Single Dads' Club #1

The Rehearsal Fling

Rate this book
I never expected the hottest one-night-stand of my life to turn up at my studio as the grumpy single dad to one of my dance students.

But teaching here is only a temporary gig because at the end of six weeks I’m moving on.

And it was all going according to plan until Dylan Matthews showed up with his dangerous gaze and stubbled jaw and six pack abs.

With my self-imposed deadline growing nearer, I have no time or desire to get emotionally involved with a man. But a no-string-attached fling I could handle.

Or so I thought.

Besides Dylan’s talents in the bedroom or car or office, he’s unexpectedly sweet under his stern glower, and no amount of rehearsing is enough for me to smile when I eventually have to say goodbye.

I absolutely devoured this book! I went into this with absolutely no expectations as this was my first book by the author and WOW I was blown away.
This spice shocked me, I was not expecting there to be that much or that hot as this was a pretty sweet small town romance so that was an amazing bonus.
I found myself getting really invested in these characters and falling for them all even the side characters.
There were soo many swoon worthy moments, Dylan was so dreamy and just seemed really mature and somewhat had his shit together which is so attractive.
The only thing stopping this from being 5/5 is I was just begging for more scenes of them as an actual couple with the kids!

Thank you so much to the author Sophie Andrews for an advance copy of this!

Content Warnings from the Author:

Sophie has done it again!!!

I knew from the first chapters that I was going to love this book. There is just something about the way Sophie writes that just puts you into the atmosphere of the book.

"What's your favorite color?"
He tossed me a look.
"Red, obviously."

Gen & Dylan. Sigh.
I love them so much together! They provided so much balance to one another and as an audience reading about them you couldn't help but root for them the whole way. And plus who doesn't want to see two hot people get together?! *fans self*

Dylan gave us two different sides of himself: being this wonderful father and then being a sexual being. I love how he has this circle of friends that are all single and have these little ones and they created this small community for themselves. One of my favorite moments of the book is when he just casual hangs at the bar that Gen works at and they proceed to continue to get to know each other and then the end of chapter had be clapping. I smiled through majority of the chapters but this one I was definitely grinning from ear to ear. I also loved how we got a peek into the relationship between Dylan and his ex wife and how they work through their custody and how they treat one another.

Genevieve. I really loved her as a female main character. She has this goal/dream and doesn't want to let that go and is so driven to convince everyone (including herself) that she still can be this amazing dancer. I also like how this book has a woman who "failed" and has moved back to her hometown and has multiple jobs which is a REALISTIC scenario. She was just so well written. She is Dylan's daughter's dance teacher and those moments at the dance studio really made my heart flutter because they had to be restrain themselves for their attraction to one another - HOT.

"Ah, Genevieve," he grated, "no amount of time could have prepared me for you."

The spice. WHEWWWW!!! The last book I read by Andrews gave me everything I wanted so I knew it was going to be grand in this and boy was it! We got that bedroom scene very early on (as this relationship starts off as a one night stand) and even 40 pages I was kicking my feet with excitement for these two. As I mentioned above, they just come off like such hot people and who wouldn't want to see two hot people banging it out LOL

I am VERY excited to read the other single dad books and hope that we get to see what Dylan and Genevieve are up to in those books.

If you are looking for a steamy, hot single dad romance, dual POV that gives you all feelings - check this out!!

I will admit, I went into this blind, so was expecting a wedding setting, not a dance recital, but was pleasantly surprised. Was a bit surprised that the FMC thought the epitome of sexy was backwards baseball caps and unsmiling grumps who only listen to country music, but to each their own. So glad the FMC didn't sacrifice an important part of herself in the end.

This is my first book by Sophie Andrews and for me it was really sweet and romantic.

Genevieve is visiting her brother for six weeks and to do something with her time, she starts bartending in her brother's bar and at the same time giving dance lessons to children. She never expected her one-night stand to show at her studio, being one of her students'fathers.

