What really struck me about this book are the two young ladies that we meet. Their intelligence, resourcefulness, compassion, loyalty, and how level-headed they are. After reading about their past I understand their need to have such attributes but things could have easily gone the other way. I was almost felt proud to be a woman as I read about these two strong, young ladies and can only imagine the hope and prosperity that they could bring the future if given the chance.

River Magic is an easy read with a captivating storyline. J.M. Brown is a skilled writer and storyteller that drew me in immediately and shared a new adventure on each page. I read this book in one setting because I was literally unable to put it down.

I received a complimentary copy of eBook, River Magic, by J.M. Brown for the purpose of review. Please note, the opinions expressed are my own and I am not required to provide a positive review.

I’m not entirely sure what to classify this book.

And I’m not entirely sure how to share my feelings on this book.

The book was long and drawn out, but not in a bad way.

It was a good read. Enjoyable. But it was really long and nothing of pure interest got my attention until the end. Literally, the last 4-5 pages of the end. That is where I got hooked and will be grabbing the next book to see how it continues.

There wasn’t drama, action, suspense. It just was. It was a story of two girls. It was a good story about two girls, but not with a lot of the normal book “stuff”.

It is something I would read again and as I mentioned, I will be picking up the next book (False Magic) to see what happens in the continuation because I have grown to care for these two girls.

Overall, because I did like the story and I did become attached to the girls and because I am dying to know what happens, I give this book a 3.5-4 rating out of 5.

Although written as a young adult novel this story of adventure and friendship is enjoyable by all ages. It was refreshing to read a young adult novel that does not revolve around a love story.

JM Brown writes with a delightful skill that causes this story to maintain intelligence while still being a quick read. Each page has new adventures that will make the reader want to keep going and not put it down. Truely a talented author.

I would love to read more and highly recommend this novel.
