Joshua Bennett is a dead man. He lost everything when his SEAL team was ambushed. As he watches his family bury an empty coffin, he vows to make whoever is responsible pay. He wants revenge. For his lost leg. For his lost brothers-in-arms. And for the life he will never have.
Samantha York is the daughter of a religious cult leader. She knew he was cruel, but she never realized he was the kind of man that would auction off his own daughter to pay a debt. She cannot remember what happened to her that night. But it broke something in her just the same. Something that keeps her hopelessly trapped inside herself.
When Josh meets Sam, the darkness that surrounds him fades. He suddenly wants a life again. With his former team. With his family. But mostly with her. She is his broken Angel, and he will do anything to protect her and give her the life she deserves.
Sam is attracted to Josh from the moment they meet. And she can even see the life they can have together. But how does she come to terms with a past that lives in her nightmares? And when that nightmare comes back to claim her, can she ever be what Josh truly deserves?
Sometimes when the universe answers your prayers, it shakes your entire world.
Codename Blade, book 3 in The Omega Series, is intended for mature audiences over eighteen due to language, sexual situations, and depictions of trauma.
Codename Blade is book 3 in The Omega series by JR Tootill. JR continuously delivers with strong and resilient female characters. Each main character is complex and compelling, and you can’t help but fall in love with them. In fact, this series is starting to feel like family. Code name Blade follows Josh and Sam. Josh is an amputee, and Sam is fighting her own demons. Together they manage to heal from old wounds, physical and mental. With a great mixture of romance, spice and crime thriller, this book kept me enthralled.
I listened to the audiobook, which is performed in duet by Heather Firth and Scott Rider. There is also a cameo performance by Joe Arden. The character differentiation was superb. Heather and Scott did an amazing job at replicating the voice actors performances from the previous books. That was definitely a highlight for me. Their performances were emotionally gripping and definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the story. Joe never fails to impress.
Josh and Sam meet at her coffee shop. Sam runs a shop Josh up the street from Omega that he used to meet up with Ghost for a mission. Josh was a Seal with some of the omega guys. Sam has her own trama and history that comes up during their story. I really enjoyed their storyline and the Narrator's Heather, Scott and Joe did an amazing job bringing Blade and his team to life. I can not wait to listen to Codename Cobra next!
Codename Blade The Omega, Book 3 By: J. R. Tootill Narrated by: Heather Firth, Scott Rider, and a cameo appearance by Joe Arden
It is great to be back in J.R. Tootill fantastic “Omega” world again and spend time with some of my favorite characters, the incredible Omega security team members, former military and alphabet law enforcement, FBI and/or CIA. This third book of the series is Joshua “Josh” Bennett’s and Samantha “Sammi” York’s story and, like the first two books, the story not only captivates your attention the entire time, but tugs at your heartstrings too. We saw a glimpse into Josh’s backstory in the earlier books, when he was serving with Tuc and their last mission gone awry, ending their military career. Josh was struggling with his loss and pushed everyone away, including Tuc and his team members, who, in time, were told he was dead. It was all a charade, done for a reason, one that Josh could finally share with them, with hopes they would understand, welcome him back and forgive him once they hear why and what he had done. Once the shock wore off, both Skeet and Tuc were happy to see him and they wind up inviting him to join them in Omega. Josh never bounced back to his former self, never thought he would know true happiness again, but then he saw her, his angel. Sammi owned the local coffee shop, bought it from the former owners after working for the for several years. Sammi’s backstory is not an easy one, growing up in a commune, run by evil men, including her father, who did a number on her. It was her brothers who saved and freed her from that life, regretfully not getting to her sooner. Her trauma and ordeal left her broken, physically and mentally, though she does not remember much of what happened to her, except the aftermath. Not knowing what to make of Josh’s attraction to her, she sees herself broken, and he sees her otherwise. I thought those two were great together and for each other, uplifting and healing their broken souls. It was great to watch the Omega team welcome Sammi into their family and the girls take her under their wings for female empowerment. All was going well until their pasts come back to haunt them. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out with the perfect balance of drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and a wonderful romance. Like the first two books, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. J.R. Tootill, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧Heather Firth, Scott Rider, and a cameo by Joe Arden were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying. I loved how they took their roles and owned them, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Heather Firth was a natural in her role as Sammi, grasping every aspect of her personality from her vulnerabilities to her strength, and grew along with her as her confidence increased. Scott Rider was just as fantastic as Josh, showcasing all sides of his personality and demeanor perfectly. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the side/secondary characters too. Joe Arden jumps in as Rourke, and nails it in his role. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling each one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates the already amazing story to another level.
