Loving the Series!

What a great series so far.
You have a little mystery, You have friendships and you have God all rolled into one. You won’t regret reading this series. It makes you feel like you are apart of the SugarCreek community. I can’t get enough of the characters! Such an amazing book.

I just finished Where Hope Dwells by Elizabeth Ludwig, and it’s a really great, easy amish mystery. The story is set in a quiet little Amish town called Sugarcreek, Ohio. The main character is a regular "englisher" woman named Cheryl Cooper who just moved there from the big city to run a gift shop.

She’s trying to make friends with her new Amish neighbors, so she starts going around giving out little gifts to everyone who just had a baby.

But things go completely wrong when she visits a family named the Swartzentrubers. Someone actually steals one of their newborn twins right out of his crib. It's so sad and shocking for such a peaceful town. The whole book is about trying to find the missing baby, which I liked because it's not a scary or bloody murder story.

Cheryl finds a clue by accident and starts doing her own detective work to save the baby before it's too late. She also has a cute pet cat named Beau that tags along, and there's a tiny bit of a sweet romance starting up for her to.

I really enjoyed this book, which is #2 in the series, because it has some cool twists that keep you guessing, but it’s still a feel good story about a community sticking together. It's a fast read and perfect if you just want something relaxing and wholesome.

I definitely recommend picking it up if you want a good mystery that won't give you nightmares.

If you think you don't need to read this book because you have seen the TV movie, think again. While a short novel, this book includes more details and red herrings than the movie that make for a more satisfying mystery experience. While the book might classify as a cozy mystery, there is nothing cozy about a kidnapped infant. Once again Cheryl and Naomi are determined to solve the mystery and, if at all possible, set things to right again. The story approaches the theme of forgiveness from a variety of angles, fleshing out the theme more than one might expect in a fairly short novel. I recommend this novel which is a bit meatier than the first book in this series. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Where Hope Dwells from Guideposts via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Warm mystery with plenty of spirituality

I'm a bit of a sucker for these types of novels, and this one really hit the spot. As a grieving mother myself it was pleasant to read a mystery involving a baby that has a happy ending. The mystery here was good and twisty, and Cheryl is really creating a presence in her town as well as in mystery genre as well. I was surprised at how nicely spirituality was handled, which gave this an unexpected punch that worked. A nice cozy read that still keeps an edge.
