Montana Sky #2

Starry Montana Sky

Rate this book
Since her husband’s death, Samantha Sawyers Rodriguez and her son have been little more than prisoners on her father-in-law’s estate in 1890s Argentina. Now, thanks to her late uncle, she has an inheritance—a Montana ranch that she plans to transform into a sanctuary for orphaned boys while raising her family’s miniature horses.
Not everyone in Sweetwater Springs, however, is happy about her arrival. Samantha’s neighbor, Wyatt Thompson, insists she has no idea what she’s taking on—with the ranch or with the neglected boys she’s adopted. Though she can’t deny her attraction to Wyatt, Samantha intends to succeed on her own terms. But when a string of fires turns the locals against her boys, she and Wyatt see all they have to lose—and gain—in this wild and beautiful country.

Another fluffy read and it was an enjoyable story. Although if I see the word "blushed" again I think I might just be sick. Sick to death of the characters blushing whenever they so much as looked at each other! Bleugh! Otherwise, great characters, not bad storyline and a cute fluffy romance.

Debra writes a compelling story of lost, pain, sorrow, abuse, hate, learning to find your way, learning to trust and opening your heart not only to love but to children who need so much understanding. This story touched me in so many ways to many to count. I love the west, cowboys from long ago. What it must have been like to live then with people dying so young, loosing so much. Children left alone to make it on their own in the wild with open land, little or no shelter, out in rain, storms, wild animals. How scared they must have been...

We all know about wicked mother-in-laws, here we learn about wicked father-in-laws. A man who couldn't stand the fact that his Spanish son picked an American women to wed. After her husbands death he made her and her sons life a living hell. Oh to break away, be free to live a life where no one told you what to do. You can feel their pain along with the feeling of freedom they got when they were about to leave his home and be out from under his hands.

Life still isn't easy for them, her son is of mix breed. People are not to crazy about this and make their life hard. When Samantha takes in the care of the wild twins she most win them over. This isn't easy since the whole town is against them. 2 strikes isn't enough there must be more, with strike 3 being her wonderful neighbor who turns out not to be so wonderful and how dare he think he can have her land. What else could go wrong, looks like a lot....

Sparks fly as Samantha and Wyatt hit head on over many issues. He being a man knows what is best and her red hair should have worn him of her tempter. He doesn't want to want her but the heart is funny when it picks someone to love. They must get through a lot before they can even think about love. He doesn't want those little horses nor does he want her to take in the twins. He is about to find out he has a major fight on his hands, she is a little spit fire and isn't she cute when she looses her tempter. Samantha finds him overbearing along with a few other words that aren't lady like. Lord he is a handsome devil one that pulls at her heart but first he must learn a few lessons but no way no how is she going to fall for him....

I must touch on those beautiful miniature horse, you are going to laugh so hard you cry when you read about Wyatt's first meeting them. That was just to funny...I can't wait to listen to this audio again later on down the road. I look so forward to those horses and the eye's they raise....

This is one hot read that will keep you smiling, laughing as the author takes you through many twist and turns. You will find characters here you will love and some you will not. You will fall in love with the little horse and find they might be useful no matter what their size. You will even get to revisit a few characters from her first book to see how they are doing. I fell in love with Debra's writing style with her first book and have grow to fall more in love with each word she writes. If you haven't read any of her books you sure do not know what you are missing. To listen to them on an audio is a pleasure you do not want to miss.

I really love how Ms. Holland balances the romance with the faith of her characters. I do believe that for many living the rural life in this time period that faith was an important part of survival and as such removing it entirely from the storyline can be as distracting as letting it take the primary role. These first two books in the series still have a lot of great chemistry and even a tiny bit of steaminess to them (not terribly graphic, but more so than most inspirational romances). The faith is there in the story, but not the primary force or overdone like so many other Christian books I've read in recent years. I'll definitely continue reading this series. It has proven to be one of my favorite historical western romances I've read this year.

Once you start this series, you can't stop!

I realized half way through the story that I was reading out of order. But it didn't take away from the exciting conclusion of Samantha and Wyatt's path to love.

Duplication

This was to much like the first book. It seems as if the author just replaced the characters with different names and added the miniature horses.

