Then I see the familiar form of her husband. My ex. The man who knows where my own missing baby boy is.

I know Troy will never admit to knowing who I really am. Not after what he did to me. But I still expect to see shock and recognition in his cool blue eyes when he meets the woman his wife has employed to care for their children. But he simply smiles. He welcomes me into his home.

I’m determined to get the truth out of Troy. But soon I realize I made a terrible mistake in coming here. Someone has been in my room. And the gun I hid under my mattress is missing.

The Nanny's Child is Book #2 in The Lies We Tell by L.G. Davis. I read the 1st-book, The New Nanny, earlier this month and found it to be suspenseful and highly addictive.

At the end, there was still so much left to explore involving our main character, the nanny, Christa. I bought this book on kindle and started it right away. I couldn't wait.

I have to be careful discussing the set-up of this book, because I don't want to inadvertently spoil the end of The New Nanny. I will say, Christa now finds herself back in the United States with new leads to follow involving her past.

She has accepted a nanny position for Harper and Troy, looking after their twin girls, but Christa's appearance in their lives is no lucky accident. Christa has a motive.

A neighbor, Madison, the ex-best friend to Harper, is suspicious of Christa from the start. Christa seems too good to be true, which pretty much means that she is. Madison begins some snooping of her own.

When their quiet suburban street is rocked by murder, all of the characters are thrown into a tailspin. How could Christa end up involved with another murder and more importantly, how is she going to get out of it?

The Nanny's Child though intriguing, particularly early on, didn't quite pack the same punch for me as the 1st-book. It's unfortunate, because initially I was seeing just as much promise, but eventually it sort of fell off a cliff for me.

The New Nanny was suspenseful and dramatic, beginning-to-end. While this one started that way, it got to a certain point where it felt like the author was just sick of writing this story and ended up wrapping everything up extremely quickly and cleanly. It didn't make sense to me in the context of everything else.

There was a particularly chilling story-line, carried over from Book #1, that provided a lot of the tension for the story, which seemingly out of no where just ended. The character involved in that was basically like, it's over now. I give up. You're free, Christa.

This didn't make any sense to me that such a sinister character would suddenly just fold like that and frankly, I was disappointed that after everything we had been through, that is how it would conclude.

There was another piece of the story, involving a different character, that I felt sort of ended that way as well. It all felt very anticlimactic, after such a strong, dramatic build over the course of the two books.

With this being said, I still appreciate Davis's writing and her ability to throw a lot of twists into her drama. Even though this one let me down a little bit in the end, I absolutely will be picking up more books from this author.

Overall, I'm sad to see Christa go. I wish some of these plot-lines could have been continued on in a third book.

Christa is like that friend you love, who has a lot of great qualities, but just makes terrible, risky decisions all the time. I'm gonna miss her.

I recommend this duology to any Reader who enjoys a fun, engaging, OTT-popcorn thriller. These books can be read extremely quickly, and will definitely take your mind off your own life for a while!

There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that The Nanny’s Child - L.G. Davis’ anticipated follow-up to The Lies We Tell series opener, The Nanny - will thrill you with its ingenious twisty plot.

Before I tell you anything more:
1) This novel is in the running for my favourite psychological thriller of the year.
2) If you are into ‘buddy reads’ this one is the perfect choice.
3) PLEASE do not ruin your reading experience by reading the synopsis. Go into it blind.

Weaving together themes of obsession, murder, and family, The Nanny’s Child centers on the rippling and damaging effects of trauma in one’s formative years. It shows how retribution and uncovering truths become an obsession and leaves readers wondering if the characters can ever put the past behind them. The wake of secrets makes it difficult for the truth to be set free. Will obsession lead to the characters’ downfall? Can these people finally put the past to rest?

You’ll be absolutely gobsmacked as this character confronts devastating secrets about a traumatic past and you’ll will be watching over your shoulder, aware of every noise, when the paranoia and tension ramp up. You’ll be physically and mentally drained but will close the book knowing you’ve got a masterpiece of plotting in your hands.