They keep meeting again and again for their one-night, together keeps reflecting on them. Genevieve was really good and sweet, but she knew she had a timeline for her stay and didn't want to make promises she didn't know she could keep. Dylan is fully drawn to her, but he knows he can't step on the boundary with her being his best friend's sister. And with the fact that he is not sure he can give her enough with her staying for 6 weeks. But with the sizzling pull between each other, both of them can't stop falling in love. The love scenes were really hot and sweet and for me they were enough.

What I particularly liked was that there wasn't that much drama towards the ending of the book. Both of them were perfect for each other and they deserved their happiness.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading "The Rehearsal Fling".

Wow. There was something about this book that I really liked. The Male lead is one of them, he knows he has mistakes and he is ready to change, to be a better person and father to his children.
Dylan became a vulnerable in some part but it was just right not so awkward or too much, I also really liked his character development. I love him for that...
I like the connection between Dylan and Genevieve. The scene in their one night stand was also smooth, not too much, not corny but just right... I love it haha.
The plot of the whole book is perfect for me. Not lacking, not rushed because it's just right. I like the author's writing style. Overall I like everything in this book. This book gave me a lesson. It's okay to make mistakes, as long as possible you will not repeat your mistake. Because you'd rather fix everything and be a good person. I totally agree with Gen on what she said written below:

"By now, I’d learned the difference between his scowls and stares, how his dry humor was the way he showed his love, and that his so- called grumpy personality was all a mask. This man felt things deeply, loved widely, and he hid it from the world, scared of messing up again." -Gen

So first off I would like to say that I am a BIG fan of the author -Sophie Andrews and seem to enjoy every book that I read from her.

So about this one...... Genevieve has a one-night stand with Dylan, who she meets while bartending at a pub. (which her brother owns). It was supposed to be just a one-time thing and she didn't think she was ever going to see him again. Until he showed up at dance class at the studio that she works for. Yup, she has two jobs. He is a single dad who is doing the special person dance with his daughter. Sophie (Dylan's daughter) really likes Miss Gen and is her fav dance teacher.
Small world right?

I really liked the background characters, they were great add to this story. They made it soooo much better. And I really loved our two main characters (Genevieve and Dylan) there is soooo much chemistry and pull between these two. So sweet and also so spicy.
Dylan is an amazing dad, but he had to do a lot of work on his life and himself to get to where he is and we learn about that. Good backstory is given to help us understand the characters better.

Such a great book, loved it.

I am so glad to have the opportunity to read this book, thanks to the publisher and to Booksiren. THe above is my review/opinions on the book, it is honest and voluntary.

ARC Review
4.5/5 - Genevieve has a one night stand with Dylan, who she meets while bartending at a pub. Thinking she’d never see him again, imagine her shock when he turns up at her dance studio and his daughter is her student. Genevieve is in the middle of figuring out what exactly she wants to do in her career, and she only has 6 weeks to decide whether she’s staying or leaving. But Dylan has thrown a wrench in her decision, and she needs to decide if she wants to chase after her career or chase after love.

I reallyyyyy liked this read. Short, sweet, and spicy 🥵. I found it was perfectly paced for the length of the book, and it didn’t lack character depth. Dylan and his group of single dad friends are so cute, and I loved seeing their dynamic throughout the book; I was PUMPED to read the sneak peek at the end and see who the next book would be written on 👀 v excited. How Genevieve and Dylan navigate their “fling”, Dylan being a dad, and the inevitability of the end of what they have going on wasn’t awkward or forced, and I appreciated how the MC’s were portrayed and their dialogue surrounding it. I especially loved being able to see the sacrifices Dylan made for Genevieve and how he was so solid in himself that he was okay letting her go if that’s what she wanted (guess you’ll have to wait to see what happens). Great read - my favourite one from Sophie so far.

“But that’s the beauty of love. We’re all a little bit undeserving of it. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have it.”

Massive thanks to the author, Sophie Andrews, for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t really know I was into the single dad trope until this. I’ve enjoyed it previously, but I LOVED it here. Dylan is a single dad with two kids, and after his one-night stand with Genevieve he finds out she’s his daughter’s dance teacher. Their chemistry is absolutely smoldering from the beginning, and I was so giddy reading their story.

