Я розчарована, чекала на детектив, а читала про копів, які себе не вміють стримувати, і звинувачують без доказів, і взагалі сюжет дуже нудний.

An Excellent Novella. Mike Omer sure has packed a lot into this 77 page story. Like his other 3 novels (which are all fantastic reads), he has once again shown what a great writer he is. Great characters, and the story flows really well. I enjoyed the fact that I couldn’t work out who the killer was. It seems quite ironic to Detectives Bernard and Hannah, when they start to investigate the murder of Jacqueline Mune, that she purchased a gun recently for her safety, and now it looks like someone might have used her own gun to murder her. It’s not going to be easy to find the killer, as everyone in the area seemed to like Jacqueline, as she was a psychic and tarot card reader, among other services she provided. However, when Bernard and Hannah start to dig a bit deeper, there seems to be a few people that had reason for wanting the psychic dead. Now they just need to work out was it one of clients, a relative, or just someone random of the street. Do yourself a favour and give his books a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Wow! This was perfect. Such a short book with so much depth., great characters, amazing writing, and a great detective story. I just want to showcase this and show to the writers who write extra long books, how to tell a compelling story using a few words.
In just 80 pages, the author is able to give enough of the detective's back story, his dynamics with his partner, a glimpse into his family life, the detailed police procedural, more than 4 suspects, his logical reasoning , some information on psychics, on doing business online...
There was this pervert dog who was fascinated by Bernard 's leg, which had nothing to do with the story, but gave me a hearty laugh every time it appeared.
I am so happy to find a new and promising author. Adding more to my TBR. Sigh!

"Captivating"
Detective Bernard Gladwin leans over the blood-covered body of a woman, one about 60 years of age with long gray and white hair. Bernard's partner is Detective Hannah Shor. They work long hours and learn the victim, Jacqueline Mune, was a Spiritual Adviser and Psychic Reader, with over 30 years experience. This is an exemplary murder investigative procedural story which moves along very well, it's very intriguing and well written. I think the author is qualified to become a crime detective in real life! He's very talented. Highly recommend.

A terrific short story in the Glenmore Park Series. You can read it as a stand alone without a problem but I do recommend the entire series if you like crime fiction.#CrimeFiction #mike_omer

It's a very quick read - a condensed version of Omer's normal Glenmore Park Mysteries. You don't have to read the other books or know the characters to get into the story. This is a great mini-mystery. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the story!

I listened to the audio book at work and a little bit at home. Not me turning into an audio book girly lol this was only 3 hours which was nice bc I've listened to podcasts & YouTube videos longer than that! Quick story, good enough plot, like an episode of Law and order svu. I didn't guess the murderer at all. Got a few chuckles out of me too! I would do this again. 🤓

I read this short story in a few hours and enjoyed it. It wasn't fantastic, but the character development was good, considering how short it is. However, the book did not convince me to take up the rest of the books in the series. I have too many other books I want to read.

Not the same level of thriller aspect as his usual but that’s probably because it’s 70 odd pages long.

A fun novella (if a murder can ever be described as fun) by one of my favourite authors. Not a lot to say about this one, except that if you’ve enjoyed the other Glenmore Park books, you’ll definitely enjoy this one too. A nicely intriguing murder involving psychics (with the usual jokes about not foreseeing their own demise), some entertaining business with the detectives and the author’s trademark humour. Recommended for existing fans or as a taster for the series. Five stars.

Very good "Whodunit" novel
This was an entertaining novella read in a few hours. Mike Omer proves to be one of my favorite author's of thrillers - murder mysteries. I've read all of his work and looking forward to his next novel.

Great reading.
As all of Mike Omer books this one wasn't a disappointment. I've read 4 of his books and if you like solving a crime with a twist of lust I recommend any of his writings. Can't wait to start my next book.

Suspense with style
Omer never disappoints. Riveting , intelligent suspense, engaging characters , subtle humor, always with a twist. My new favorite author.

Simple story with interesting characters
The Glenmore Park series is interesting. This short story was a g.ood appetizer.

