan on reading it in one sitting! 5/5 stars!

Stupid!

Stupid is the first word to come to mind. Not logical would be the second. Clumsy would be the last. If it wasn't for all the tripping by the characters........like I said, stupid.

Story !ine !aughable

Reads more like a comedy than a story of the apocalypse. Couldn't get beyond the middle it was just too badly written. Author should read what would really happen not this stupidity. Only good thing was getting the book for free so I didn't waste any money

Terrible

Couldn't get more than 40 pages. Characters

and plot unbelievable and unrealistic. More for teenagers. Also, EMP is all or nothing, no flickering or stages. Had to pass on this.

Thank you

The book was great. It was smooth flowing and active enough to keep me engaged without confusion. Really enjoyed the aspects of good people left in the world.

An enjoyable read.

I have no idea what's coming next but this story was a convoluted tale and I believe the next book will be filled with just as many twists and turns.