Codename Blade, the third book in JR Tootill’s Omega Security series, picks up with a familiar character from the previous book—whom I’ll refer to as Codename Blade to avoid spoilers.
The female lead, Sam, is new to the series. From the start, we learn about her tragic backstory, making it easy to root for both her and Blade. JR does a fantastic job of getting readers invested in these two early on, showcasing their vulnerabilities and the way they help each other heal.
Blade is brought to life by Scott Rider, a new-to-me narrator, and I was super impressed by his ability to voice the many characters in the Omega Security universe. Meanwhile, Heather Firth shines as Sam—her soft voice, combined with Sam’s strength and determination, really elevates the story. Both narrators maintain a similar pacing, which I love, as it makes the flow of the narration and the story easy to follow.
Joe Arden makes a cameo appearance in this book, as well as the rest of the Omega Security series. While his narration skills are at the top of his field, he never overshadows the other actors in a scene with him—showcasing his ability to enhance the story, whether as a main character or a supporting role.
JR continues to build this series masterfully, book by book. While the story is told in third person—something that can initially feel unfamiliar in the romance genre—it actually enhances the intensity of certain scenes, especially during special ops missions. The broader perspective allows for a more vivid picture of the action.
One of the biggest standouts for me was Sam’s transformation throughout the book. She had significant trauma to work through, and while her relationship with Blade played a major role in her healing, so did the bonds she formed with the other women in the story—something many readers can relate to.
This series keeps getting better, and I can't wait for the next audiobook release, Codename Havoc. This one is an easy five-star read for me. While the chili peppers are sizzling, I found this relationship to be the sweetest one JR has written so far.
Like with the first book in this series, I absolutely loved how the story and the action just kept flowing. Codename Blade is the third book in the Omega Series, and while it could be read as a standalone, I strongly recommend reading the books in order to really understand the depth and connection of the whole team.
I’ve enjoyed every single character throughout this series so far, and this one gave us Josh’s turn in the spotlight. We saw hints of his backstory earlier, especially about that mission with Tuc that went so wrong and ended their military careers. Here, the truth finally unfolds—Josh’s supposed “death” was nothing more than a painful charade, and now he’s trying to earn forgiveness and trust back.
This book was the perfect mix of military suspense, heart-aching backstories, and tender romance. The dual POV narrated in duet style made the audiobook shine, and the performances by Heather Firth, Scott Rider, and Joe Arden were such a delight. Honestly, I love listening while reading along—it just makes the story even more immersive.
I do want to point out that there are subjects in here that could be triggering, though they’re described lightly. Still, it’s worth mentioning.
Having you to come home to and in my arms every night, waking with you like this every morning, is so much more than I ever dreamed I would have.
Between Josh’s fight for redemption and Sam’s struggle with her own past, their connection felt raw, heartbreaking, but also healing. Sam being raised in a cult and betrayed in such a cruel way added another layer of darkness to the story, but Josh’s devotion and protectiveness toward her were beautiful. She truly was his broken angel, and he was determined to give her the life she deserved.
By the end, I was hooked, once again, on this incredible series. The Omega team is one of those groups you can’t help but root for, book after book.
“There was just something that settled in him when he talked to her. She was like a soft light shining through his darkness.”
