Relentless Pursuit is not as interesting as the previous books. In fact the story is mediocre. Miss Brooks is smart by putting suspense plot into the story. For me the romance is more in the background.
A long term crush needs more drama/ vulnerable moment to make it work. And sadly in Relentless Pursuit that is what is lacking. Overall this book is not very nor very good.
Re-listening to this series is like doing it for the first time. It has been a few years and I remember loving it but not many of the details.
Tammy and Mo's relationship is special and I love that it isn't romantic, but that he will do anything for her because he sees her as his sister or best friend.
The murder and then all the incidents that are happening, make this for an interesting book to listen too. You think one thing and then you think another and it just kept me on the edge of my seat.
Tammy has had such a huge crush on Pierce Davies that she never thought he would look at her with anything but friendly acquaintance until he does and that is when all hell has hit the fan.
I enjoyed the back and forth the who did it, I can't wait to keep going with this series.
Wonderfully written with a easy flow to the story.Filled with action and suspense and a strong community bond that rivals no other. Love, laughter, fear and characters you can't help but love, this is definitely a MUST READ.
This is the story of the youngest Davies brother Pierce. He has a secret and is hiding it from his friends and family until he works out all the kinks. So Tammy Fields who you know if you've read the previous books has a major thing for Pierce and is in his corner as he tries to remember and prove his innocence, she investigates, stands by his side, and is totally determined to prove he did not do this. Tammy and Pierce become close and sparks fly as he realizes this beautiful women is stronger and more loyal then any women his been involved with before. Together they face murder charges, multiple assassination attempts, a car accident, fires and a bomb. Can they survive and find those truly responsible and find their happily ever after? Read to find out, I promised you won't be disappointed.
Just when I think things can't get any more exciting in Keeneston, KY. Kathleen Brooks brings it to a whole different level of super charged excitement, fun, and a whole town of well meaning but interfering family and friends. Mix in kick ass Gal Pal group and the hunky, think they can control their woman, men, and you have a sexy, exciting funny, and oh so great book about a small town that comes together to protect their own. I want to move to this town and become one of the one of the protectors. I cannot wait for the next books in this series.. Looking forward to getting to know the next Davies brother and Oh so glad that Ahmed is getting is own book... Yeah..
Pierce and Tammy. Pierce has secrets and oh they are a good doozy. The murder was surpassing and the rallying of the town expected. Ahmed and Marcy were the two MVPs for me with this story. Marcy is an amazing mom to the Davies and Ahmed is the friend and bada** everyone dreams of. Nabi is adorable/hilarious and the new additions of Neely Grace and Bridget have me excited for more stories. Bridget was a hero and k loved her bet! Pierce and Tammy are a cute couple and experience some major trauma moments to get to their HEA. The ending has a cliffhanger which did not surprise me; but that does have me ready to dive into the next book!
I’ve enjoyed this series and the series that proceeded it very much but I’ll be honest, if I lived in this town I think I’d be looking to move because some crazy, scary, violent stuff takes place in this small Kentucky town. That being said, I enjoyed Relentless Pursuit but not as much as some of the previous books.
Pierce Davies to be honest is kind of a jerk. He’s extremely smart, well educated, and has worked hard but he dates and beds women as sport and he doesn’t really think about how is actions affect others. Marriage isn’t a word in his vocabulary and he won’t date “nice” women because he knows they’ll expect a happily ever after. He’s a good son and brother but he’s kept a big secret from his family because he didn’t want their opinions or help. I know he can’t be all bad because when he’s accused of murder everyone rushes in to help him including the woman who has had a crush on him for years.
Two years ago Tammy Fields made the decision to do something with her life and to forget about Pierce Davies. Now a paralegal, she’s updated her wardrobe, had a makeover, and is bound and determined to be a new woman. She’s doing a good job of changing her life but when Pierce is accused and arrested for murder, she’s immediately thrust into helping defend him.
First off I’m not an ogre so yes, I did feel sorry for Pierce and his situation what I found so hard to believe was how fast Tammy jumped into doing so much for him and the fact that he all of a sudden couldn’t do without her. I just didn’t find the timeline believable and honestly, I’m disappointed that Tammy rolled over so easily. I would have liked her to put up more of a fight; to confront him for the crappy way he’s treated her over the years, and make him work to win her affections. I mean really, really, really work for it. Pierce going from never going to marry to I can’t live without her honestly made me snicker. Too much, too quick and even though I know stressful situations can make people do crazy things I still found it hard to believe he changed his tune that easily.
