Since 1990, the critically acclaimed, Peabody Award-winning MTV Unplugged series has become a genuine cultural phenomenon, serving as the forum for a wide variety of musical performers. Now the full story of this popular series is captured in a beautifully designed book featuring 200 photos, eye-catching graphics, and a wealth of information about Eric Clapton, Melissa Etheridge, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, and others.
The first edition of this book received deserved attention in design circles when it first appeared, but its $50 cover price likely doomed it in terms of mainstream sales. Less than a year after its release, it could be found in bargain bins for $15.
Nonetheless, it's still a refreshingly creative piece--from its original die-cut spiral binding to its richly vibrant photography. And now, well over a decade removed from the heyday of the landmark MTV UnPlugged, it's enjoyably nostalgic.
Scored on this at a thrift store. Normally don't pay more than a buck for a used book but paid $6.00 so much better than $50! I had forgotten some of these performances and wished some of the pictures were bigger.
