Stephen Blumberg

He spent countless hours of his childhood playing in the great forests of Western Massachusetts, playing in its rivers and lakes, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. An originally shy and antisocial loner, Stephen invented his own worlds and would go on adventures inside them and eventually, that was how his debut title - The Eldritch Tome - was born. At 18, Stephen joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Guam and then Utah, under the shadows of the Wasatch Front at the feet of the Rockies. In 2008, he deployed to Iraq. After getting out in 2010, he learned to fly helicopters and eventually moved across the U.S. with his family to the Pacific Northwest where he is now a nurse. These days, he enjoys losing himself in his universe and rolling the dice with his friends and family in DnD. He also enjoys retro style, 16 bit indie games, space sims, and loves to DJ and produce melodic and emotionally evoking electronic bass music.

Very captivating
Apart from this book being the longest I've ever read.
I can't fault it as I enjoyed every page of it.
It is one of those books that deserves to be televised I'm sure it can be above Lord of the rings and others with ratings.
It an is action packed adventurous story about a Northman named Rig in an environment were they have to fight satyrs to stay alive.

Epic battles, heroic feasts, and all the mead you can drink! If you like high fantasy in massive worlds with complex magic systems and characters that gain powers, strengths, and magical gear as the story goes on, then The Eldritch Time is for you. What starts as an innocuous story about a boy and his father surviving the cold forests of the North, the narrative soon turns into an epic tale of adventure and glory as our hero, Rig, takes to the seas and embraces his destiny. Expect the clash of steel, bursts of magic, a bit of romance, and a whole lot of food!
Blumber's narration is pleasant and straightforward. It brought me back to my youth when I read Steven Brust's phoenix series (the Khaavern Romances). His descriptions of the characters and the world they live in are vivid and tangible. Readers can expect to be lost in exciting combat one minute, and then sharing a pint of mead over tales of glory the next. The novel reads a bit like a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with a great group of friends relishing their exploits post-battle with verbose yarns.
Part one of the saga is in. I now eagerly await part two and beyond.

So to start this off... I've got to say... WOW!! There's too many things to make off about why this book is so good. First off, I felt heavy Highlander vibes with a splice of LOTR and GOT except with much more intense magic! You follow Rig on his journey leaving his home country of Nordfold and heading to the seas aboard the Swanheart. Once you get to Clogg things get real as the big bad Rossthiof shows up. My favorite part of the book is when you meet Thengill and William joins the trio. During part 2 of the book, Author Stephen Blumberg shines in his description of magic, lore, and fights. I don't think I've read a fantasy book with quite this unique of a magic system and it easily made this my favorite Indie fantasy read of the year. I love, love, love Rig's Wolframite great sword as it only adds to his character and gives him something quite unique. I cannot wait to see what's in store for our heroes come book 2. It's going to be an epic ride. The passion the author feels for his story is evident in the tasteful and colorful descriptions and intriguing characters. I laughed, gritted my teeth and cursed at some characters. Also, I'd recommend eating before you read this book. The author's descriptions of food is out of this world. If you like the works of Sanderson, Martin, Jordan, Goodkind, and Tolkien then you will absolutely dig this dark epic Norse inspired fantasy! Highly recommend! 10 stars!

All together, great book. I read the authors story about himself before, and I can relate to it as I lived around the same time. Anyways, I liked the book as it dealt with Norse mythology. If you like books, similar to that, then this is one for you until Kelly exploded, it’s a longer book but I feel that it’s worth it.

Epic Fun!!!
This is a debut novel from a fresh and clearly talented author. I haven't gotten a chance to finish yet but will right a full review after. So far it's been a wild ride. Heavy Norse vibes and well thought out characters. Can't wait to finish this awesome book!!

Nice fantasy warrior read
This was a good story. A bit long, but good. The author writes well, so the story is easy to follow and had enough captivating to keep a reader reading.

