Deep in the Florida Everglades during the great economic depression of 1932, Florinda Harrison fretted with the dreadful decision she had to make. Life without Buddy was unendurable. It had now been ten months since he went on the fateful hunting trip from which he hadn't returned. She knew she and her three small children desperately needed help if they were to survive in this harsh environment. One small hope remained; there were rumors of a 'white-man' living with Indians near Lake Okeechobee. Deputy Sheriff, Jim Harrison, her father-in-law, had gone to investigate. She must hold out for awhile longer - could she?

An amazing reimagining of what 'might have happened'. Based on the true story of his father disappearing in the Florida Everglades in 1932, Hamilton takes his readers on a journey through depression era Florida as a weaves a tale of what might have happened if his father had lived.

As a native Floridian stretching back many generations, my first love in reading fiction is anything having to do with the state of Florida in her infancy. I had the pleasure of being one of the first readers of this new novel. Written by a man who was born and raised in the Florida Everglades and Ten Thousand Islands, the story comes alive with the sights and sounds of the era, the people, and the untamed Everglades.

This is an engaging story that is hard to put down. You will be caught up in the intrigue and suspense as a father searches for his son and a wife struggles to survive in the swamps while holding out hope that her husband is out there somewhere.

Don't miss this candid look at the Florida Everglades at the height of the Depression era!
