I think Justin’s Lessons are great. You honestly don’t need to buy this book because you can get all the lessons online for free. So his online lessons are 5+ stars.

When looking at the book by itself, the book is probably a 4 star book. I like how for each song there are little notes on how to make it more complex or information about strumming pattern and tips.

However, something to note is that in each stage, the songs included are songs that you should be able to play at the stage, not songs that necessarily help you practice the skills you learned in that stage. For example you learn the B7 chord in stage 4 but none of the songs in stage 4 contain B7. It’s something small that should be noted.

Anyways, if you are learning guitar seriously (because you want to become good at it) time is probably better spent practicing techniques.

However, if you are a beginner just playing guitar causally for fun (which is what I’m doing), this book provides a good starting point to learn to play songs that are within your abilities.

This is a very good book for guitar initiation. The perfect combination with 100 classic songs and beginner guitarists tips. I like especially the rhythm notation which is a very easy way to start learning.