L.G. Davis - THIS. IS. PHENOMENAL. It has more twists than a pretzel factory and is so much more deliciously wicked and secretive. It’s addictive and ingeniously plotted. I’ve never read anything so well orchestrated and had so many questions floating through my mind as I read. You had me creeped out and tensed up. THANK YOU.

Do you have to read book one? I don’t think so, but you’ll have more continuity and understand the motives better if you read it first.

Anything I thought could be improved? As perfect as this was, I thought the ending could do with a tweaking and the synopsis could be rewritten.

Go secure yourself a copy immediately. This is L.G. Davis at the top of her game.

I read this with a friend (@SabiReads) and the whole experience of sharing every chapter made this a stellar reading journey!

I was gifted this superior read by Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

L. G. Davis' The Nanny's Child is the second book in The Lies We Tell Series. Having read the first book in the series, I was even more drawn to this one. Davis' storytelling abilities are truly remarkable, making The Nanny's Child an unforgettable journey into the depths of the human psyche.

Christina is looking for her teenage son who was taken away from her as a baby. When Christina begins working as a nanny for Troy and Harper Wells, her decision to accept this job allows her to nanny twin 9-year-old girls while staying home with her own infant girl, Heather. As she gets to know the family better, she hopes to uncover clues to help her find her long-lost son, but can she find the answers she seeks?

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sharing this book with me. One of Davis' captivating writing traits is that she dives deep into her characters. She gives them a complex backstory that adds suspense to the plot. Her attention to detail and narrative weaving make The Nanny's Child a gripping psychological thriller.

The Lies We Tell #2

I look up at the beautiful woman with perfectly painted red lipstick standing on the front steps of her grand Victorian house. Harper already trusts me to take care of her twins, believes the lies I've told her about where I've come from and how many other mothers have welcomed me into their homes. Then I see the familiar form of her husband. My ex. The man who knows where my own missing baby is.

This book starts off where the first book, The New Nanny, ended. Christa is still looking for her son who was taken from her at birth. This book is just as gripping as we uncover more secrets and lies. The story is told from multiple perspectives. The characters are well developed, believable, but not all likeable. A character from the first book makes an appearance. This is a well written psychological thriller that's filled with suspense, drama, and has a fast pace. We get the answers to some of the questions I had.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #LGDavis for my ARC of #TheNannysChild in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fantastic follow up to ‘The New Nanny’! While this was a sequel it could easily be read as a standalone. The author did a great job at explaining details of the first book without spending too much time on said details that readers of the first book would get bored or lose interest. Told in multiple POVs gave plenty of details from different perspectives without giving too much away. As I said in my previous review of the first book L. G. Davis reminds me a lot of Frieda Mcfadden as far as writing styles go, so if you’re a Mcfadden fan you’ll definitely enjoy this book!

A huge thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for an eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. Can’t wait to read more books from Davis in the future.

This is something I’ve not come across: this book and the first book in the series, “The New Nanny”, are being released on the same day. I was lucky to get both ARCs, and I gave the first one four stars. Will the sequel live up to the first?

In our first book, Christa was looking for her teenage son when she moved to Austria and became a nanny. She developed a strong bond with the boy she was taking care of, but things took a turn. We’ll just say, that job didn’t really work out.

Christa is now back in America with her baby, Heather. Now a nanny for twin seven-year-olds, Ella and Leah, she still is on the hunt for her son. She’s still the same woman I enjoyed in the first book - the one who can’t sleep past 5am, who takes cold showers, plays chess, only wears black and in my opinion, always leaps before she looks.

This book also takes us through Christa trying to find the son who would now be 16, and gets into the complexities and drama of the new family she works for. As with her first position, things start out great, but soon everything comes crumbling down again. Will she ever find her son? Will she ever get to relax? I’m definitely now invested in this series, and I’m going a step above and giving this one 4.5 stars!

(Thank you to Bookouture, L.G. Davis and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on September 11, 2023.)