Both Dylan and Gen are working through a lot. Dylan working through his divorce, and Gen is recovering from her ACL surgery. As a dancer, she just wants to be back on stage, but her internal conflicts between leaving and staying feel so real. Dylan wants to be the best father he can and he’s in therapy to work through his issues. He’s concerned a relationship won’t be good for his kids.

“I’ll think you’re perfect a lifetime from now. You can’t do anything to change my mind.”

Everything about this book is perfect. From the characters to the plot to the resolution. Nothing feels forced and the dual perspectives are just so good. I loved this book so much. You do not want to sleep on this one.

I absolutely devoured this book! I couldn’t put it down!!
Dylan and Genevieve are so relatable as both individuals and a couple. I loved that they didn’t lose themselves as they got deeper feelings for one another. They also respected one another and their boundaries.

Dylan was an awesome MMC. A grumpy dad who is a cinnamon roll for his kiddos😍 He struggled to communicate in his past relationship and is currently working on it which you can see throughout the book.

Genevieve was so relatable as a character. She has a big decision to make in regards to her future and has some past hurts she is working through.

This is the first book in an interconnected series about single dads and I cannot wait to read about the other guys’ stories!!

Overall Sophie hit it out of the park with a sweet and spicy story about this single dad and a dance teacher!

Thank you Sophie Andrews and Grey’s Promotions for this ARC read!

This is a new author for me and this is the first time I read something she wrote. I like her writing style, the characters are described as average people and not some fancy guys with millions and crazy cars.

The problems faced by divorced parents and their relationship with ex-partners are also described. Also, I liked how family and friendship relationships were described, it is a relationship full of love and understanding.

What I didn't like was that I felt absolutely no connection between the main characters of the book. Maybe I wasn't in the mood, so that's my impression. All in all, the book was ok, ideal for weekend relaxation.

Loved it

I chose to read this book because of the single dad and dancer angle. That part of the story was done very well. Dylan and Gen had great chemistry from the very beginning. They both had their separate paths of baggage to work through and we were left wondering at times if they would get out of their own way.

THE REHEARSAL FLING is steamy, romantic, grumpy guy/softhearted dad, and the art of the blended family. I hope the other two single dads in Dylan’s “club” get their stories told, too.

I will read anything Sophie Andrews writes she is definitely an auto buy author for me.

This book was everything I was looking for and more Dylan and Genevieve were so stinking cute and I loved that them getting together didn't stop her from living her dreams she got to do both which isn't something I'm used to seeing in romance books.

Scarlett and Tucker really stole the show though 😂

Oh this one ate. This one actually ate. If you want a basic synopsis of this book, listen to I Can’t Be in Love with You by Clay Barker… it had everything I like to read in books: a single sad, a small town, a grumpy man who’s obsessed with the sunshine girl, and some nice spice ;) absolutely DEVOURED

Tropes: single dad, grumpy x sunshine, friends with benefits, forced proximity, brother’s best friend

What happens when a one night stand turns into the “real deal”?

Genevieve and Dylan have no intention of ever seeing one another again, even after they have a fantastic evening together. But they do. At dance practice. For Dylan’s daughter. And Gen is the teacher. What began as a one night stand becomes more complicated as the two can’t stay away from one another. It isn’t until Genevieve accepts a job on a cruise ship that things end for good. Or do they?

I loved the premise of this story and the further in I got, the more hooked I was. It was a little slow in the beginning though, which is why I only gave the book three stars. I feel like it took me forever to get through and it wasn’t until the last fourth of the story that I really cared about the characters and their relationship.

What I loved the most? The ending. I love how the author chose to handle the passing of time and Gen’s absence. Seriously, probably the best time passage I have ever read. It was creative, varied, and exciting. It didn’t feel like the filler that can exist in books like this at all.

I will definitely read the next daddy book 😘

An entire series based about a friend group of single dads?! Sign. Me. Up!
.
A small town, single dad romance about a grumpy man, his ridiculously adorable daughter and the dance teacher he can’t stop thinking about. Packed with all the tension that comes with the forced proximity trope, enough steam to keep your pages sizzling, the sweetest, swooniest daddy daughter moments and a cast of fun side characters I can’t wait to read more about... my first Sophie Andrews book did not disappoint!
.
I loved the way that Dylan loved! Completely, unabashedly and unafraid to take that leap once he knew what he wanted. Genevieve was a breath of fresh air. A bright and kind woman, who wasn’t scared to fight for what she wants, even if she fails. Her struggles felt more than relatable to me. These two had the best chemistry and it was genuinely fun to read their love story unfold. This little family found a special place in my heart.