Oof, J.R. Tootill knows how to dish up the perfect blend of military suspense, heartbreaking backstories, and heart-melting romance. Codename Blade is book three in the Omega series and I am smitten. Josh “Blade” Bennett has spent a decade in darkness. Isolated from his team, his family, and any semblance of happiness. Until the day he finds a lifeline and resurfaces to find his angel. Sam York’s childhood was horrific; after a childhood spent in the hands of monsters, she and her brothers were building new lives and a loving community. But when a lingering danger threatens their peace, they enlist Omega for help. Josh and Sam are a beautiful pair, so perfectly suited to heal one another and bring beauty to the world. I’ve been excited for Blade’s story since book one, and J.R. delivered a fabulous HEA. I loved Sam’s strength, compassionate heart, and sweet resilience. A ray of sunshine through and through. The Omega family continues to captivate and keep me on my toes. Check your TWs. If you love a passionate, angsty, heart wrenching romantic suspense with lovable characters, dive into the Omega series.
Scott Rider and Heather Firth are mesmerizing as Blade and Sam. Scott’s work performance of the down bad, tormented, big hearted Josh was wonderful. His gravelly, low timbre and pacing were perfect for the growly and overprotective former Marine. Heather portrayed the effervescent, beguiling, beautiful cafe owner beautifully. Joe Arden reprised his role as Roarke. His cameo chapters were great and added to my desperate need for Roarke’s book. Heather and Scott’s styles flowed well together and they captured each character contrast to a tee.
Joshua lost everything when his SEAL team got ambushed. He watches his family bury an empty coffin and vows to seek revenge on those that were responsible for it. Samantha is a daughter of a religious cult leader. Her father auctions her off to pay off a debt and it becomes a night she cannot remember, but it left a scar in her soul. When Josh and Sam meet both their dark pasts seem to fade. Only time will tell if it's everything they had hoped for.
I've enjoyed every book in this series. It was great going to back to this world. Right from the start the prologue sets up the main plot and dives right in. Told in dual POVs it was great reading from both Josh and Sam's perspectives. With survivor's guilt and revenge weighing Josh down it took time for him to heal and grieve. He was so brave and took the steps to take his life back. Enter Sam. She came into Josh's life when he needed someone the most and vice versa with her. Their first meeting was so cute! Josh was smitten and mesmerized by her. Sam was awkward and shy and left a lasting impression on Josh. As the story progressed I loved seeing them get close and confide in eachother.
Most recently I listened to the audiobook and it's fantastic! Performed in duet by Scott Rider and Heather Firth featuring Joe Arden. These three were truly amazing. Scott is a new to me narrator. He surprised me so much with his performance. I loved the timber of his voice. His range of voices was wonderful. He captured the tones of the previous characters so well. Same with Heather. She nailed it. I loved her narration. She conveyed Sam with a soft, delicate tone. The more emotional scenes Scott and Heather use more expressive tones allowing the rush of feelings to pour out. Joe reprised his role as Rourke. He did an amazing job of bringing out his character's personality. Overall, I loved listening to every minute of it.
Audiobook Release Date: February 7, 2025
Thank you to @bluenoseaudio and the author for my ALC and for the opportunity to review and listen.
Codename Blade is the third book in the Omega Series, and it’s hands down my favorite so far. This one focuses on Josh, who honestly has a heart of gold, and I was hooked from start to finish. J.R. Toothill just knows how to write these ex-military men and the strong women who make them whole, and she absolutely nails it again with this story.
The pacing was spot on - there wasn’t a single moment where my attention drifted. J.R. does such a great job balancing the action with just the right amount of detail about the ops and fighting techniques. It’s enough to keep you interested without feeling bogged down. And Josh and Sam’s story? Whew. Their pasts are filled with so much sadness, but watching them help piece each other back together was beautiful. I also love how J.R. keeps writing strong female characters who don’t always need saving - it’s such a refreshing dynamic.
Now, let’s talk about the narration because it was *chef’s kiss*. Scott Rider was incredible as Josh. His voice carried both strength and emotion perfectly, and he’s quickly becoming a favorite male narrator for me. Heather Firth absolutely crushed it as Sam! She brought out Sam’s vulnerability and strength in equal measure, and honestly, she just shines in everything she does. And seeing (or should I say hearing) Joe Arden as Roark again? Loved it! I’m seriously hoping he’s narrating Roark’s story next (manifesting that into the universe).
