Ouch! My Vampire Doms Keep Biting Me

Rate this book
Two kinky vampires, one lucky woman.

If my homicidal monster of a stepfather catches me, he will kill me. So I run. I hide. It’s what I’m best at.

Unfortunately, the place I find to hide is filled with its own kind of monsters—the kind who crave my blood.

They also crave my body.

They crave my submission.

And despite the danger, I don’t hide. Because I crave their dominance.

Ouch! My Vampire Doms Keep Biting Me is pretty much what it says on the tin. Biting, dominant vampires. Sexy MFM romance. Suspense. It is part of a series and does not stand alone.

I haven’t done one of these reviews in a while, but here we go… This book reads like a first draft. The dialogue was used as a filler, and the plot—don’t get me started on the plot. The main character witnesses a murder early on but is seemingly unaffected by it. Which leads me to believe that she must have witnessed so much crime before that she isn’t bothered anymore. But how do we explain her naïveté, then? We don’t get much background information and it doesn’t help that the book ends abruptly. How do the vampires fit into the world? Why is the library so weird? And why does the main character fit into a cupboard? 4 stars average rating is an absolute lie—stop trying to publish fast “literature”. 2 stars ⭐️⭐️

The whole living in the library thing felt weird. Easy enough to get into. Took a break when she spied on the vamps and didn't immediately get caught. I'm surprised she was still free by the end of the book, with her name and face plastered everywhere. Will was all in sweet, but Xander, I dunno. He seems hot and cold, her return being his fault. Might give the next one a go.

This book was so fun, and a great read for how short it is. It didn't go deep into the world building, but did great with what world building it did give. I also loved the characters and the plot that was laid out in this book. I also didn't have anything to gripe about when it came to my read. I do want to continue the series to see where things go, but I want to say that I 100% recommend this for a fun read.

I'm so damn disappointed in this one... It started out so strong! The opening scenes were incredible, our heroine witnessing a murder, going on the run, landing in a mysterious library as her last safe haven which unbeknownst to her is home to a couple of sexy vampire men who can't resist her....and then what happened?

Basically nothing. First of all I was expecting MMF but it was actually MFM, aka they aren't really a throuple; the female lead is in a relationship with both of the guys, and they even have threesomes, but the guys aren't invested in or attracted to each other at all. In fact, they had a brotherly relationship if anything. Which made it really fucking confusing why they exclusively have sex in threesomes where both of them are present and are basically heterosexual life partners who live together and have done for 100 years and have bickering couple's arguments constantly.

If the book wanted to explore the weird relationship between them in all its unconventional glory and maybe even dive more into what parts of it were driven by their vampiric nature and psychology, it could have been one of the strengths of the books, but mostly it came off as a distracting disappointment. There was no reason for these men to be straight in this context and in this kind of book for this kind of audience, making them an actual throuple with them established as an MM couple first before bringing Autumn into the fold would have made much more sense and made for more satisfying reading.

It was hard to get emotionally invested beyond a certain point because none of our main characters will communicate with each other. I do not believe Xander and Will are one hundred for a hot minute. They are at least believable as being in their late twenties and early thirties though, which is more than I can say for Autumn who is way too stupid and naive to be bought as a twenty-five year old.

Autumn was hard to pin down for the first 30% of the story, which at that time made her seem enigmatic and interesting, but once I realized she was actually just stupid as fuck and had no handle on not only her current situation, but any situation whatsoever, it made me irritated on her and I realized she wasn't hard to pin down because she was grieving or in shock or on the run or in a brain fog from years of abuse and grief. It was just that she was literally dumb. Head empty no thoughts.

The book handwaves her not going to the cops as being because her stepdad has political connections and would buy the silence or cooperation of police; it's even hinted that the cop he kills in the opening is in his pocket. But Autumn doesn't know that, and even if she believes the cops are corrupt, we all know if there's anyone cops protect it's other cops. If she raised a fuss to the cops or even posted videos all over social media explaining her situation, there's no way they wouldn't at least be forced to perform an autopsy.

