Tom Rollins never helps a bad guy. But this one is family.
Former black ops specialist Tom Rollins has saved his wayward brother Anthony more times than he can remember. So when his father calls to tell him Anthony is in deep trouble yet again, Tom decides that this time his brother can sort out his own mess.
But when his father decides to take on the rescue mission himself, Tom realises he has to step up. He travels to Chicago, where he finds Anthony is in way over his head.
Heavily in debt to a ruthless gang and mixed up with the worst kind of cop, he’s living on a knife edge. As Tom desperately fights to save his brother’s life, he is forced to make a deal with the devil and use his CIA-honed skill set to take on the fearsome Chicago mob.
And that’s a battle even Tom Rollins can’t count on winning.

Tom Rollins is trying to settle down, he has moved in with his girlfriend and life is good. Then his father appears and it seems that his brother has got himself into trouble. Tom doesn't care about helping him but when his father goes to to help his son Tom is forced to help out. Blood Feud is another gritty masterpiece by Paul Heatley. I don't understand where he gets it all from, this is the third book out this year. Well I shouldn't complain since I love his work and if you like me enjoys a good thriller check him out. There is some curveballs thrown in this one I didn't see coming. I give a big thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for letting me read this.
After reading this book it seemed to me that I was reading an open shell of a book. What I mean to say is that this book is missing all the tools that a most intriguing book should have. While the characters were plenty of and carried that emotional and engaging persona, other aspects of the book really need some work. My interpretation of the book is that it was reaching out to young readers. Why? This book was written as a thriller with serious action and drama. No young reader wants to read that. They rather play video games when it comes to the action that was listed in the synopsis. The dialogue from the main character seemed so blah, blah. It was as though a young punk kid with a chip on his shoulder. The kid was talking rather than expressing an intelligent, grown man conversation from someone with a serious background. The characters walked around in the story in more of a robotic state than the comfortable engaging character. A character who appears to be in their element feeding off other characters, their surroundings and the plot to the book. The one thing I was lost on was the description or details of what the characters looked like. Their facial expressions. Needless to say I struggled with the book. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
Too bad that we can’t choose to which family we are born. Tom’s brother is yet again in trouble and doesn’t recognize that it’s due to his poor decision making. True to form, Anthony despises Tom for his “interference” even though their father asked Tom to help. Of course Tom saves the day in the only way he could. And I didn’t see coming what Anthony did at the end. However, I’m not surprised given his track record. All in all, it was another thrilling but bittersweet tale for the Rollins family.
We all know Tom and his brother Anthony don't get on, well this book brings all that to a head Dad gets involved with Anthony, Tom has to dig them both out of trouble, in what only Tom can do well No real surprises, except for the epilogue, I had greater expectations of him Wonder if the next book is an immediate sequel ?
He’s the perfect alpha male hero! He refrains from killing…capable of restraint…he’s a badass when necessary…he gets the job done. PH doesn’t waste time authoring pages on lengthly dialogue between characters which I gladly skip with other writers. For me, it’s all about the ACTION…don’t dawdle…GET IT DONE…FULL ON! Thank you, PH for being excellent at providing that lightening energy. My only complaint…do we really have to have characters always chewing their bottom lips, drawing blood? WHO DOES THAT?!?. Enough all ready!

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
You know what to expect from this author and that's a high octane action thriller where Tom Rollins rides in to save the day. This is no exception and it's hard to believe we're already at the ninth book in the series.
This time things are personal when Tom reluctantly follows his father to Chicago on the trail of his brother Anthony who has gotten into a spot of bother with a local gang and also a corrupt policeman. Tom and Anthony are estranged so calling some kind of truce is not an easy task. This was hard to put down as usual as once Tom gets involved, you can be sure there's lots of violence and I always race through the story. Cindy is back more to the fore in this rather than just being in a different location behind a laptop. Not sure how to describe the ending, good with a hint of foreboding maybe?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Tom has been living with girlfriend Hayley and working as a bartender for close to a year. There are hints that he is BORED. Then Hayley hosts a surprise birthday party for him and family and friends surprise him.
That's when he finds out from his Dad that his "bad boy" brother Anthony is in trouble again. They haven't spoken in years and he wants nothing to do with him, but when his Dad takes off alone to Chicago, he is guilted into following him to help out.
Not sure how Anthony turned out so stupidly bad but it's really bad this time. Lots of gang activity, a crooked cop and Tom trying to save him even though he doesn't want the help. Anthony really doesn't deserve saving.
Although I like the series and the action, some of the earlier books were better-maybe because Anthony is so unlikeable.
I came upon this series by accident and this is the first book that I have read in from its contents. I am impressed with the ability of this writers ability to pull you in right away. Good characters and great storylines while drawing out emotions as you read the book. This book has Tom refusing to help his brother, Anthony, yet again get out of the mess he's gotten himself in again. But the following morning a phone call changes everything.
Read to learn what Anthony has gotten himself into and how they plan to fix this issue.
I personally will be going back a reading this series from the beginning. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
You are back with Tom Rollins and he is still with his girlfriend. This time though the story takes a different turn that evolves his family when his brother who is in Chicago needs help. Tom does not want to go there but is forced in a way because their father has decided to go. The brother has gotten himself into trouble with a gang which is at the beginning of the story and by the time you get to the end I am not liking his brother at all especially how he treats his girl. A fast story at times with many characters. Is a good book for the series. I received this book from Netgalley.com
I would have given this book 5 stars along with the others... Untill I read the last page an the $250,000 cliff hanger. That was a disappointment. There could have been a few other ways to end the book that had me itching to read the next one. Anthony's taking the quarter million dollars from his girlfriend that Tom gave her to give to his gang was flat out annoying and not what I expected. Other than that, enjoyed every page and I'll still continue the series.
I don't know why I keep reading this series. I mean I do know. I haven't found a replacement yet so I can chuck this shit into the garbage. It hasn't been good in a while. Unnecessary narrative protraction and moronicism at its finest.
Yup. This is the book that killed this series for me. You are a terrible writer and I am an idiot for having put this much time into your bullshit.
Letting a civilian scream and run away during a covert operation??????
Words cannot begin to describe how infuriating this book was.
This time Tom Rollins races to save his brother Anthony from the Chicago mob, aided by his tech-savvy associate Cindy. While the plot starts with urgency and modern intrigue, weak character development, particularly Anthony’s unlikability, diminishes the emotional stakes. A subplot involving Anthony's girlfriend and her son feels unnecessary. And some action sequences drag. Making parts of the story tedious. The ending fails to deliver a satisfying payoff.
Loved this one. Tom Rollins is trying to put down roots when his father shakes things up and forces his hand into helping his brother get out of big trouble with a Chicago gang. Fast paced and action packed, I was hooked and read it in a couple of sittings. Not sure whether I love or hate the end...
Another great read with lots of action and intrigue. It tied in nicely with all the previous books. As always, I enjoy reading books in order. This always allows the characters to develop or if they reappear it is nice to have some background knowledge. A big thank you to the author and from me another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
You know i like to read a series of books, get to know the characters and see them through. I was unsure at first with Tom Rollins, but I've read all 9 books now and I'll be here waiting for book 10 when it's released.
More characters introduced and old characters brought back with more significant roles. A good read and with pace. Still a few stretches but that is what Tom brings to the storyline!
The book was fabulous! I believe it was the best in the Tom Rollins series! I am hoping there is a book #10 to see what happens next in Tom & Cindy's lives.
Short story but a good one. Sure, there are some major stretches in truth and maybe the invicibility of the protagonist is layered on too thick but hot dang it was thrilling.