This is my first Sophie Andrews read and I can't wait for more. The Rehearsal Fling is the first book in the Single Dad Club series. This book follows Dylan and Genevieve, written in dual POV. I thought it was a super cute book, with a little heartbreak on the road to their HEA.

✔️ Single Dad
✔️ Divorced
✔️ Retired from the MLB
✔️ Dancer

Dylan is a 34 year old divorced single father of two. Scarlet is 6 years old and Tucker is 3 years old. He doesn't date because he wasn't a good husband and doesn't think he could have anything good. He played in the MLB a little bit but was injured quite a few times, and now he owns his own auto shop.

Genevieve is a 30 year old dancer and part time bartender. She's a former Rockette and now dance teacher. She's planning on auditioning to be a dancer on a cruise ship and will be leaving town in a few weeks.
___________________________________
❤️ "This had to be a sign, her being here. I had been an athlete, and I had my superstitions. Most of all, I trusted my gut."
___________________________________
Dylan and his single dad friends head out to the bar one night where he meets Genevieve. I feel like he's billed as the grumpy MMC but he just has RBF - he only smiles for his children and eventually Gen. The two of them flirt back and forth at the bar, and she decides to do something out of character and take him home. They agree it's a one time thing, until he shows up at the dance studio she teaches at. His daughters group has a "special person" dance during the recital and he's there to learn his dance.
___________________________________
❤️ "I was in deep. So fucking deep with this girl, and I had no desire to crawl out. Not when she was yawning so cutely and hunkering down like she belonged here. With me."
___________________________________
After multiple attempts he convinces her that they should mess around. He's not good at relationships and she's leaving, so she agrees. But, they start to spend a lot of time together, she sees him teaching kids baseball, they go for ice cream with his kids, he makes her dinner and she sleeps over, he takes her to the farmers market and "claims her" in front of his friends so they don't get any ideas about talking to her.
___________________________________
❤️ "I pushed down the lump of possession in my throat, the same reflex that had me claiming her in front of my friends. After getting on her knees in public—for all intents and purposes—there was no way I could let her go now."
___________________________________
They both realize they are falling for one another but he's afraid to admit it because he can't be selfish and ask her to stay for him. She finally breaks down and tells him that she's in love with him, and she hopes he asks her to stay. But he doesn't, and he tells her he can't be who she needs. So, she leaves. It takes him 2 weeks to go and get his girl back, he has to wait 6 months for her
___________________________________
❤️ "I’d told him that he was becoming a problem for me, but he already was a problem. This was supposed to be casual. No strings attached, no hurt feelings at the end, and yet I was a magnet, unable to fight the pull to him."
___________________________________
❤️ "I couldn’t speak out loud what I felt for her. I couldn’t make it real, because I knew if I did, I wouldn’t be able to let her go."

SOME THOUGHTS AS I WAS READING.
▪️I love how they play 20 questions during their one night stand. And continue during their relationship.
▪️The special someone dance? Okay ovaries exploding.
▪️Welll.... damn! ⬇️
“I’m going to strip you naked and lick you until you’re begging for me to fuck you.”
▪️The backwards hat, a woman's kryptonite 🤤⬇️
"He was adorable with his kids, wore his hat backward, and did the arm over the back of the seat thing? It was like he was trying to kill me."
▪️The single dad club with Jude and Liam. 🤣
▪️The way Paige acted at Scarlets birthday party was rude, I thought she coule have said something after the party.
▪️And now Paige is the voice of reason? Love how she told him to go get his girl.
▪️FINALLLLLLY. you idiot. why did it take so long to go to Florida for her?
▪️I can't freaking wait for Liam's story.

❤️ "We were both breathing hard, and I lowered my forehead to hers so her every exhale was my inhale, and at some point, I lost myself to what we were doing, like an out-of-body experience."

