Located on CL-7, in the Lacerta system, ninety light-years from Earth, Halcyon is inhabited by three-hundred wealthy colonists, enjoying a paradise-like life. The past five years have been nothing short of that, however, 144 miles north of the colony, studies on an alien life form have been underway. A very tentative five stars.

Antecarnem by Jacob Russell Dring is a science fiction, horror novel about a planet far from Earth where humanity is trying to build a life. There is no life on the planet, not even insects.

Or so they thought. Life is probably too strong of a word for the alien creatures that scientists literally dug up.

Dring has a good handle on science fiction and writing it in a way that makes it easy for anyone to read whether they're strongly suited to the science fiction horror themes. There were a few errors in the last part of the book showing that the author was excited to finish and forgot to eat, but the errors didn't make the story unreadable.

I recommend this read if you like gore, if you don't... I would avoid it.

Let Dring take you on an action packed adventure far from home and allow yourself to be caught up with the characters. I did feel like some of the characters could have been better developed but the book isn't really about one specific character, so it still works.

Definitely pick this up and give it a read, you won't regret it.
