Ain't Misbehavin': A Good Behaviour Guide for Family Dogs

Rate this book
In the USA the major cause of death in dogs is owners having them put down because of behaviour problems, a third of the dogs abandoned in the UK have been left for the same reason. The author, a pet behaviour therapist, explains how the way we live and interact with dogs is often counter-effective because we are not understanding behaviour from the dog's perspective. Using proven and simple strategies, this guide aims to help turn unmanageable dogs into the perfect pets.

Well this book is completely outdated. The whole chapter on Dominance and stating silly rules like always eat before your dog, or stand in their bed and make them get off it is just terribly old fashioned advice based on the ‘dominance theory’. It also promotes fear and pain-based punishment methods like the electric collar. There are more ethical ways to teach your dog appropriate behaviour.