Now this...THIS...is more like it! The first book "The New Nanny" just didn't live up to what I know Liz Davis can do. Everyone was just a little too weird and it just didn't sit right with me. But this is sooooo much better! Others are saying you can't read this one without reading the first but I say you can. While they do go hand in hand, this one is probably so much more better without the first one. You are given all the information you learn from reading the first book but without all the long-winded faffing about. This one is just so much better and is right up there back to Davis' usual tempo and fine calibre.

I dived straight into this upon finishing and reviewing the first book so everything was still fresh in my memory. The only thing you will really get by reading the first book before this one is a vehement hatred for Wyatt. In this book, he turns up and shows his sinister side but you don't get that true evil like you did in the first book. I wanted to see him get his comeuppance as I found him truly evil and I expected to see him under every rock and around every corner, so when he failed to materialise I wondered whether Davis was gaslighting us into believing what he was capable of.

At the end of the first book, Christa gave birth to a baby girl she named Heather, after returning from her harrowing experience in Austria upon discovering that Wyatt wasn't her missing son she believed him to be. However, the bond she developed with him he refused to relinquish firmly believing she was his mother regardless of what the DNA tests revealed. She fled New York in the hope to put as much distance between her and Wyatt but also because of a note that was left in her mailbox. All it had was a name and an address alongside a note which read "what you are looking for is here."

So now Christa finds herself back in Kentucky not far from where she grew up in the cult from which she escaped as a teenager. The name and address she was given lead her to Troy and Harper Wells, but as soon as Christa walks into their home she knows she is looking at a face from her past. Although he goes by another name now, she would know Brett Lawson anywhere...after all they shared a child together. A child she has travelled the world searching for. A child that was ripped from her when she was locked away for being unfit and unstable. When she returned to the community, her baby was gone. A week later, she escaped with the help of Emily whose family delivered groceries to their community a couple of times a week. She owes Emily her life. But she owes Brett Lawson nothing. She is here only to find out where her child is...and then she will leave.

But nothing is as straightforward as it seems. She came to Esterford and garnered the position of nanny to Troy and Harper's seven year old twin girls Ella and Leah. The family dote on her now six month old daughter Heather who she takes with her whilst nannying the twins. She didn't want to but it isn't long before Christa begins to become attached to the girls and her new life with the Wells. Harper and Troy and the perfect couple, so obviously in love. And they go out of their way to help others, sprinkling kindness and compassion in their wake. They almost seem too good to be true if Christa hadn't seen it with her own eyes. And you know what they say - if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.

And then there is the proverbial fly in the ointment. Wyatt, you may ask? Well, yes. But someone a little closer to home in Esterford in the form of neighbour Madison Baker. She watches Christa from her window daily as she goes to and from the cottage on the lake that the Wells' have made available for her and Heather. Madison is sure Christa is hiding something and is up to no good and she is determined to find out what. Harper is like a sister to her, her soul sister, and she would do anything to protect her. And if that meant uncovering what their new nanny was up to, then so be it.

But like all good domestic and psychological thrillers, every character is hiding something. We know what Christa is hiding and we're with her all the way, but what about everyone else? Is Troy who Christa believes him to be? Is Harper really whiter than white? And as for Madison...what is really her agenda here? And then there is Wyatt. Like a bad smell he lingers in the background refusing to go away. Is he really determined to harass Christa forever? And above all, does Christa find her son?

So many questions...and so many answers are finally given. Including to those left unanswered in the first book. This book is waaaaaay better than the first and I raced through it at breakneck speed almost devouring it in one sitting if not for the pesky need to sleep. I left an hour to go to finish today and I devoured it, irritated by the slightest noise or interruption that took me away from the unfolding events for even a second. It's that addictive! Easily one of her best. Do you have to read the first book? I don't think so. In fact, as I said, I think it reads better without the first book and leaving what happened in Austria just as a backstory of "what came before" kind of thing.