These books just keep getting better and better, and I can’t wait to continue the series. Oh, and side note - J.R., if you’re listening, I’d love a spin-off with Sam’s brothers. Just saying. 😉
#CodenameBlade is #3 of the #TheOmegaseries by #JRTootill and although standalone, it is best read in order, especially as the other books are excellent anyway.
What I love about this author is how she deals with difficult subjects in a sensitive way and she never stops on the action. Just as you start to feel calm, something else happens. It's a wonderful ride, especially for those that like military romance, with a bit of suspense!
With this series, I also love meeting the familiar characters again and watching how their families grow. Tuck is such a cute dad and Josh seems to be taking on the challenge with gusto!
Tuck in book #1 was my FBB but I have to confess he has competition with Josh, who has been through hell and back again and on a chance meeting with Sam in a coffee shop, he manages to regain his zest for life; whilst at the same time bringing a new dimension to Sam's life which up until now has been a horror story. So it's a really great story about two damaged people reaching out and loving each other "warts and all".
I did like all the side characters and it would be good to hear how the boys progress with their business - the Harley seems incredible and so good that Josh is able to ride again - and I'm really looking forward to hearing about Kent and Havoc!
The #duetnarration was excellent by #ScottRider (new to me and I'll definitely be looking out for his other books) #HeatherFirth and #JoeArden
Thank you #BlueNoseAudio for allowing me the pleasure of listening and reviewing this book. All opinions are my own.
Codename Blade, the third installment in JR Tootill’s Omega series, delivers an emotional and gripping story that blends action, suspense, and deep character development. This installment brings Josh—codename Blade—back from the dead, forcing him to navigate life with PTSD and a prosthetic leg while reuniting with his old colleagues at the Omega crime investigation center.
Scott Rider’s performance as Josh is nothing short of masterful. He doesn’t just embody the character’s emotional struggles but also impressively mimics the voices of previous narrators, creating a seamless experience for fans of the series. His ability to capture the distinct personalities of the other characters while maintaining Josh’s hardened yet vulnerable essence makes his narration stand out.
Heather Firth’s portrayal of Sam adds another layer of depth to the story. Having endured trauma from a religious cult and an abusive forced marriage, Sam’s journey is heartbreaking yet inspiring. Heather delivers an emotionally charged performance, capturing Sam’s resilience and pain in a way that makes her story incredibly compelling.
A special mention goes to Joe Arden’s cameo as Rourke (aka Havoc), which adds an extra layer of intensity and familiarity to the series.
This audiobook is a must-listen for fans of the Omega series. It’s a powerful, emotionally charged story that showcases phenomenal narration and character-driven storytelling. With more books to come, this series continues to be one worth following. Highly recommended!
J.R. Tootill's writing is intelligent, sharp, and thoroughly engaging. Book 3 of The Omega Series focuses in on Joshua "Blade" Bennett. This mysterious member appeared in book 2 and now he is stepping into the limelight to find his match. And the woman who caught his eye was none other than our favorite barista/baker Sam! Her kindness and gentleness seem to sooth something in Josh's soul. As the story progresses, we learn more and more about Sam and her upbringing. Fair warning, Sam did not have an easy childhood, so please check your trigger warnings.
I think the thing that makes this Omega series brilliant and different is the stories overlap timelines. So we end up seeing the same scene from multiple perspectives across multiple books. The clear attention to detail really makes this series one of the best romantic suspense/military series I've listened to in recent memory. J.R. also writes all of her characters, whether they are main or side characters with such depth, you feel like you know them personally.
The audiobook was top notch and the duet narration really added to the performances. Heather Firth and Scott Rider were both new to me narrators, and I loved both of them. The vulnerability that both narrators had to bring to Sam and Josh respectively left such an impression on me. The small cameo by Joe Arden was also notable, as he voiced the same character in books 2 and 3. It really helps to emphasize the importance of his character. Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for the chance to listen and review.