Dylan's celebrating with his friends of the Single Dads Club when he sees a gorgeous bartender that he's immediately drawn to. They have a delicious night together, neither expecting to ever see each other again. Until he walks into the dance class she's teaching, with his adorable daughter. And it looks like he wants a repeat even though Genevieve isn't having it. She can't date one of her student's fathers, can she?

Genevieve's at a crossroads in her career when she meets a grumpy single dad who, along with his daughter and son, take her heart. But she's got a contract to sign, which means she won't be in town for long. But she could always come back to where she's found not just love, but family. After all, her brother's here, too, and now Dylan, Scarlett and Tucker. If she can adjust her vision for the future, she just might find out what's really important.

Dylan is delicious. Grumpy on the outside, gooey cinnamon roll on the inside, with a smokin' hot dirty talking mouth. I love that he actively works on becoming a better person, a better dad, and as we see, a better partner. He had made a lot of mistakes in the past, but to his credit, acknowledged them, and set about reversing them by being better. Genevieve is the lucky lady who reaped all the rewards for Dylan's becoming better, but she couldn't be more deserving of it. She's so relatable - facing down an uncertain future in her chosen career, and having to figure everything out even when she's blindsided by a new love. Scarlett and Tucker make an adorable addition to the mix, and the other guys in the Single Dads Club have me all impatient for their stories next.

Hot dads, dance studios, and a one-night stand that comes back to bite—in the best way possible. 😏💃🍼

Big THANK YOU to Sophie Andrews for the advance copy!! I’m still smiling like an idiot over Gen and Dylan and their sweet, spicy, second-chance-that-wasn’t-really-a-chance-to-begin-with love story 🥹🔥

🩰 Plot Vibes: Small Town Shenanigans Meets Dirty-Talking Dad
So here's the tea: Genevieve hooks up with a hot guy at the bar one night. Sparks? Fireworks? 11/10 chemistry? ✅✅✅
She thinks that’s it… until the next day when said hot guy shows up at her dance studio with his adorable daughter, who—surprise!—is her student. Awkward? Yes. Exciting? Double yes.

They try to keep it casual. You know, just a lil’ “rehearsal fling.” (Get it? Because she’s a dance teacher? Cute, right?) But the heart wants what it wants, and Dylan… well, Dylan’s not just hot, he’s loyal, mature, and 100% book boyfriend material. 🥵

❤️ Dylan = Single Dad PERFECTION
Can we talk about this man? Because holy moly, Sophie cooked with this one. 👨‍👧‍👦
He’s a dirty-talker, yes, BUT he’s also the kind of guy who puts his daughter first, communicates like a grown adult (gasp! I know), and respects Genevieve’s choices even when they don’t serve his feelings.

He’s not out here being toxic or possessive. He’s just solid. Strong, respectful, and sexy. Literally what more could you want?

Also shout out to his amazing group of single dad friends—can we make a support group for hot fictional dads? Because I’m joining. Immediately. 😂

💪 Genevieve = Relatable, Flawed, and SO Rootable
I adored Gen. She’s not some shiny perfect heroine—she’s a little lost, a little stubborn, and trying to figure out what the heck she wants from her life. She’s moved back home, juggling multiple jobs, and clinging to this dream of being a dancer, even though the clock’s ticking.

And honestly? I LOVED that for her. It's real. Her fears, her indecision, her fight to prove she’s still got it? Totally believable. And she doesn’t drop everything for love—she actually struggles with the decision, which made her feel even more human. 👏

Also, can we talk about the tension in the dance studio? 👀 That “we-can’t-hook-up-in-front-of-your-kid’s-ballet-class-but-oh-God-I-want-to” slow burn was EVERYTHING. 😍

🥵 Spice Level? HIGH. Like, Very High.
Umm. That first scene? I was fanning myself like an 1800s widow in church. 😳
There is no fade-to-black here, people. We’re getting full-steam scenes from the jump, and they are written so well. Emotionally charged, consent-driven, and just so hot.

I was not prepared for how spicy this sweet little book was, but honestly? I wasn’t mad about it. AT ALL.

🧡 Bonus Points
Dual POV? YES PLEASE. Always love knowing what’s going on in the guy’s head.