THE NANNY'S CHILD is so addictive, so engaging and so brilliant it is easily one of Davis' best. She orchestrated some classic twists that even I didn't see coming. It's so twisted, so wicked and so creepy your paranoia will be ramped up along with the palpable tension. Could it be improved? The ending maybe a little twee but who cares? It has closure. Everything has come full circle and at last there is an ending. Does it need a third book? Definitely not. Leave well enough alone. It's perfect as it is.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.

So many twists, so many secrets revealed in the second book ! I was so sad for what she discovered, so sad for Wyatt and something else too. It was an amazing read for me. If there is a 3rd book in the series, I'd run for it !!

Excellent! Another fabulous book by L.G. Davis! Christa returns from The New Nanny with another crazy, thrilling, heart pounding ordeal. Who can she trust? There’s a career driven doctor, a philanthropist wife, a nosy and intrusive neighbor, an emotionally troubled teenager, adorable children, a nanny with an extremely distressing past and more! It seems many have secrets, so who can be counted on? I could not put this book down, and I’m excited for others to read it too. If you haven’t read The New Nanny yet, I suggest you read that first as some characters reappear - it’s also a fantastic read. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC.

4.5⭐️ rounded to 5⭐️

Christa begins to nanny Harper and Troy's two children in an attempt to find out where her missing baby boy is. But after what Troy did to Christa in the past, will he recognise her? Will he tell her where their child is? As time passes, Christa's gun goes missing from under her mattress but a mother's love knows no bounds and she's determined no matter the cost...

I loved being back with some of the characters from the first book and learning more about them, like Christa and Emily's backstory on how they met and became such good friends. However, only issue is at the end, one of the character's actions begin to not make sense and don't feel like them and I feel like there wasn't enough explanation for the transformation this particular character has as it felt abrupt. I do think they were all interesting and enjoyed learning more about them.

It did such a good job at setting the atmosphere - I could picture how certain characters would feel at times and vivid descriptions which made it easy to imagine the book playing out in my head. I absolutely loved the writing style - it was such an easy read, which I binged so fast. It definitely would have been a book that I would have binged in one day if I had had more time. It truly sucked me in from the beginning and didn't let me go until I finished the book.

The plot was interesting and really painted a background into Christa and getting to know more about her. However, I do think that the main reason for the plot was explained away a little too quickly and the reasoning for her finding the person who could give her all of the answers she needed, wasn't really touched on, which left me with questions.

I do think that this book was a solid end to the series and would definitely recommend not only checking this series out, but also L. G. Davis' other books as they are incredible. I cannot wait to read more books by L. G. Davis!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of The Nanny's Child (The Lies We Tell Book 2) by L.G. Davis. This book picks right up where the other one left off (The Nanny). It is a continuation and explains some of the questions I had after reading the first one. There are plenty of twists and turns in this novel and it makes you want to keep on reading. So, if you have things to do, wait to read the book when you have plenty of time. I would definitely recommend this book. I gave it a 4 out of s
5 star rating but in actual fact I think it's a 4.5. Enjoy it!

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I did enjoy this book but I have to say that the first one had more twists and was more suspenseful. I felt like at times that one was a little far fetched. I will certainly be reading more from this author.

Overall, I felt this was a decent book. The plot was interesting and there was still a good amount of twists to keep reader engaged. Nothing really wow'd me but at the same time, it was good and I was interested til the very last page. I love a binge-able book. This ticks that box, for sure. I really enjoyed getting to see Christa's story continue on and watch things unravel with this new storyline. Also, to read about her with Heather was so sweet.

I did like the first to this series a little more in terms of twists but it was nice to see some of those characters continue their stories. There are some bits I wish were different. For instance, I felt James story fell flat and I don't think the ending did him justice. A few of the other bits has interesting outcomes as well. I just felt more time could have been spent on each of the characters/their stories. I would have loved to read POV from other characters, even if not the whole time. A few random chapter from some of the characters would have been an amazing touch.

I think this book would fall around the 3.5-4 star range for me. I would recommend this series, though. These were fun, twisty, and entertaining reasd.

