Rick Belluzzo and Krish Dhanam offer their “Lessons from the Boardroom to the Break Room” based on their extensive experience with companies such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Quantum, and the Zig Ziglar Corporation. This little book captures their wisdom in capsule form, designed to guide readers along the path to a point where IQ meets EQ and quality of life results. When head and heart, skill and will, and strategic formula and emotional foundation merge, leaders can excel professionally and personally, and organizational cultures become more dynamic and productive.
I’m 27 years old and in a position of leadership, and found some insights helpful.
I bought this book because I heard Krish Dhanam speak and I was deeply impacted by his words.
What the authors wrote in this book seem very brief advice. I would have preferred if it was expounded on more.
I do like the questions at the end of each chapter as some sort of reflection.
Other notes:
Some of the things the authors wrote will probably challenge today’s generation, but I do appreciate it. It’s a sort of old vs new, but old works and it works well.
The authors have the exact opposite tones or writing styles. One seem more straightforward and worldly. Another takes a more humble, closer to home approach. So I guess it makes it wholistic and true to the book title.
Summary:
Read and pick up the little nuggets of information that are currently applicable to your situation. Then after a while, come back to it and pick up other nuggets of wisdom for the next part of your journey or change.
