Maggie Wheeler Moretti has had her share of tragedies, but nothing prepares her when her son Michael, a police officer, is shot while on duty. Maggie travels to Boston to be with him and the rest of her family, and for the first time considers selling the Key Lime Garden Inn and moving back to Massachusetts.
Chelsea Marsden runs the inn in Maggie’s absence and does her best to avoid seeing her ex and meeting his new wife. Isabella Barlowe is not one to be ignored, however, and Chelsea finds that her past relationship with Sebastian leads to a new outlook and a kindred spirit.
Jacqui Hutchins takes a break from her graduate studies to return to Captiva for the summer. With a history of bad relationships and equally bad choices, she’ll need Chelsea’s wisdom and patience to get her through yet another round of manufactured drama.
Finn Powell is ready to spread his wings and fly…literally. He wants out of the family business to become a commercial airline pilot. All he has to do is convince his father and brothers. Without his sister Becca to soften the blow, Finn has an uphill battle that he’ll do anything to win.
Even in the darkest hours, a light can shine through as is the case for two couples who are ready to take the next step. Becca Powell and Christopher Wheeler, along with Beth Wheeler and Gabriel Walker are engaged, and the idea of a double Christmas wedding on Captiva Island becomes the next major event to navigate.
With so many opinions and family interferences, what could possibly go wrong?
Come back to Captiva Island and fall in love once again with a cast of characters who overcome everything life throws their way by holding onto each other.
Annie Cabot is the author of contemporary women's fiction and family sagas. Annie writes about friendships and family relationships, that bring inspiration and hope to others.
With a focus on women's fiction, Annie feels that she writes best when she writes from experience. “Every woman's journey is a relatable story. I want to capture those stories, let others know they are not alone, and bring a bit of joy to my readers.”
Annie Cabot is the pen name for the writer Patricia Pauletti. A lover of all things happily ever after, it was only a matter of time before she began to write what was in her heart, and so, the pen name Annie Cabot was born.
When she's not writing, Annie and her husband like to travel. Winters always involve time away on Captiva Island, Florida where she continues to get inspiration for her novels.
I have come to believe that Maggie isn't quite the kind and wonderful woman everyone thinks she is. After reading this book and Captive Christmas I believe she is somewhat selfish and manipulative. She calls a "Code Red" in an effort to get all her children to come to Florida for Christmas despite them hanging other plans. And now she decides she wants Beth's wedding to be in Florida despite Beth wanting a snowy winter wedding in Massachusetts. She gets what she wants but at what cost. To be continued.
Love that the family pulls together whenever there’s a tragedy or illness they all gather together to show there union and the love they have for each other
I managed to complete book 6 in this series and that’s as far as I will delve into this family. The storyline has become quite boring. Pulling random characters out of the peripheral edges of the community becomes quite tedious for the reader. I cannot endure reading about Maggie and her woes any longer!!! Farewell Captiva Island.
I am enjoying this series and it is an easy read. I am not sure if I can continue all 15-or 16 books. I love this family but it seems that it is bringing in too many characters.