Instead of doing anything about it, she waits five or six days without calling the cops or telling anybody else what she saw because...she wanted to wait for the poison that killed him to be undetectable? She wants to sit around bemoaning about 'What should I do?' while flying in the face of any and all common sense.

Turning around and going on the run made sense because she was in shock, but when days and days passed and the shock wore off and she had allies and resources at her disposal to easily ask for advice or help with multiple situations, she chose to stubbornly shut the fuck up about it. This girl grew up rich and privileged and loved by her parents, she would absolutely not be so hesitant to just ask for what she wants, let alone needs. She didn't come up in a background where her needs were ignored or trivialized. Even when she was just left with her and her stepdad who is implied to be toxic, she states he still kept her comfortable with a nice lifestyle AND she's, again, twenty-five and has her own inheritance that is solely hers, but he is somehow an administrator of?

Is she in a conservatorship? Or was her mother's will that specific? And could she not, after accusing him of murder which she witnessed and of which there is still physical evidence, not just challenge his power over the administration of her inheritance in a court of law?

Watching Autumn make all her problems worse with her constant indecision wasn't frustrating enough, though, so we also get Xander and Will playing hot and cold for a cheap conflict that ties into an obligatory 'our sad dead ex from long ago, the human woman we loved and lost who MC reminds us of!' full of the line 'She's not Elizabeth!" again and again every time they argue.

I was having flashbacks to "Elena is not Katherine!" moments between Stefan and Damon on Vampire Diaries, and I'm sure it was intentional just as much as I'm sure it was annoying and unsuccessful.

Autumn has two one-hundred year old men at her disposal offering their aid and she doesn't...ask for help? Advice? A gun? For them to accompany her to get some stuff from her house and at least threaten her stepfather into leaving her be?

I genuinely cannot express how much potential this book had. If the writing didn't think the reader was stupid as fuck, it would have been great. Popcorn entertainment can be fun and commercial without being dumbed down! Come on.

I just wish this had let the characters be bi, be smart, be actionable, instead of sitting around hand-wringing about self-invented problems the entire time while refusing to even communicate with each other for no reason other than that the author couldn't do their damn job and think of an actual plot instead of throwing a cool setting and concept on top of a bunch of tired old tropes we were all already sick of in 2011 and calling it a day.

It just feels lazy. And it feels like a waste.

The writing/prose flows easily, and the short chapters were actually a refreshing change of pace. The opening was exciting and hooked me in. The library was so freaking cool. The characters and their relationships were where it absolutely fell apart. I love how writing can explore a character's internal world, unique voice, and the way all of our minds work so differently it's like they're their own interior hidden universes, and this is the kind of book that should have easily been able to harvest all that ripe emotion, drama, and intrigue from these characters and their situation, but instead it just felt empty and shallow.

I also tagged this as 'damn-you-capitalism' because frankly as much as I love novellas, you need to write a novella, not write one standalone novel and then break it into three novellas and call it a story. Each novella should stand on its own. It shouldn't be a cheap lazy cash-grab. That's not even something I can hold against this author though because it's simply not her fault, we're all trying to survive capitalism and its cutthroat hold on us in any way we can, it just disgusts me that this is where it's gotten, the over commercialization of art and creative spaces distracting and watering down from the end goal of a good, strong story.

I won't be continuing with this series but I won't rule out giving the author another chance in the future if the right story comes along. If you ARE just looking for some porn and don't care about the plot or writing at all, the sex scenes were at least hot, which is more than most erotica authors can accomplish these days, so she has that going for her!

For a short read, I actually enjoyed this. I would have like more of everything! But for how short it was, it was still decent! I’m definitely going to read the rest of the series because I need more of Xander and Williams and Autumn!

This is a spoiler-free review! Thank you to the author for providing me with an advanced copy for review! You can also read my reviews of Falling for Them and Playing by Their Rules on my blog.

