Nestor (Board Book) by Quentin Gréban this is a good book for the second grade class I was reading this book for. The Cute monkey who teaches the students that accepting friends is more important than advice. Learning the miss conception of elephants made Nestor to get into a problem. Its his acceptance of help that creates a friendship. A good resource for social emotional learning.
I really enjoyed this book. It teaches the reader a great message by using animals as the characters. This story is about a little monkey named Nestor. Nestor wants to go fishing down at the river by himself, without his father. His father didn't want him to go, but he eventually allowed him to. His dad told him that he could go if he was very careful to avoid hedgehogs, alligators and elephants. While Nestor is at the river, he is sure to avoid all of the animals that his father told him to. While Nestor is fishing up in a tree, the branch he was sitting on broke and he fell into the river. The elephant that he was supposed to be avoiding ended up saving him from his fall! Nestor and the elephant end up becoming great friends. This book teaches the reader that they shouldn't judge people by their appearance and people can be a lot nicer than you would expect. I like that this message is put in such a simple way by using animals as characters.
This story is about a little monkey named Nestor, who wants to go fishing down at the river without the guidance of his father. His dad tells him he can go but he must be careful and avoid the hedgehogs, alligators, and the elephants. While Nestor is at the river he makes sure to avoid all the animals his dad warns him about, but ends up fishing by hanging off a branch. The branch snaps while he is sitting on it and Nestor falls into the river, but luckily an elephant saves him. The elephant and Nestor become friends forever! This book would be good to show students that they shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
Nestor (Hardcover) by Quentin Gréban Read this to a second grade class, for helping them on their reading comprehension. The children needed to answer the question what did the elephant do and how did he help. It was a cute story about learning the truth about others instead of believing what you have been told by others. A simple story for the early readers. A good read aloud book for k-2
Nestor is a little monkey who's growing up and wants to do some things on his own. Fishing, for example. He father warns him of the many dangers around the jungle and then lets him go off. One of those dangers is elephants. But Nestor quickly learns that even "dangerous" things can make good friends.
Nestor falls into a river and is rescued by an elephant. His father had warned him never to go near an elephant, because they are tricky animals. Good book to read about making friends.
