Arizona Tape continues to tickle my imagination with her modern take and sapphic twist on Greek myths.
It is time for a new Hermes and Hermione is chosen for the two year term. Oh it's a big honor but dreaded since no one can know who Hermes is. As a reporter for the Daily Lyre, Hermione is immediately hampered. As Hermes she has to investigate and report on people as assigned by the board. Basically act like a spy. I really liked how the author had Hermione reveal her job to Cassandra because she can't stand keeping secrets from her. How their relationship progresses steadily and above board (after an initial hiccup) until the Hermes stint is over. Who knew what a shared bottle of great wine would lead to! Ultimately, trust in each other relieves the pressure of Hermione's job as Hermes. Life at the Daily Lyre - a typical workplace with an empty coffee pot (who drank the last cup?) at least coffee mugs are provided 😀 deadlines to meet and reports to be filed.

I might have already said it before, but it's not always easy to be original in reviews, especially if you're reviewing a series consisting of so many books, but this might be one of my favorite contemporary Greek mythology concepts EVER. And I was really looking forward to get to know Hermes. Luckily I could grab an arc via BookSprout.
When you're writing so many stand-alone love stories in the same world it becomes hard to be original and yet the author constantly finds a new kind of romance to write about. In this case we're getting a cute and flirty office romance mixed with a romance where one the characters is having a big secret they're not allowed to share.
What I liked about this book is how the secret keeping is handled. We understand why there is a secret and why she's not allowed to share it with everyone, but we also understand how hard it is for the woman she's keeping things from. And yet the author still manages to give us a relationship build on trust and loyalty.
I also think these characters were a lovely match. Their flirting was playful and innocent and yet very clear too. If I'd come across a guy who's willing to flirt like this, I might notice him and I might even be capable of flirting back. I also liked how this society deals with relationships on the work floor. I wish this was done everywhere, no matter how complicated it seems.

Hermione is researching and reporting on more than just office ogling. She’s digging up dirt on all the:
blasphemous blogs, burning busses, cheeky chats, cleavage consequences, confirming clock-ins and –outs, exciting eye-candy, free-for-all Friday-night fun, gossip at the gyro truck, guilt-ridden gushing, interesting interviews, joy on the job, killer kisses, lovey lunches, magical massages, punny parties, raunchy relationships, saucy state of affairs, scented-candle sleepovers, sexy stories, snooping & scooping, sweet secrets, titillating torture, wine leading to wishful winking…
Okay, seriously now. This book does have a wee bit of seriousness:
How wonderful it is to know a sibling is happily married and to have a wonderful relationship with cousins and in-laws. Not everybody has that, so don’t take it for granted!
Love it when employers supply mugs with the coffee service. Little perks add up!
Some sage advice for the workplace:
Avoid getting into arguments with the furniture.
Start a new pot of coffee when you take the last of it.
Offer an extra set of eyes when someone is having difficulties with writing something.
Throw away commonly-used items that are unwashable when you drop them on the floor.
Fave line (regarding badly-trained robotic automatic voice-messaging system:
‘Was it ironic that the Temple of Hermes, the messenger god, was bad at connecting people?’
Stay tuned for ‘Flowers for Pandora’ (expected 30 Aug).

This is book six of the Queens of Olympus and the main characters are journalists Cassandra Cass) and Hermione, who both work for the Daily Lyre in Olympus. The story is set with characters from legends of old, but takes place in the modern world. Cassandra has had a crush on her colleague Hermione for a while and after a bit of a catastrophe in the break room, actually ends up asking her out. Shortly after, Hermione gets an email stating she has been selected as the next Hermes, the Goddess of Messengers. Only she has to keep this a secret for the whole term of the role, which is the next two years! She is to write reports about other people, as directed by the temple, and will have no real choice in the matter. It looks like romance won’t be on the cards for her, but she caves and explains to Cass that she really likes her, but has a secret she can’t tell her and which might make it impossible for Cass to want to pursue a relationship.
It’s an off and on again attempt at a relationship, but Hermione can’t keep the secret from Cass for two years. Now the pressure is on Cass and whether she can handle not knowing what secret is being kept from her, or what revealing the secret might do to their chances of a relationship. They have been flirting for ages and they can’t seem to keep away from each other for long at all. A secret that was never to be told, is revealed, but however much one can say it wouldn’t have an effect, that isn’t quite so easy in reality! Their romantic relationship has only just gotten off the starting blocks and has come across a few hurdles already. They will have to accept the position their other half has been placed in and allow the secret to be kept just between them and tell no one else, unless they want the wrath of the temple of Hermes upon them! A great short story set in the time of gods and goddesses, but with a modern twist and a tame romantic touch. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This was so cute! I liked how, compared to some of the other couples in the series, Hermione and Cass already had feelings for each other before the book started, they just needed to act on them. I also liked how Cassandra was fine with Hermione having a secret despite not knowing what it was. The one thing I didn't like was (mild spoiler) the fight caused by them not giving the other a chance to explain things about two-thirds into the book. I understand that the author wanted to create tension, but it just frustrated me. Overall, I enjoyed this, and I can't wait for the next one! I already have a theory on who the next Artemis will be...

4 stars. Very cute and quick read but the pacing was a bit too rushed. Hermione and Cassandra go from 0 to all in super quickly. They had great chemistry but I wish that the relationship had taken its time and we could really see them fall for each other. However, this was still good. I liked the discussion of power imbalance as this is a work place romance and Hermione is Cassandra’s boss and she’s also the new Hermes. All of that was interesting and I liked how the two of them handled that. The ending was sweet and while this wasn’t a favorite of mine in the series it was still entertaining.

It's an honor to be picked to be a god or goddess. Well unless you are picked to be the Hermes. Hermione is excited to get to know Cassandra better, then the dreaded email comes......
This was a great story of finding romance in the workplace, how hard secrets can pull on you, and how to overcome.
The flirting was adorable, the supporting characters helped enrich the story, and the conflict and resolution were real.
Another great book in the Queens of Olympus series.

Secrets and the Start of a New Relationship
Cassandra and Hermione have been subtly flirting for a while, but just as they decide to see where it all might go, Hermione is called up as the next undercover Hermes. This secret has the potential to boost her career, but also destroy anything that’s developing between her and Cassandra. I really felt for Hermione - that was one sticky rock-and-a-hard-place scenario - but I’m glad that love won out in the end. A sweet and joyful romantic read.

Hermione has been accepted as the next Hermes. This means that she must report on people and not let anyone know what she is doing. The biggest problem is she is falling for Cassandra and she is not allowed to say anything to her. She has two years as Hermes and she is wondering if she can do it and not lose the love of her life. This was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed reading it.

This was a cute little story that takes a twist off of the tale of Hermes and his messenger life. I love the play on the names that play off the original mythology and the story evolves from there making an enjoyable little story.

Another amazing read by Arizona Tape this was another moving read. I received this book via Booksprout as an ARC for my honest opinion and I honestly loved it. I would definitely recommend that you read book.