Mike Omer wrote another book about police officers from Glenmore Park*. Someone shot a hereditary psychic herbalist in her own house. Who responds to her death: members of the local gang, a disgruntled client, or a competitor? Detectives Bernard and Hanna will try to solve the case. If you have read previous books from this cycle, you may already be familiar with these characters. If it's not - don't worry, it doesn't matter for understanding this story.
Overall, the book is alright but dull. The plot is trivial, the main characters are not impressive, and the plot twist is reminiscent of a soap opera. "A Death Unpredicted" feels like a slow-burn detective story in the style of Agatha Christie, but it doesn't have the right atmosphere, and the police officers need more charisma.
There are a lot of detectives/thrillers on the book market. That's why I can't recommend "A Death Unpredicted" as something you desperately need to read. But it's an acceptable option if you are in isolation without the internet and have this novel in your hand.

Few words about the whole cycle. It started with the fine book «Spider's Web». The police, under enormous pressure, tried to catch the maniac. The psycho-killer cruelly takes the life of women and threatens to do it again and again. That was an absorbing and eerie story. But next… It feels like the author lost his interest - no more thrilling stories or well-written characters.
Maybe sometimes you need to stop on one novel and don’t create the cycle.

Detectives Bernard and Hanah are called to a murder scene where a seemingly well loved older woman has been killed. It turns out that she has recently gotten a gun because someone was threatening, or at least harassing her.
They find out that she did fortune-telling and was quite famous in the neighborhood which was in one of the run-down areas of town. Even the gangs in the community held her in high esteem and went to her for readings, and one even helped her get a gun. As things go on, Bernard finds that the murder might just be form someone closer to home but who.
There is, in fact, a convoluted web of drama behind the killing, with the fortune telling business just part of the background, so to speak.
For a novella, it is quite an twisted plot and we even get to see what Bernards home life is like. I recommend this to anyway who likes mysteries with intriguting plots but are told in a quick concist manner.

Interesting quick read
I read this book very quickly. I think that it could have been a great book and not just a Novella. There was so much that could have been done to expand on physics and tarot card readings. Also the different uses of the herbs and oils involved in the trade. Do you believe in looking into the future? Do you think that people really have this ability? What would you ask about or for? In my opinion I think that some are very good at profiling the person. You can see and feel what body signals convey. I don't believe yet people will burn through so much money for this. I think that the future is what you make of it. Maybe, the psychic told you that your true love was tall with dark hair so you forget about the blonde that has had a crush on you and enjoys getting to know you more. Was the one you let go your true love?

The author has the sense not to say it, but I can't stop myself:- How come she didn't see it coming?
This time around it is Glenmore Park detectives Hannah Shor and Bernard Gladwin who are in charge of the investigation.
Bernard finds himself the object of canine lust from a keen leg-humping poodle.
And his kids are driving him up the wall.
Psychic Jacqueline Mune lived in a tough neighbourhood but only recently bought a gun off the street.
There's no sign of it at the murder scene.
As is usual in the series there's a lot of work put into going absolutely nowhere and it is the slimmest of a clue that leads to the identity of the killer.
It's short but nicely done.

Pretty good read
This one wasn’t bad, although not the best from this author. The story moves along at a kind of slow pace and then comes crashing together in an odd way. I still love the characters which made it worth reading but if it had been the first book I read from this author, I may not have picked up another one.

interesting story with plenty of twists and turns
This was an interesting crime novella. It had plenty of twists and turns as they tried to figure out who the murderer was and why. The story kept my attention and was interesting. It’s a short story and had a well thought out and planned plot.

Fun quick read - interesting case with solid police work and some character development for Bernard and Hannah. I like the way Omer writes his partnerships with a focus on the overall symmetry while highlighting the nuanced, tiny frustrations that come from working with someone closely each day.

Неплохая детективная повесть. Похоже на набросок книги, слишком подробный, чтобы забросить, но дописывать который больше тоже не хотелось. Жаль не расписал побольше сам эзотерический бизнес, могло бы быть интереснее.

A unique story and a twist at the end. Omer does a good job of giving you the pieces as you go. If you read or watch things like this you make notes and know they will add up to something but you never know what until the very end where he gives you one last detail to tie it all together.

Very interesting book about two detectives solving the murder of a woman who s Los herbs and potions and casts spells. She is very well liked in her community by the local drug crowd. It is a quick audiobook for a long drive. Only 3 or 3.5 hours.