While I really didn’t buy the breakneck speed in which these two become a couple, I did find the suspense part of the book interesting especially Pierce’s invention. I was more than thrilled to see all of the couples from the previous books as well as many of the townspeople because these books would not be the same without their interfering selves. Seeing Ahmed alone was well worth the price of the book especially when he’s intrigued by a woman.
Relentless Pursuit has some flaws but the suspense and mystery added together with a delightful cast still made this an enjoyable read. Even though this one missed the mark for me, I’m still looking forward to the next book in this series.
OMG!!! What an amazing book! I know I have said this before but I will say it again. Kathleen Brooks' books keep getting better and better. I got hooked with Pierce's and Tammy's story immediately. I think they are just so adorable and romantic. It took time for Pierce to really "see" Tammy, but he made up for lost time. This book has all of the components I look for in a novel: romance, humor, action, suspense, drama and happy ending. A keeper! Now I can't wait for Cy's and Ahmed's story to be released!
Wonderful book, I couldn't put it down. I loved the story of pierce and Tammy. It was a great story with a cliff hanger ending. Congratulations Kathleen on another wonderful book
Relentless Pursuit is the fourth book in the Bluegrass Brothers series (Bluegrass Book #8) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
Relentless Pursuit takes a more intense turn with Pierce Davies at the center of a murder investigation that threatens to destroy his reputation and future. As a known playboy, Pierce isn’t used to being taken seriously—until his life is on the line. Enter Tammy Fields, a paralegal who’s secretly harbored feelings for Pierce but has finally decided to move on. When she’s pulled into the case to help prove his innocence, old feelings resurface, and the stakes become personal. This book is an emotional rollercoaster, mixing thrilling suspense with a deeply satisfying romance. Pierce’s journey from carefree bachelor to a man fighting for his life—and for love—is one of the strongest character arcs in the series. Tammy is a fantastic match for him, bringing both intelligence and heart to the story. The mystery is engaging, with well-placed twists and turns, and the romance is perfectly paced. A gripping, heartfelt read that stands out in the series.
This was a really well plotted out story with lots of twists and turns! I always love each Bluegrass Book and This one was the same! I love the interaction between the family members. I love the updates about the previously featured couples! As in all her Bluegrass Books you can be sure that it will be sexy, romantic and interesting with cute little humorous parts to make you smile! She weaves all the story elements together so skillfully and manages to keep your interest throughout the whole book!!!!
Overall Amanda score: A+ Pierce Davies finally grows up and realizes what has been right in front of him for so many years! This was such a good read. Kathleen did an amazing job with these characters as well. Tammy honestly deserves better than the old version of Pierce, I am so glad he finally stepped into a role worthy of all that she is. I am really enjoying this book series. I haven't read anything by this author that I don't like. It has all been so good. Romance, comedy, action, and a small town feel. I wish this town existed, I would move there in a heartbeat!
Book # 4 or 7. Pierce and Tammy, well this one was a long time coming. Like I have stated many times before this is one of my favorites in the series. A sassy paralegal and a farmer with a lot of potential, things are about to get good. Happy reading!!
Liked the story about Pierce and Tammy. Did not like the cliffhanger ending. Frustrated with the lack of editing/errors in all this author's books. #3 in the series wasn't bad but quite a few errors in this one.
Tammy finally gets her man, and so much fun in the process. It’s great reading a good story that includes a lot of the people in the stories prior. It’s like getting extra story lines
Super read from start to finish. A good gripping cliffhanger to keep you buying the next one. Thoroughly recommend this book to all who are looking to be entertained for a few hours of pure pleasure.
I love the way the books in this series are written. The books have a wonderful family plus more great characters and great suspense. There are many fun scenes in the cafe. The romances are enjoyable. Very entertaining!!
I'm baffled by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. I stuck it out with this book so I could at least get credit for it on my reading challenge, since it was such a fast read... but it was a fast read because it was terribly written. There was no real character development, the writing itself was at a level I'd expect from a junior high or high schooler, glaring grammatical mistakes, and the story line was preposterous. I'm genuinely confused, based on on this book (I have not read the entire series) how anyone would willingly read more than one, or how the author could have made a status of 'National Best Seller'...
Cy finally comes home, and he brought someone with him. Gemma's twin sister was murdered, now she has to trust a total stranger to get her safely out of town. Cy acts interested in Gemma. The problem is every Hollywood starlet and socialite are constantly texting, sexting, and calling him.
I have to say that I read this less than a week ago and even after reading the description don't really remember the story. I remember it was quick and easy but not much more than that.
I am from Kentucky so this series is fun for me. It's not high literature, but it's entertaining and passes the COVID quarantine almost enjoyable. I loved it.
Tammy is awesome. Love the humor in the book mixed with the suspense and of course the community spirit. Great book - much better after reading the other books of course.