I got Tolkien, I Got Lucas, But I ALSO got Python
my ONLY problem with this book was that I wanted more Bolweif. he was MY DUDE! I see him clearly as the pops of the kid that doesn’t want to marry the girl with enormous tracks of land in In Search of the Holy Grail. he carries that caliber of comic charisma. hopefully, he’ll return in the sequels. Rig was Aragon-heroic while Thengill gave me Master Yoda. as for Rossthiof… c’mon… do you even HAFTA ask?

Runes, immortals, magic!
This book was awesome! You have vivid descriptions of landscapes that will put your imagination in places like Skyrim, the action is abundant, the magic system is highly detailed, with a young immortal who must make the trial and error journey of training and discovery. The dialogue and interactions will carry you through the story. And I love that we have three men on a mission partly of revenge and also to save their world from a genocidal immortal.
Another particular detail I was absolutely enthralled with was the use of Norse runic lore. For Norse enthusiasts like myself, the way Mr. Blumberg applies runic is authentic and well researched for proper placement. It’s fitting into events and background will make any of us cheer.
Also, on a humorous side note I am not one to speak on most times: do not read this without having a meal first. Mr. Blumberg’s food descriptions will make you want to eat your phone or book just to get something of a taste.
I’ll be eagerly waiting for the second volume of The Eldritch Tome, because it’s clearly time for immortal combat!

This is without a doubt one of the most unique takes on a fantasy epic I have ever come across. Ancient powers lost to time, monsters and beasts, and combats of epic scale abound in the first part of this incredible story. Giants are slain with sword and spell while flying terrors are brought low archers and marksmen. The magic systems seems very simpe at first, but once you start to dig into it the system is quite the trip! Stephen has crafted a story that feels familiar and yet unique at the same time. I cannot wait until Part 2 comes out. I will certainly be reading that one as well.

Starting out i thought, over 500 pages...that is a healthy read. I found myself wanting another 200 pages when finished. It has been a while since I read a story that matches The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, but Stephen weaved a masterful story. I enjoyed watching Rig grow as a character, and fascinated by his adventures, Satyrs, Wolves, Giants, and magic just to name a few. I highly recommend this as a read if your looking for the next new adventure.

Kudos to the author for crafting a captivating 400+ page book filled with magic, lore, and action, showcasing a remarkable level of creativity.
I have one suggestion: the pacing occasionally suffers due to long narratives. The author might consider trimming some of the lengthy descriptions to maintain the story's momentum more.

Excellent high fantasy tale with excellent worldbuilding
As a fantasy reader, I love a good fantasy world with unique characters, systems, and mechanics. This book has it all in spades and I’m looking forward to the next one. Loved learning about the magic and reading about this heroes journey. Looking forward to the next volume!

Colossal
This is the kind of book many authors set out to write but few ever achieve its scale. While not fast-paced, it is an engrossing tale the establishes a world worth departing yours for. I particularly appreciated Blumberg’s elevation of less-popular fantasy tropes in original takes. Thank God this isn’t a standalone book, on to the next.

Eldritch Tome is a gripping dark fantasy that blends rich world building with high stakes and raw emotion. Where do you even begin with this. An absolutely amazing fantasy epic. The characters the story line the magic all of it is phenomenal and captivating. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next.

Slow Burn. Good Read.
The Eldritch Tome was my first ever epic fantasy read so I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not qualified to provide a decent review. I am an author myself and have read a variety of work so I will give it my best. My only critique is that the chapters were a bit long for my personal taste. Otherwise, the book was well-written. I felt transported to a world that made me think of a blend between Dungeons & Dragons and Game of Thrones. The imagery was rich and Stephen’s attention to detail was impressive. I’ve been chastised for being too detailed myself so I appreciated it. It was easy to tell that Stephen put his heart and soul into this book. I felt the passion in his words. Despite it being a slow burn, the book was enjoyable. It is definitely appropriate for all ages so long as you have a palate for magical realism.