Dylan’s relationship with his ex was surprisingly mature and healthy, which is RARE in this trope.

The ending? Wrapped up nicely without feeling rushed. Made me swoon.

That teaser for the next book? 👀 GIVE IT TO ME NOW.

🌟 Why Not 5 Stars?
It’s sooo close, honestly. I adored it. But the reason it’s a solid 4 instead of a full 5 is because I wanted just a bit more angst or conflict. Things wrapped up a little too smoothly for me in the second half—I craved a little more emotional turbulence, a real threat to their happy ending. That said, the pacing and length were perfect for a quick, feel-good binge. 😌

✨ Final Thoughts
If you’re in the mood for:

✅ A hot, respectful single dad
✅ A relatable heroine trying to find her way
✅ Tension in ballet studios and steamy bedroom scenes
✅ Sweet found family vibes
✅ All the feels wrapped in a short, spicy package

Then The Rehearsal Fling is calling your name. This is my favorite book by Sophie Andrews so far, and if the rest of the single dad gang gets their own stories?? SIGN. ME. UP. 🙌🔥

Go read it. Just don’t blame me when you fall in love with Dylan too 😏

I absolutely Loved reading this story and could not put it down.
Sophie Andrews is a new author to me and this is my first book that I have had the pleasure of reading by her.....And WOW Sophie really amazed me with her writing,I loved her style and the way she described situations and scenes.
The characters she created are so realistic and endearing,I fell in love with them immediately and the story line had me riveted.
Dylan is divorced and shares custody of his two adorable children Scarlett and Tucker with his ex-wife Paige. An ex Baseball player who now is a mechanic and owns his own buisness...he is partial to the occassional hook up and one night stands..No more serious relationships for him.
His small group of friends are also single dads and they meet up every week for a chat and the occassional drink at a bar.
Genevieve is a dancer who is recovering from an injury an injury that could be fatal to her dancing career...While she recovers she is teaching dance classes and working in her brother Nates bar.
It was working in her brothers bar that she meets Dylan and her first one night stand happens.
Genevieve thinks she will never see Dylan again that is until he strolls into her dance studio a few days later with his daughter Scarlett.!!!
I loved their banter and flirting and the witty dialogue they always share...and the innuendos they are so playful and fun together.
What was supposed to be a one night stand soon turns into more than one night..as they both fail to be able to stop thinking of one another.
But Gen is leaving so they both agree to no strings sex until Gen decides to leave town to resurrect her Dance career.
But as with all romances nothing goes to plan and feelings become involved, making it hard to stick to the rules.
Dylan is Mr.Swoon he is so demanding one minute but he is also caring and sweet at times too,I love his relationship with his children,Scarlett and Tucker are cuteness overload.
Genevieve is so conflicted about what direction her life is going in because of her injury..being with Dylan is changing her ,she experiences a freedom she never has before, when she is with him. They are so hot together and insatiable for eachother.
Honestly this book is phenomenal,it so so well written and I was totally enthralled by Dylan and Gen's romance.I really enjoyed reading it...and look forward to hopefully more of this single Dad series.

I absolutely Loved reading this story and could not put it down. Sophie Andrews is a new author to me and this is my first book that I have had the pleasure of reading by her.....And WOW Sophie really amazed me with her writing, I loved her style and the way she described situations and scenes. The characters she created are so realistic and endearing, I fell in love with them immediately and the story line had me riveted. Dylan is divorced and shares custody of his two adorable children Scarlett and Tucker with his ex-wife Paige. An ex Baseball player who now is a mechanic and owns his own business, he is partial to the occasional hook up and one night stands... No more serious relationships for him. His small group of friends are also single dads and they meet up every week for a chat and the occasional drink at a bar. Genevieve is a dancer who is recovering from an injury, an injury that could be fatal to her dancing career. While she recovers she is teaching dance classes and working in her brother Nates bar. It was working in her brothers bar that she meets Dylan and her first one night stand happens. Genevieve thinks she will never see Dylan again, that is until he strolls into her dance studio a few days later with his daughter Scarlett.!!! I loved their banter and flirting and the witty dialogue they always share...and the innuendos, they are so playful and fun together. What was supposed to be a one night stand soon turns into more than one night...as they both fail to be able to stop thinking of one another.
But Gen is leaving so they both agree to no strings sex until Gen decides to leave town to resurrect her Dance career. But as with all romances nothing goes to plan and feelings become involved, making it hard to stick to the rules. Dylan is Mr. Swoon, he is so demanding one minute but he is also caring and sweet at times too, I love his relationship with his children, Scarlett and Tucker are cuteness overload. Genevieve is so conflicted about what direction her life is going in because of her injury... being with Dylan is changing her, she experiences a freedom she never has before when she is with him. They are so hot together and insatiable for each other. Honestly this book is phenomenal, it so so well written and I was totally enthralled by Dylan and Gen's romance. I really enjoyed reading it...and look forward to hopefully more of this single Dad series. Excellent book. 5 Stars.- Cat W.