Thank you L.G. Davis, and NetGalley for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

First things first - this is the second book in The Lies We Tell series. You must read book 1: The New Nanny before going into this one.

Now for the good stuff - This was such a fun follow up to the first book! Although I did like the first one a bit more, this one too had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!

After learning that Wyatt was not in fact her son - Christa finds herself with her daughter in a new town after the events that took place in book 1. This time around - she becomes a nanny for a man named Troy and his wife. Troy knows her, but for some reason is keeping her secret...

This psychological thriller deals with topics of cults, obsessions, suspenseful situations that make your heart POUND, and very complex emotions.

If you love books that keep you on the edge of your seat, and want to dive into the minds of characters - this one is for you!

This follows on from book 2 (you cant read it without reading the first one) this answers so many questions and well that was an interesting twist . Not sure on the availability of DNA tests a few years ago but apart from that really worked and was an addictive read. I finished book 1 and immediately had to go onto book 2 so there was my evening gone it was that good.
I wasn't sure about the hype of these books before reading them as often with them I am disappointed - but really wasnt and it does live up to it.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and Bookouture but the review is entirely my own.

The Nanny's Child by L.G Davis is the second book in the new The Lies We Tell series and this was no different, an excellent book, especially as it was a continuous from the last book. I ended up reading it on one day. I was gripped from the beginning till the end especially as it had great twists and turns and another good storyline.

I am looking forward reading more books from the author. I just love the way she writes and all her characters are excellent.

I loved The New Nanny and I was so pleased I'd been accepted to read this advanced copy of the sequel. I actually preferred this 2nd book. I would advise reading the first book.
It's a great mystery novel, Christa is still trying to find out what happened to the baby she gave birth to many years previously and is now working for another family to gain the truth.
It's a definite page turner.

A completely hooking continuation that will leave you wanting more.
Christa is still looking for her son.
She is now working for a new family.
Still lying about her past.
Determined to find out her truth.
Now it’s time for her revenge.
More suspense, more twists, more intrigue, more fun and more entertainment.
A great sequel.
A roller coaster of a ride.
I was completely consumed from start to finish.
Fast paced, enjoyable, engaging and dramatic.
And there’s definitely room for another tale.

A great continuing story from the first book.
Found some parts and bit overkill going through things that happened in book 1. But I can see why if it's read as a standalone by some they would understand the story better.
Overall an enjoyable read. With a satisfying ending.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read "The Nanny's Child" in exchange for my honest review.

This book is the follow-up to "The New Nanny" and continues the story of Christa and Wyatt. Christa is now living in Esterford, Kentucky and working as a nanny again. This time for Harper and Troy Wells and their 7 year old twins Leah and Ella. Christa at this point has a 6 month old daughter named Heather. Her father James is in prison in Austria. She told Harper that her husband had died and left her homeless and in debt. Harper being a good person gave her the nanny position and lets her live in a guest cottage with Heather. She has given her many high-end baby items that she is no longer using.

Madison lives across the street from Harper and she doesn't trust the new nanny. Why did Harper hire a nanny who has a baby, why did the old nanny leave so abruptly, why is Christa here? She spies on her and takes pictures to prove to Harper that the nanny is up to no good. She has an unhealthy obsession with Harper - as a designer she is able to replicate Harper's clothes, her coat - she wants them to be "twins".

Christa is still trying to find her son. She was sent a note that said that Troy might hold the answers that she was seeking. She knows that she can't afford to make the same mistakes that she made in Austria. Everything there ended very badly. She is convinced that Troy is really Brett Lawson and the father of her son.

Wyatt is fixated on Christa, he's convinced she's his real mother, even though a DNA test proved that he wasn't. He's slightly unhinged and dangerous to those around Christa. All Wyatt is, is a very disturbed teenager who is also a murderer who killed his previous nanny.

