I have to say that I pretty much blame my mother for all this. If my dear Mum wasn't an avid reader of romance, then I might not have fallen in love with romance novels myself. And then I wouldn't have decided to write my own romances. Thanks Mum!

Of course, I never thought it would take me 20 years before I saw my first piece de résistance in print. Perhaps I wouldn't even have tried, but you know, I think I still would have reached for my dream. Romance novels offer such wonderful affirmations about love and relationships that I can't imagine not wanting to share my stories with others.

I currently live in Melbourne, Australia but over the years have travelled to New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. In my own backyard, my husband’s job ensured we saw the diversity of the countryside, from the tropics to the outback, country towns to the cities. I find it very fitting that I sold my first manuscript on January 26th 2006, which is Australia Day in my country.

Since that fateful day I have had 12 books published, selling almost a million and a half copies worldwide in as many as 17 languages. I'm also published in short stories worldwide in national magazines.

I am married to Geoff, who has proven his hero status many times over the years. We have two handsome sons and an assortment of previously abandoned animals.

I'm always happy to hear from my readers. For me, it really is a pleasure to be here.

My goodness, what a read! It was excellent. It's just the kind of book to pick you up if you're in a bad mood. Cassie, a radio talk show host, is set up, pure and simple. When the sex therapist she was supposed to interview decides not to turn up for a show, the producer sends in a substitute. Cassie believes that she is interviewing a man who treats sex as an academic pursuit and who is practising celibacy on an experimental basis. What she gets instead is Zac, a red blooded Aussie male. He responds to Cassie's questions with witty one liners leaving her, not to mention the Chicago radio audience, absolutely stunned. But Cassie is not to be outdone and her responses to Zac's rapartee soon has the radio audience in splits. The sparks fly, the airwaves sizzle and forget reality television, the reality radio show of Cassie and Zac's romance becomes the talk of the town.

But there are perils on the way. Both Cassie and Zac have every reason to be cautious in relationships as they were both left in the lurch by their exes. But those exes are now on the periphery of their lives and threaten to cause trouble out of jealousy. of the airwave romance. So this book will keep you in suspense to the very end.

The love scenes are tender, realistic and yes very hot. Maxine Sullivan is a sensitive writer who is more than up to the challenge of depicting the spark, sizzle and sometimes uncertainty of a new and growing relationship and she can write hot and spicy when required. But for me, the USP of this novel were the radio scenes. Cassie and Zac and their radio show are pure magic together. So readers, if you're looking for a romance novel which will charm you, intrigue you and make you laugh out loud, pick this one up. You won't be sorry.

NIGHT TALK by author Maxine Sullivan is a 2013 release from Escape Publishing.

Cassie King hosts a night time radio show and invites Australian hunk for an impromptu chat. Or rather the hunk, Zac Ryan gets roped in. The audience goes wild and their rating is sky high.

Now her directors want Cassie to keep Zac on her show for a week. Would Zac agree? Zac has his own agenda, would Cassie agree to his terms?

NIGHT TALK is a fun, entertaining, sexy and romantic story. It’s a delightfully fast-paced and feel-good romance that sparkles with mesmerizing emotion and intense passion. I loved the fast come-backs and the sassy snappy dialogue!

This review, and many other can be found on my blog, My Written Romance.

I loved the idea behind this book - hot Aussie sparky* on holiday gets roped in as a guest on a radio show, and ends up creating waves with the audience and making sparks with his co-host.

Night Talk was a fun romance which I quite enjoyed reading. There were a few minor details I didn't quite get but it was still a great read.

Zac is dragged in to replace a missing guest on Cassie's radio show. At first, Cassie isn't aware of what is going on, but their banter and unmissable chemistry creates a real stir with listeners who are soon begging for more. Soon their sizzling on-act repartee translates into a hot and steamy off-air fling. But the ever-present spectre of exes and Zac's limited time in the country certainly put a dent in what could become a great future.

I liked Zac and Cassie as a couple. Their electric connection and witty banter made it oh-so-east to imagine their attraction as a real thing. The sexytimes were equally hot and added to their relationship rather than being put there to make up word count.

I didn't quite get the amount of time spent in the point-of-view of Cassie's ex-husband. The parts told from his perspective were important in setting up the story, but there could have been a few less pages of him.