The Rehearsal Fling is a quick easy read with secondary characters who will make good leads in their own books in this series.

Gen and Dylan meet in Gen's brother's bar, feel a strong & immediate attraction to each other, and mutually agree to a one-night stand. Dylan is a divorced dad of 2 and Gen is planning to go back to dancing professionally in a few weeks, so that's all they think they can spare. But of course they find that one night isn't enough!

I had a hard time with this book at first. When Gen told this guy she'd JUST met that she'd broken off with the previous guy she was dating because he was too nice, too sweet, and she liked things rougher, I almost wrote her off as having no sense (or sense of self-preservation). Then when Dylan responded by simulating violence in their hookup, I almost DNFed, especially when he gripped her throat. There was no warning about that up front, and I purposely avoid books with that content because I used to work with survivors of domestic violence and I know that choking behavior is one measure of how lethal a relationship is likely to be. I will never find that sexy.

I convinced myself to read a little more, thinking that I'd DNF if there was any more disturbing stuff. There wasn't, though, and I began to like both characters more as the story went on. Dylan was a patient and loving dad. His dynamics with his ex-wife were sometimes uncomfortable in their realism, and basically showed them both to be decent people with normal human flaws. Gen seemed young but sweet. It made sense at her stage in life for her to be conflicted about what she wanted. Together, Dylan and Gen deepened their relationship from something that started out as kind of sexual obsession to something that seemed genuinely caring and based in respect. I really liked that they continued the 20 questions game that Gen had initiated their very first night together. It was fun to see them surprise and appreciate each other.

You might love this book if you enjoy:
* Insta-lust-->love
* Main characters at a turning point in their lives
* Single dad stories
* Funny & supportive male friend groups

Early on I would have given the story a 2, but it finished much stronger (a solid 3.5 for me). I am interested in reading more in the series.

Thank you to the publisher and author, from whom I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Single dad Dylan has two children, a 6-year-old daughter named Scarlett and a 3-year-old son named Tucker. He lost his wife to illness and is not looking for a new relationship. Genevieve is a professional classical dancer whose career in New York was cut short due to an injury. She can still dance, but her injury prevents her from going back on the stage, so she returns to Miss Amy's School of Dance to teach. Scarlett becomes one of her students, so she and Dylan meet. Dylan may have thought he would never want another relationship, but he may change his mind.

Dylan first saw Genevieve when she was working at her brother's bar and he was out with his other single dad friends. He stared. She thought he looked like a wild predatory cat….a panther. She was intrigued, although like Dylan, she too would claim to not be interested in any relationship beyond their respective roles as a student's dad and teacher. But Genevieve had plans for a "special person" dance this year. Each student would select someone for their "special someone" to dance with them, including a performance at the end of the year. It turned out that Dylan was a quick dance study and had the best coordination of all the adults in the class. And he and Scarlett always seemed to be the last ones to leave class so he could chat up Genevieve.

Genevieve finally agreed to a friends-with-benefits relationship with Dylan because she has plans to get a dance-related job when Miss Amy's classes are finished for the season. She has been offered a position as a dancer on a cruise line out of Orlando, and she signed a contract. She and Dylan have gotten really close. Will she really leave him?