We are back in 𝙹.𝚁. 𝚃𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚕'𝚜 𝐎𝐦𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, and folks, let me tell ya. You do not want to miss it! Her characters, her intense plot lines, her spice....it all hits the right feels and captivates the reader!
As a former Navy brat, I love stories that feature Navy SEALS or members of the Navy. I am so glad we got Josh's story with this one. I absolutely loved everything about his tortured soul! The things he endured, the way he worked through them, meeting Sammi and seeing her tortured soul.....it was all just what I needed to be consumed by!
Josh stole my heart instantly. The way he pushes to overcome his past, to heal, to love, it's all emotional and intense! Sammi is the perfect woman for him! I loved the way she overcame her past as well. It was beautifully chiseled by 𝙹.𝚁. 𝚃𝚘𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚕𝚕! The sparks that fly between them????? SIZZLING!
𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝐹𝑖𝑟𝑡ℎ and 𝑆𝑐𝑜𝑡𝑡 𝑅𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑟 gave their whole selves to bring these characters to life. 𝑆𝑐𝑜𝑡𝑡 𝑅𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑟 is a new to me narrator, and the way he nailed these narrations....has just added himself to my long list of favs! Together, they did a magnificent job! 𝐽𝑜𝑒 𝐴𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑛 lends his voice as a cameo in the story and it added the last puzzle piece to round this audiobook out, making it unforgettable!
If you love romantic suspense, spice and captivating characters, you must devour this book (the entire series really!). You won't be able to put them down and you'll fall in love with them all! Can't wait for more!
Let me start by saying that Heather and Scott were absolutely phenomenal narrators. Their voices brought Sam and Josh to life in such a vivid, emotionally charged way. Their chemistry was electric—exactly what this story needed! I couldn’t imagine anyone else doing these characters justice.
The story picks up right where things left off, keeping the tension high and the stakes even higher. There’s plenty of action, but it never feels over-the-top or unnecessary. Every scene moves the story forward, and I found myself flipping pages late into the night, desperate to see what happens next.
The real heart of the book, though, is Sam and Josh. Sam is tough, smart, and refuses to play the victim, which makes her easy to root for. And Josh? Protective, determined, and just the right amount of swoon-worthy without being overbearing. Their slow-burn romance had me grinning one moment and screaming at them to just kiss already the next.
Tootill’s writing is fast-paced and addictive, striking the perfect balance between action, emotional depth, and humour. The story has all the secret-society intrigue I love, with enough twists to keep things fresh. If you like books that blend mystery, romance, and high-stakes drama, this one’s a no-brainer.
I highly recommend this book to series. It's one I eagerly follow, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Codename Blade is book #3 in The Omega series. This is Josh/Blade and Sam/Angel's story and it is so much better than I could have ever imagined. It started out strong and did NOT let me go until the very end. Josh pushes everyone away while he spirals from his injuries as a Navy Seal and reconciles life with a prosthetic. Sam was rescued from a communal living environment, but not before the unthinkable happens (check TW before starting). He's broken with baggage, she's broken with baggage, but when their eyes meet across the counter...it's 🔥! This story was very emotional and the amount of healing and growth these two must achieve was heartbreaking and uplifting all at the same time. And the smexy scenes...just the cherry on top of this 5 star sundae!
The narration was probably the best I've listened to in quite a while. First off, Scott Rider...I really hope to have more of him in my ears because his voice and delivery is off the charts powerful. Heather Firth is a favorite of mine because she is, to me, the ultimate underdog that finds her superpower. And throw in a Joe Arden cameo...5 trifecta stars!!