Christa finds Madison in the house and she wonders how she got in. Especially when Ella tells her that their mother told them not to talk to Madison ever again or take any gifts from her. But if they are not friends anymore, why does she still have a spare key? Madison has also hired a private detective to find information on Christa.

Christa follows Troy to a prison where he says he helps out on occasion as a doctor. But really he's visiting his brother Drew - Brett had a brother Drew and the pieces start falling into place for Christa. Many clues point back to the Bluefort Cult where Christa was forced to marry Jonas Lawson the cult leader. Jonas was a child molester. Brett was his son. When Christa had her son, she was declared dangerous and locked up while her son was taken away.

When there is a mysterious death on the street and Christa's scarf is found next to the body, she immediately suspects Wyatt but was it him?

There are brilliant twists and turns at the end. Christa is in danger from someone that the reader would not have been expecting. We also find answers about what really happened to Christa's son.

Book Title: The Nanny’s Child
Series: The Lies We Tell #2
Author: L. G. Davis
Publisher: Bookouture
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pub Date: September 11, 2023
My Rating: 4 Stars
Pages 267

This is the second in L. G. Davis' ‘The Lies We Tell Series’. When I finished reading The New Nanny my comments were
This story turned out so much better than expected. It truly was a page turner!
The ending left me wanting to read more from Liz Davis! In fact, I immediately put "The
Nanny’s Child]" Book #2 in ‘The Lies we Tell series on my TBR list!

If you read “The New Nanny” you know Christa is looking for her teenage son who was taken from her at birth when she was a teenager. She was told her baby died. She later discovered he was adopted. She finds a family who has a teenage son Wyatt she believes is her son – however that was not the case.

This story picks up approximately six months after baby Heather is born. Also reveals a lot about Christa’s past- we find out that Christa was living in a commune when she gave birth and yes her baby was taken from her.
She continues to search for her son and follows an anonymous tip to Kentucky as the note states “What you are looking for is here. She is able to secure a nanny position with Troy and Harper Wells who have nine year old twin daughters. She has been a live-in nanny before but never had her own private cottage which will allow her to care for her infant daughter..
It turns out that Mr. Wells is someone she knows.

There is a lot more in this story than in the first one so I don’t wants to give it away.
I did love “A Letter From L.G. Davis’ where Liz the author tells us that it was a joy to continue Christa’s story and help her find closure as well as find peace in her chaotic life !
I have to admit I was hoping for “The Lies We Tell #3

About the Author:
L.G. Davis (Liz Grace) creates fast-paced, unpredictable, twisty-turny, psychological thrillers set in small towns. She strives to create characters that feel so real that her readers would want to meet them in real life.
Yep! There is no doubt I will read this author again.

The second book in the series and whoever said sequels aren’t as good definitely were not correct for this second book. 5 star rating completely and utterly well deserved.

Life has changed immensely for Crista since she left Austria and the Mayer family. She is back in America and also a mother of a 6 month old baby girl, Heather. However, she still feels that she can’t rest until she finds out where her stolen baby boy is. She seeks out the one person who can give her the truth, Brett, the baby’s father, but Brett has made a new life for himself far away from his and Crista’s history when they were younger. He is now married to Harper, has changed his name to Troy and has two twin daughters, Ella and Leah. Crista is desperate for information and so engineers a way into Brett’s life by acting as a nanny to the twins for Harper and him and is hopeful she will get the chance to talk to him and find out where her baby boy now is. However, Christas mission to get to talk to Brett runs into difficulties when nosy neighbour and ex friend of Harper, Madison, makes it clear she doesn’t trust Christa and starts to investigate her, plus Wyatt, (the teenager from the previous family she nannied for) also turns up out the blue and is determined to scare her and make her accept him as her son using any and all possible methods. Christa is running out of time to find out the information she needs from Brett as the truth and her lies are quickly catching up to her. Will she finally be able to find out what happened to her baby boy from Brett, or will she have to run away before she is found out and carrying on living her life forever with a little piece of her heart missing?!