I loved this story and the characters. Dylan is such a sexy panther, and Genevieve is a strong, determined woman. They are both determined to remain detached, but when the stars align, they have to give in. Their story is warm, touching, a bit angsty and very steamy.

3🌶

I couldn't bear to see Genevieve and Dylan's story come to an end! The pacing of their journey was spot on for the book's length, and the characters were incredibly well-developed. Dylan and his crew of single-dad friends were absolutely adorable, and witnessing their dynamic throughout the book was a delight.
Genevieve and Dylan, both as individuals and as an unconventional "non-couple," felt relatable and real. Their evolution from a one-night stand to friends with benefits, all the while steadfastly ignoring their growing emotions, unfolded as naturally as breathing. Their easygoing charm and their ongoing game of 20 questions never failed to bring a smile to my face.
And let's not forget those steamy scenes... sizzling hot! The way Genevieve and Dylan navigated their "fling," Dylan's role as a dad, and the inevitable conclusion of their passionate affair felt completely authentic and unforced. I truly appreciated the way the main characters were portrayed and the candidness of their conversations about it. Above all, witnessing the sacrifices Dylan made for Genevieve and his unwavering self-assuredness in letting her go, if that's what she desired, was truly admirable.
The representation of a divorced man actively working to better himself and be an outstanding dad was undeniably one of the sexiest aspects of this book.
I was absolutely thrilled to dive into the sneak peek at the end and get a tantalizing glimpse of whose story would be featured in the next book. Can't wait for what's to come! 😊📚

You know this moment when you've got a few books of a certain author, but haven't read them yet?
And then you read one of the books ot this certain author and you just don't know WHY YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOKS EARLIER?!

YES! THAT'S ME RIGHT NOW!
I've got a few books of Sophie Andrews on my kindle... and when I got the chance of an ARC of The Rehearsal Fling I just took the chance!

The Rehearsal Fling by Sophie Andrews is the first of The Single Dad's Club Series and I REALLY ENJOYED IT!

C'mon! Hot single dads? All handsome and with their own problems to be solved? OMG! YES!

So, this one is about Dylan and Genevieve.
Dylan is divorced and has two cuuuute kids.
When his daughter Scarlett needs him for a special performance at her dance school, he never expected to see HER again. The irresistible one-night-stand, the woman he can't forget.
Gen isn't that happy to see HIM again... yes, they had fun, but she's the dance teacher of his daughter! This couldn't work, or... could it?!

I fell in love with Dylan right from the start!
He's this handsome and caring single dad. Yes, he made mistakes in the past but he sticks to it. No regrets. You can only learn from your mistakes...
I loved him with his daughter Scarlett and his son Tucker. Made me swoon sooooo much!
The whole story with him and Genevieve was a really enjoyable one!
I loved the chemistry between them and all the stuff they had to deal with.

I really can't wait to read the stories of the other guys! ❤️

Thank you so much to Sophie Andrews for this ARC.
This is my honest review in my own words.

If I could give The Rehearsal Fling more than 5 stars, I would. Dylan and Genevieve worked so well together! Neither were looking for a relationship, and when they hooked up, they agreed it would be a one-time thing.

But of course, this wouldn't be a romance if the fickle finger of fate didn't have other plans! Turns out, Gen is Dylan's daughter's dance teacher, so there's a ton of opportunities for them to go "one more time." 😍

I usually throw a few book quotes into my reviews, but I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. There were so many! The banter in and out of the bedroom was exquisite. The further Dylan fell for Gen, the better it was. He was so afraid to need someone, but it seemed to come naturally with the two of them!

Sophie threw quite a few serious pieces into this book with both main characters. Rough family lives, learning disabilities, therapy, all pieces that gave this spicy romance depth, and kept me glued to the page from start to finish.

I could go on and on about the spice, but I'll let you discover that on your own. The way they didn't let being in public stop them was ::chef's kiss::.

The ending, though, was possibly my favorite. It avoided the common trope of one party giving up their dream to make the relationship work, and instead, they got inventive and were patient with their love.

I could make this review pages longer, but instead, I'll just tell you to grab this book immediately and clear your schedule!

Thank you, Sophie Andrews, for the opportunity to read this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