Codename Blade is the third book in The Omega series. Josh is somewhat the reason Omega was started. Tuck and the guys were coming together to respect their fallen brother in arms, “Josh” or “Frogman”. At the end of book two we found out that Josh was still alive. He had lost his leg not his life. He was having a difficult time dealing with the loss of his leg and felt responsible for his team getting injured during a mission. He has been working with Roark doing undercover vigilante work. He asked for help from one of the Omega team members. The entire team confronted him and brought him back into the fold like he had never left. Sam owns the coffee and bakery shop next to Omega headquarters. She gets tongue tied and nervous when she sees Josh. Sam is the daughter of a major Cult leader. She escaped and survived trauma from her past. Her father and his right hand are in prison but possibly up for parole. Josh is the only man to make her feel safe outside of her brothers.
Heather Firth and Scott Rider along with cameo appearance from Joe Arden did a phenomenal job narrating this book in duet/ multi cast style narration.
Book: Codename Blade Author: JR Toothill Narrators: Scott Rider, Heather Firth, Joe Arden Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️
JR is my hero. I’ve loved every book that I’ve read from her. All have been 5 stars in my mind and this one doesn’t change.
Josh has been resurrected and praise Lord JR for that! Such a great idea since he’s my favorite now. Josh and Sam are perfect for each other. Both have their pasts but need each other to feel complete.
This is my first Scott Rider book and I’m so glad it’s this one. I could tell the differences between each of the characters. I even thought he sounded a bit like Sebastian York when he had lines as Tuck. There was just something about his energy I really really enjoyed.
Heather Firth is very quickly becoming one of my favorite female narrators. She is amazing in every book I’ve heard with her. I really enjoyed her performance as Sam.
Joe Arden makes a cameo in this one again. I can’t wait for his own book!! Such a great performance.
This is the third book in the Omega Security series, and it’s one of my favorites so far! The story is packed with suspense, emotional depth, and even some tragic moments, but what really stood out to me was the incredible character growth, the theme of women empowerment, and the development of a pure and sweet love story. J.R.’s writing is captivating—it had my attention from start to finish.
The dynamic between Sam and Josh is fantastic. While their experiences are vastly different, their pain and vulnerability connect them in a deeply emotional way. I loved how they supported each other, helping one another heal while building a relationship filled with tenderness and strength. Their love story felt so genuine and heartfelt.
The audiobook narration was also a standout. Scott Rider, who is new to me, did an amazing job capturing Josh’s raw vulnerability and anger while also bringing out his softer side in his interactions with Sam. Heather Firth, as always, was incredible—she perfectly balanced Sam’s fragility in the beginning with her transformation into a strong, determined woman without losing her kindness. And, of course, I have to mention Joe Arden’s cameo as Rourke. He’s always phenomenal, whether in a lead role or a supporting one.
This book has it all—action, emotion, empowerment, and a love story with just the right touch of spice. A definite 5/5 for both the story and narration!
Blade is the third installment in the Omega Security Series—and, so far, my favorite. This story masterfully follows two troubled characters as they confront deep-seated trauma, heal, and gradually learn to trust again. Sam, scarred by a complicated past, is initially closed off to love, while Josh, long presumed dead, reconnects with his found family and begins to make peace with his painful history. Heather Firth’s performance as Sam is exceptional; she infuses the character with both compassion and palpable fear, conveyed through subtle shifts in tone. Additionally, Scott Rider does a fantastic job of voicing the raw emotions of his character, enhancing the depth of the narrative. JR Tootill outdoes herself with a storyline that skillfully explores vulnerability and healing, making this book not just a continuation of a phenomenal series, but a genuine gift to readers. Blade offers a therapeutic glimpse into the challenges of overcoming trauma, reminding us that even the most wounded souls can find solace and belonging.
I'm excited to have finally read Josh's story. I found him so interesting when he showed up in book 2 and was just as shocked as his friends were when he showed up.
This series gets better and better with each book.
What I loved most about the two MC's in this book, Josh and Sam, is how they understood each other's past trauma and helped each other through it. I also love Josh's protectiveness towards her.
I like how JR takes us through each book with a recap of what happened in the last through the POV of the MC in the current book. Knowing what Josh was going through when he surprised his friends was great to see.