Jayne introduces Autumn, Xander, and Will in this first installment -- a quick read for anyone looking for something to introduce themselves to her writing or to the genres in general. If memory serves, this is one of the first -- if not the first -- vampire romance books I have read, and I very much had a fun time reading it. This book certainly was filled with both plot and spice, and starting out hot with Autumn bearing witness to a crime that causes her to go on the run.

The pacing of the book definitely keeps the reader interested, so much so that you could finish this in one sitting in just about an hour if you have the chance to do so. I enjoyed that we were given perspectives from Autumn, Xander, and Will -- it really allows the reader to get into the headspace of all of the characters, which is a commonality in Jayne's writing that I definitely appreciate.

Xander and Will are similar, but both have very distinct characteristics when it comes to what they want from Autumn, which takes a toll on their relationship as they both get to know her on their own terms. The reader is able to see Will and Xander's internal struggles with Autumn coming into their lives, especially with their conflicting views on what they should do with her now that they know her and she has become a presence in their lives.

Autumn is really just trying to get by while on the run and starting over when she has a chance encounter with Will and Xander, which certainly takes her life for a turn in more ways than one. She becomes introduced to a whole new world while trying to rebuild her own, and she just happens to have two vampires to show her the ropes. I did find it hilarious that she did not even seem fazed by the fact that vampires were real and that she was in the presence of two of them -- she really rolls with the punches when it comes to obstacles in her life.

The spicier scenes are more mild compared to Jayne's other novels I have read, but still tasteful and enjoyable nonetheless. Jayne does a great job in making them move at an entertaining pace and places them into the story at opportune moments rather than just throwing them in for shock factor.

I do wish that we were given a bit more background on Will and Xander in regards to their relationship and how they came to live their lives together. It felt a little rushed when it came to introducing them into Autumn's life and then glossed over their actual presence in town. Autumn's choices while on the run also had me just a touched confused, because as a person on the run, I personally would not be stopping to read books at a library, but hey, a girl does what she wants.

With this book ending on a cliffhanger, I may find myself gravitating towards the series later on to see what exactly is in store for Autumn, Xander, and Will. For readers looking to get into paranormal romance, this is a great book to get yourself off the ground and into the genre.

Oh, no, the title of this one gave me hope for a fun spicy read, and while the steamy scenes are fun, as a book overall it was a letdown.

Firstly, I hate that this novel is published in parts that don't even make sense - like you either have a main plot each book and we get a series or you publish one full-length novel, but don't split the novel in I don't know how many parts without it making sense. It's not the first book of Calista Jayne that I've read this way and I am annoyed and disappointed (plus I refuse to pay $5 for each part of this novel when what I get is under 150 pages and it's not even satisfying plot-wise).

Secondly, this is oddly familiar - it's extremely similar to the other novel from Calista Jayne that I've read. We have our FMC who for whatever reason will need to live with our MMCs, in both cases because her life is in danger. Then one of the MMC is very into this arrangement and starts a relationship with the FMC, while the other MMC is not happy about the situation, even though he wants a relationship with the FMC too, but for whatever reason he cannot do it because of something that happened in the past, related to another woman. So yeah, pretty much the same plot as last time except the MMCs are vampires now and they live in a library - which I find very hard to resist.

Then there are a lot of things that do not make sense - like why would the FMC just stop at the library to read a BDSM book instead of finding a job and a place to live? And the novel is full of so many other silly decisions... Make it make sense?

There's also not much development on our vampires - I wanted to learn more about them and especially see more of their personalities, but alas... I will probably read the next installments, although I am waiting for them to be available on Everand next month.

This series may just be my newest obsession. I absolutely loved Autumn, Will, and Xander, and I loved the all of the situations they found themselves in together throughout this novella.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how much steam and character development Jayne fit into this story. Autumn had a great, if unfortunate, introduction that had me instantly engaged with her life. Both Will and Xander, being vampires, had less on-page history between them but it was clear from their character development and personalities that there was a lot of history there that I'm sure will be explored further in future novellas. Even with much of the narrative focused on Autumn, I saw a lot of character coming through for both vampires; I found them both to be distinct and well-written.