Well, well, well this truly was better than the first one of the series, although the previous book was really good too this one definitely eclipses it. I was so excited to begin this one and it didn’t disappoint. I got into the story a lot faster than the first book and I really enjoyed hearing a lot more about Christa’s history as in the first book it was mainly only alluded to but not really described. As I have said in previous reviews, I can tell how good a book is when I start getting frustrated about life getting in the way of reading and with this one it definitely happened. I wanted everything to go away so I could just read read and read.

Ultimately a great sequel from LG Davis, it’s not often a sequel surpasses the first book, but it did in this case. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers, you will not be disappointed!

Thank you to NetGalley, L.G Davis and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book for me to review.)
*********************************************************
I’ve always had the urge to look after other people’s children. To pour care and love into their lives, because I know what happens when you don’t. There are terrible people out there, who have been neglected and hurt and want to see the world burn. You don’t want people like that in your home…

I look up at the beautiful woman with perfectly painted red lipstick standing on the front steps of her grand Victorian house. Harper already trusts me to take care of her two little girls: believes the lies I’ve told her about where I come from and how many other mothers have welcomed me into their homes. Then I see the familiar form of her husband. My ex. The man who knows where my own missing baby boy is.

I know Troy will never admit to knowing who I really am. Not after what he did to me. But I still expect to see shock and recognition in his cool blue eyes when he meets me: the woman his wife has employed to care for their children. But he simply smiles. He welcomes me into his home.
I’m determined to get the truth out of Troy. But soon I realize I made a terrible mistake in coming here. Someone has been in my room. And the gun I hid under my mattress is missing. Troy thinks he can scare me away. But if he won’t tell me where my son is, he has no idea how far I’ll go to get revenge…

This is the second of two books that come out the same day in the series The Lies We Tell and it will make you question exactly who you have looking after your children! (Or whose children you are caring for!) Troy is quite the character (I am being nice: there are many words that I wish to use to describe him that would be inappropriate to name here) and our nanny, Christa, from the first book, continues to be duplicitous and you really wondered what happened back in Kentucky…. oops spoiler. And with Wyatt's return, one wonders what insanity will happen next.

Christa is definitely not Mary Poppins and Wyatt is not a Banks. Perfect for fans of thriller books, I will recommend this and its prequel to my patrons without reservation. PLEASE WRITE A THIRD, FOURTH, FIFTH…..ETC. book!
… I look forward to going back and reading the authors. Previous novels via Kindle Unlimited. You should too.

The nanny’s child is the second book in this series however it could be read as a stand alone if that’s how you wanted to read it as enough insight from the previous book is given to help you understand the plot, however in my opinion I’d say it’s definitely worth reading the new nanny first as I think you will get more out of this book.

Christa is determined to find her son, who she was separated from as a baby, and she thinks she may have found the man who can lead her to her son. However Christa comes to Harper and Troy’s home to look after their children with more than one intention.

Christa believe Troy could be the one person who leads her to her long lost son. Complications soon appear as one of Harpers neighbours has suspicions about Christa and isn’t convinced she is who she says she is. Determined to find out the truth about the woman who as been hired by Harper and Troy as their new nanny a private investigator is hired to dig into Christas past, where shocking truths are uncovered.

Christa has also been followed by a ghost from her past, Wyatt. Whom she hoped to never see or hear from again, however when Wyatt turns up Christa fears for her own safety and that of her new baby. Wyatt is a loose cannon and could be about to blow Christas whole world apart.

Will Christa get the answers to her questions before events turn against her?

I was lucky enough to get an early readers copy of both the new nanny and the nanny’s child, which are both released on the same day. I gave the new nanny 4 stars as I felt the ending needed something more, which I think is exactly what I got from the nanny’s child. I’d definitely recommend reading these books one after the other as that may compensate for what I thought was quite an abrupt ending of the first book with some unanswered questions. And now I’m hoping that there will be a third book, however at the same time if there isn’t I won’t be disappointed as I loved the way this book was ended.

Thank you to NetGalley the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for this review.