The audiobook is narrated by Heather Firth, Scott Rider, with a cameo by Joe Arden. Scott is a new to me narrator, and I thought he did a great job with Josh and bringing the voices and personalities of the previous guys. Heather is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I love the emotion she puts into the characters she plays.
Duet narration performed by Heather Firth & Scott Rider, cameo by Joe Arden
• Romantic Suspense • Traumatic Pasts • Special Forces/Ex-SEALs • Found Family • Amputee •
This series has me locked in. I am more and more invested in this band of characters with each book.
This is book 3 in the Omega Series and follows Josh & Sammi. They are both a little broken due to past events and but they are so good for each other, uplifting and healing the broken pieces. Josh is a goner for Sammi the first time he sees her, but she takes a little while to come around due to feeling like she’s not worthy of love. It’s very emotional.
Like the others on the series, there is a great balance between the plot and the love story. The group dynamic nature of the storylines brings the previous characters back for much of the book and it’s wonderful to get a little more of their stories too.
The narrators were fantastic! Heather delivered a wonderful performance, really embodying characters. And this was my first time hearing Scott, and he did great! Always wonderful to get Joe too!
There's something timeless about a guy meeting the girl behind the coffee counter—how she becomes the highlight of his morning and, before long, his afternoons too. Codename Blade (Book 3 in the Omega series) by J.R. Tootill carries forward some overlap with the previous book, though not nearly as much as Book 2. That was a definite plus for me because, honestly, I was eager to dive into this new couple’s story.
Josh and Sam are perfect for each other. Both have pasts that weigh on them, yet they find a sense of completeness together. I especially loved that Josh sought Sammi's brother’s permission before pursuing her—a truly honorable trait that had me swooning. A recurring theme throughout this series is amputees, and Josh happens to be one, having lost his leg just below the knee. J.R. Tootill does a fantastic job of giving readers a real sense of what it’s like to live with a prosthetic, including the challenges of transitioning to a new one.
This book also introduced me to a new narrator, Scott Rider, while Heather Firth returns with her distinct, fast-paced narration. There’s even a small cameo by Joe Arden, hinting that his character will take on a bigger role in a future installment—something I’m definitely looking forward to!
JR is such a phenomenal writer and I love every book that l've read from her so far! All have been 5 stars in my opinion and this one has been added to the 5 star list!Josh has been resurrected and I love that JR made this choice because he’s probably my fav character right now. Josh and Sam are simply perfect for each other. They both have their past traumas and end up leaning on each other to feel whole again.
Sam is performed by Heather Firth who is one of my favorite female narrators! She excels in every book l've hear from her. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance as Sam and how she poured out all the emotions when they were needed. I also adore her kid voice which we get to hear a bit of! This was my first Scott Rider book and it did not disappoint! I could hear the differences in each of the character voices that he chose and thought he did an excellent job at sounding a bit like some of the other voice actors that we’ve heard in the series so far. I really enjoyed listening to him and can’t wait to hear more from him in the future!
Finally, we have Joe Arden, who makes a cameo as Rourke again and oh how I can't wait for his book! Such fantastic performances from each of these talented voices!
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Narrators. Scott Rider, Heather Firth and special guest Joe Arden
Sam and Josh
Josh newest member to Omega Security falls for the Sam the cafe owner.
They both have their demons they need to overcome. Josh adjusting to life stateside and Sam her past Both Scott and Heather did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life
Scott Rider is a new voice actor for me and he did a wonderful job with this book. I was impressed how he managed to sound like the previous male narrators who voiced the other books. Both Scott and Heather did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life
*ALC review* I've really come to love the Omega Security series, and this latest journey into this world just added to that love for me. I really enjoyed Josh and Sam's story, with both of them having baggage that they had to overcome to ultimately reach their HEA. These two fit seamlessly into the Omega fold, and their story took all of the twists and turns that I've come to expect from a J.R. Tootill story. Heather Firth did an amazing job bringing Sam to life, and I felt every emotion when in her POV. Scott Rider is a new to me narrator, but I enjoyed his portrayal of Josh and will definitely seek more works from him.