This story had a great balance of Autumn's life; her pre-vampire days were a series of harrowing events that only proved her multifaceted-ness as a brave and strong woman who is just as at home in the role of a sub. By the end of this first novella, Autumn was just coming into her role and I can't wait for things to heat up even further between her, Will, and Xander.

I loved Jayne's writing style; it was easy to get lost in, and provided the right amount of description to truly make the scenes pop. I loved the little instances where Jayne put her own twist on the vampire myth.

Autumn, Xander, and Will's story is just starting, and I can't wait to see where their lives together lead them next.

Good start to a new series. This is the first book from this author I have read. I have to say that it was hard for me to put this down. Autumn is the stepdaughter of a powerful Senator. When she witnesses him kill another employee, she is on the run. With no money and no id, she ends up in a little small-town San Esteban. Finding herself in a library, she decides to hide out there and sleep in a cabinet. Will and Xander also live in this library, Will and Xander are Dom Vampires who only use consenting subs.

Autumn witnesses them with another woman and cannot stop looking. Xander notices her watching and issues an ultimatum – either do as he says or leave. When Will scents her, he is automatically taken in by her and she gives her consent for one night, then they will wipe her memories not only for her safety, but also for theirs. For the first time, Autumn feels safe. Both Xander and Will want to “keep” her, but know that cannot happen. But what happens when her memories are triggered and she remembers?

Book ends on a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I can't read this story any faster! It's so delicious! I'm reading this on Kindle Vella and I just breezed through 18 chapters in one morning's read and I'm a little miffed that the rest isn't waiting for me to devour it already, lol! This story has dramatic tension, with a girl on the run from an evil stepdad, who she just realized was worse than she had been thinking. She's desperate to get away alive, and she makes decisions on the spur of the moment. By the time the vampires find her, she's in your heart, you're invested in what could happen to her, angry about how some people treat her, but her personality is NOT small and weak, she's tougher than people give her credit for. I'm loving all the elements of this story, from the devious plots and sub-plots to the crazy hot sex scenes, to the upbeat personalities that make it fun to read the dialogue they have on a constant basis! I'm into the end and will probably get the book when it's released too. Why haven't I read more of this author before? I don't know, but I'm on it now, lol!

Autumn is from a wealthy family with a powerful stepfather. One day she is home early and is surprised when she hears her stepfather in the backyard with a stranger. She is horrified when she witnesses her stepfather murder the other man. Autumn goes running out and is almost caught by her stepfather. She ends up in hiding and sleeping in a private library. Later she finds out that the library is owned by two vampire doms. She is surprised how much she envies the woman being dominated by them.

Xander and Will are two vampire doms who enjoy sharing. A long time ago they both shared a beautiful sub but their passion got them carried away and she suffered. They are both determined to never fall for a woman again until they meet Autumn. Even though they feel like they would be a threat to her, they can't stay away.

Calista Jayne is one of my all time favorite authors and it is because of books like My Vampire Dome Keep Biting Me is why. Calista adds just the right amount of suspense, drama and steam to give you a complete experience.
The mysteries of the Corbin Library come to light in My Vampire Doms. Autumn is on the run and finds refuge within the walls of the Corbin, but is she in as much danger when she is found by the dangerously handsome Doms who own the library. This is the first installment of this wonderful series and does end on a hanger but it is so worth waiting for the next book.
You can also find it in Kindle Vella.
This book does contain triggers, so be sure to read them before you dive in.

This is the 1st book in the My Vampire Doms series featuring the steamy entertaining BDSM romance between Will,Xander and Autumn. When Autumn runs from her evil stepfather she knows that she has to hide good or he'll kill her. Too bad for Autumn that the place she picked to hide is the library of 2 sexy dominant vampires in a BDSM club. When they find her she's not afraid more like attracted to the sexy vampires. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this steamy, entertaining,BDSM romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Autumn is running from her stepfather, but finds herself unable to stay away from a new danger. She seeks shelter in a library and stumbles upon it's owners - a pair of vampires.

They have strict rules when they play with humans, but the draw to Autumn has them bending them, straining their relationship.