Things did tie themselves up nice and neatly, and it was reasonably easy to see from early on how it would do so. But, to be honest, this didn't bother me. This was fun and sexy, and a very enjoyable read.

My rating: 3.5 out of 5

Note: I was provided with an advanced reader copy of this book by Escape Publishing, an imprint of Harlequin Enterprises Australia via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

* In case you are wondering, a sparky is an electrician. Australians often have different ways of describing things.

Title: Night Talk

Series: N/A

Author: Maxine Sullivan

Genre: Romance, Literature/Fiction (adult)

Blurb: When Zac Ryan is roped into replacing an absent guest on a Chicago radio talk show, he decides to have some fun. After all, he's Australian, on vacation, and fellow host Cassie is something else. So when their chemistry burns up the airwaves, it’s a no-brainer to come back for a few more shows.

But the difference between Cassie’s sexy on-air personality and her prickly, professional off-air self makes Zac wonder which side of her is real — and whether he’s the man to find out.

Thoughts: For me, the book was a bit slow getting started. The book had them really being attracted to each other right from the start - so much so that they extend Zac's stay on the show. But for me you just didn't "feel" the chemistry. Their on-air banter also progressed more throughout the book, so much so that you began to look forward to the moments when they were "on" - teasing everyone with their innuendos and comments.

Cassie's pain from her prior relationship, and her wariness of making another mistake, really came through. And Zak was just a really good guy that really worked to win her over. There were a few appearances of Cassie's ex-husband (told in his POV), which really didn't add or take away anything to the storyline, at least for me. Although, I was glad when his new "fiancé" found him out as the liar he really was. And the added addition of Zak's ex-fiancé rather annoyed me, because it was obvious from the get-go what game she was playing.

All in all, the storyline was a bit predictable, but it was a nice romance.

Rate: B

Cassie King is the host of a night time radio talk show with different guests most nights. One night her guest could not make it at the last minute so her producer nabbed a visiting Australian man, Zack, to fill in. Nobody told Cassie that he wasn't the sex therapist she expected so she asked the questions she had planned. It turned out to be an hilarious show and the listeners loved the banter between Cassie and Zach, sending their ratings through the roof. The producer asked Zack to continue with the show for another week so the ratings would continue to go up.

Night Talk was a fun, fast-paced story with a romantic side that I loved. Cassie's character was well developed giving us a look at her history with her ex-husband which made us understand why she didn't want to get into a relationship. Zack was a patient, gorgeous Australian man who felt a connection with Cassie immediately. This connection helped make the show such a hit.

When I won this book in a giveaway I had no desire to read it right away because of the title. I expected this to be erotica and didn't think I would like this book very much but I was wrong. In fact, I really liked it. I liked the writing style of the author very much and particularly liked the way the 'bad guy' was dealt with in this story. I was irritated at how often the term Down Under was used instead of Australia. That aside, I would recommend this book.

Fun and light especially in the witty and sexy exchanges on the air... The love story loses its bite once the radio's door is closed...

I'm a little hard in my review because the synopsis and some of the narrative were pretty good. But, I found the story a bit irregular. The text hangs you up, makes you smile and makes you wait, wait, before finishing smoothly. And it's during the waiting period that I was grinding my teeth!

As for characters, I enjoyed Zac's humor. However, too much shadows still hang over him while I finished the story. Where does he find the money to sign a check for the mother at hospital ? Why does he look embarrassed when Cassie talks about his job?
As for Cassie, she is lovely but I was not really excited by her personnality. I think Adam had some potential as well as Leon.

I expected a fun romance and the author gave it to me. But I've really liked the humor and reparties of the two heros on air. I would have love to find the same animation in the daily dialogues. It was as if some parts were still unfinished...

Maxine Sullivan is another author that is new to me, and I must admit, I loved Night Talk!

It was a fun and humorous read. The constant flirtatious banter between Cassie and Zac was very entertaining, but the story also had it's serious side.

There were quite a few supporting characters throughout the story, but it never came across as too many. Each person had their own role to play within the story of Cassie and Zac.

There was a lot of drama going on towards the end, and it had me second guessing whether Cassie and Zac were actually going to get their happy ending. I was thrilled when I finished the book. So much so that I had happy tears!