Codename Blade is book three in the Omega Series and J. R. Tootill continues to weave this world together in the most compelling way possible.
As I've come to expect from J. R. I was hooked from page one and fully immersed in this universe she created until the last page.
I had the privilege of an audiobook A L C that introduced me to Scott Rider as a stellar Josh and brought in the fabulous Heather Firth as Sam. These two voices were perfectly cast and matched each other for intensity throughout the story.
Joe Arden is also back with a cameo performance reprising his role as Rourke/Havoc and bringing a little extra depth to the story in audio.
I absolutely cannot recommend this series enough and, while you could read this book as a standalone and love it, if you haven't yet go back and start with book one. You'll love the first two just as much as this one.
Loved this story so much for Josh and Sam…glad to experience Josh‘s story after living in the shadows with his fake death for years. With Sam‘s backstory clashing with the current timeline, Josh and Omega are up to bat again. I really enjoyed the spice in the story as well as the storyline itself. Josh was a mysterious character in the last couple books. It was nice to see it be his time to shine. I’m really enjoying this Omega series and it’s always nice to see the old characters as well And how their lives are developing. The narration by Scott and Heather was amazing and really brought these two characters off the pages, with a cameo from JA that was also solid.
This is the third book in The Omega Series, an interconnected standalone Romantic Suspense. Josh and Sam's story is captivating, emotional, and entertaining, filled with drama, mystery, danger and twists and turns. Sam is beautiful, smart, and a strong survivor. Josh is handsome, protective, and supportive. I liked his determination. I liked the slow burn romance. The supporting characters are great. I loved to see again the characters from the first books in the series. Heather Firth and Scott Rider (with a cameo appearance by Joe Arden) did an excellent job bringing the characters and the story to life. #BlueNoseAudio
Audiobook review. I swear I've been waiting for since I listened to the last one. When this audio hit my ears, I couldn't put it down. I swear every book grabs me by the throat. I'm utterly obsessed with this series.
Normally I am not a fan of third person pov. However, I'd read this book on the back of a napkin because its incredible. Josh and Sam had my heart in their hands. The care and attention the both give each other to care for their trauma wounds. The way this team took them in as a family. I can't get over it. The way I need more immediately.
Josh and Sam’s story is a perfect blend of suspense, romance, and healing. Josh, a former SEAL, has lost everything, while Sam, a survivor of a cult, struggles with her past. Their connection is raw and beautiful, as they help each other heal. The emotional depth, thrilling suspense, and well-developed characters kept me hooked. Heather Firth delivers an outstanding performance, capturing Sam’s pain and resilience. Scott Rider impressed me with distinct character voices, and Joe Arden’s cameo was a great touch. The narration brought every moment to life, making this an unforgettable listen. J.R. Tootill has crafted another great installment.
Codename Blade The Omega 3 by JR Tootill Narrated by Heather Firth, Scott Rider
Give me a book by JR Tootill any day and I am a happy camper. Her writing style is exactly what I love. This series pushes all the right buttons for me and this made my day. Meet Josh. He has risen from the dead and when his friends see him, they are both happy and mad! But his skill and friendship overpower all and adding him to the Omega team is a no brainer. Angel is an incredible baker and seeing her everyday at the coffee shop is the way Josh likes to start his day. Their chemistry is explosive, but she is hesitant. She does not date, and her brothers are around to keep her safe. But exactly what is she hiding from? This is an amazing story, from start to finish. Learning about Josh and how he deals with his past is a heart tugging experience. Angel is right up there with all the feels as she begins to deal with her past. And how it comes to haunt her. The team is there, and I love getting the chance to hang out with them all again. I cannot wait to see where Tootill takes me next. I know I will get a fabulous escape!
Scott Rider and Heather Firth are fantastic together! Telling this story is full of emotional and tragic obstacles, and these two bring them all to the surface. Rider's voice is the perfect mix of protector and soldier. He has the best sound for romance! Firth falls into character as Angel, and she finds each facet of her personality. She knows how to make Angel real and tug at emotions. I loved these two as they brought this one to life!