I loved how the characters were written. I could tell the difference between scenes from Will and Xander's perspectives. They have their own issues, but when they get together the pages burn with steam. Autumn has a humiliation kink that Xander exploits by pointing out how much she likes what they do to her.

Story leaves off wanting to know what comes next in book 2. Eager to jump back into their world.

I picked up this book because it looked interesting. The author is new to me. I liked her writing style. She describes this as an installment, and for the most part I agree. The story has enough substance to keep me entertained. Lots and lots of spicy steam to the "romance". If you are not into BDSM please do not purchase this book. Those scenes were well written.
The flow was good. The story ends in a cliffhanger. But most good series do.
I did purchase the next book ,to see what would happen next.
I liked that we got a background of Autumn. Why she was in the library. I would have liked a little more information about Will and Xander. We do get some but I would have liked more.

Autumn just needs a place to hide out from her murdering stepfather. Xander and Will just happen to have a private library with lots of places to hide. Sure they might get mad when they find her, but it is a risk she is willing to take. But when she finds out that her unsuspecting hosts are vampires, she isn't as scared as she thought she would be. Attraction and passions flow and I couldn't stop reading. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was an exciting first book by a new-to-me author. Aurora, on the run from her murderous stepfather, finds refuge in a library that's apparently owned by two vampires... What follows is an entertaining run of them trying to find what smells so good and her trying to stay safe ;P With the perfect amount of suspense, danger, drama and steam, I couldn't put this book down. Expect to need a fan when you dive into this series opener, and like me, be anxiously waiting for the next installment to see how things continue to unfold. Good fun!

Autumn watches as her step dad commits a murder. She panics and runs. She has help getting out of Altera. She manages to spend two nights in a seedy motel. Then at the local private library the librarian turns a blind eye when she spends her nights there. Then she meets two vampires, Will and Xander. Life gets interesting afterwards!
Lovely book about two vampires who come to odds about her. What makes it interesting is the danger she is in of which they have no idea.

A lot of fun. A very light and quick read. And it ends in the middle of the story, so you have to then wait for the next installment. Which makes sense, since this started on Vella.

Autumn is running for her life from her stepfather, who definitely might cause a tragic accident to befall her.

She hides in a private library and finds two vampires. Who only suck blood from consenting submissive women. :) OK, OK -- but it works and it is enjoyable.

And they have an old nemesis who is coming for them.

As I said, quick read and a lot of fun. I will be continuing the story.

This was OK but I still have too many unanswered questions.
There is no backstory on Will and Xander...how they became vampires, why are they bonded, where they are from, how old they are, why they are living in a private library.

Autumn acted strange as well. When running for your life; do you stop and read a book on BDSM? If she's so scared and alone; why not tell Will and Xander her story and ask for their help.
The most glaring issue is that she doesn't even react to them being vampires. Don't think I'll continue this series.

Autumn trying to escape her murderous stepfather and hides out in a BDSM club and in that club, a library belonging to Xander and Will, two hot vampires. When she is found, the vampire's and dominants try to resist this beautiful submissive human, but she will do whatever it takes to stay hidden from her stepfather. Fast, fun, steamy, short book 1 in a series. Looking forward to book 2.

this book could've been decent ,... sadly its shameful it was released as incomplete as it is . none of the major plot points are resolved in its measly 83 pages (according to my kobo) and instead your left with a full on cliffhanger telling you to check out the next installment of the series. .. what incentive is there to do that when its clear they're just dragging things into multipul 1 3rd length books? ...

a shame honestly.

It's okay

The only reason I gave it three stars is for the library. It's a good story idea, but too drawn out for such a short book. The story is incomplete, even for a first installment to a series. There is no ending, it just stops. I can only assume it was meant to be a cliffhanger, but it was poorly executed. It's not interesting enough for me to want to purchase the next book though.

The title sounds so innocent but so thrilled it's not.
Wicked step father, awesome library and two kinky vampires.
The question is:. Is reading as good as the real thing and can it really work or this just a fantasy?
Love the story just had the thought of waiting to read the next installment.