Samantha is a widow, living in Argentina under the thumb of her late husband's father. When she inherits a rundown ranch in Montana, she packs up her little boy and her six miniature horses and returns to the United States. There, she refurbishes her ranch and falls in love with a widower, a neighbor who has a young daughter. In short order, Samantha adopts twin orphan boys and a Blackfoot boy, expanding her brood to four. With the help of the town, new friends, and a new romance with Wyatt, Samantha and her small herd of Falabellas become a cornerstone of the town of Sweetwater Springs. The horses are a nice aspect of the story, as they work their magic with children who are dealing with heartache. Falabellas are a real thing, BTW. Adorable. I'm hooked on this series.

Cowboy Romance

This story brings together the handsome cowboy widower raising a young daughter and the beautiful widowed mother with a young son under the wide Montana sky. She inherits the ranch next to his when her uncle dies. The very ranch he was in hopes of buying. Circumstances seem to constantly bring the two strong willed and stubborn ranchers together as they both find themselves discovering feelings they'd thought they would never feel again. Throw in a pair of rebellious orphaned twin brothers that she takes into her home and the sparks fly at every turn. I enjoyed this book very much and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. Well done Debra!

Absolutely Marvelous Tale

Surely when you read this story of finding redeeming love, you'll feel all the better. Wyatt and Samantha are both unsure about love, as are the twin boys, Jack and Tim. People forget all too quickly that they are little boys that life has dealt a horrible hand. When the person who is supposed to love and care for you is arbitrary and vicious, it can be hard to trust anyone.
Samantha's capacity for love is unlimited, and even Wyatt benefits.
Read on this delightful tale

Samantha and her son Daniel move from South America to Montana with her Falabellas. They are neighbors to Wyatt and Christine. Then the twins Jack and Tim to Samanthas home. They are also known as the bad troublesome twins. Then comes Little Feather to her mix. She has a hard time getting the community to see her new family as good. Add in the towns people who are against them and their children to make a great read.

Montana series

Debra Holland did a great job writing this series. Each book is a stand alone. Debra Holland kept the secret of this book from all of us until the time of suspense was released! I was able to visualize the horses and the cave !
My heart cried out for the innocent boys, and a rod in my hand for Ben and Arlie!! I'm not finished with the series yet and need to follow up with the next book!

Fantastic 2nd Story in this Series!

This story has loads of interesting twists and turns. The author moves the story along, but gives you time stamps to help keep track of the big jumps in time. This meant not having some details, but in the end she moved to bigger events. More than most authors in this genre, she had lots of interacting with previous and future characters.

New beginnings

The main characters in this story have all experienced grief. When hard times come we often wish for a new beginning. Inherited land and a new town held promise. A small town filled with gossip, prejudice, and false accusations came close to ending their happiness. It's a good story.

Good read

I love this series. I don’t know how the heroine in the story kept from ripping into some of the prejudiced, narrow minded people who presented the greatest challenge to fairness and truth, but having a good solid man and most importantly a solid Faith made her miracles happen. Enjoy 👍👍👍💜

Samantha was really out of options, except for her and her son to live in her father-in-law's audience as they had since her husband's death. However when her uncle died and left her a ranch in Montana she moved her little family to a new future in the West ! Awesome BOOK!!!! Great read!!!

Montana romance

This, and all of the books she's authored that I've read, are beautifully descriptive of their Montana setting. Really, a love letter to the wild splendor of Montana. She writes wonderfully developed characters about rugged cowboys, strong women, love, faith and friendship. Highly recommend!

Excellent romance

Without the additional graphic sex of many romance novels these days, these stories are filled with heartfelt love, tenderness, and happiness. There are some moments of anger, passion, and misunderstanding along the way with a great backstory of orphans, bigotry, snobbery and some tiny horses that steal the show.

Very enjoyable read

Even though this story is set in the 1800’s in Montana, it still reverberates issues that mankind deals with through the ages...bullying, lying, and secrets. A beautiful setting for a beautiful story.

A very beautiful story!

I loved this book, having been the proud owner of more than one mini horse, it was extremely fun to read it! I loved the romance part too, of course, along with the children. The best so far in this series!
