Brooke Whitman is a woman who has been searching for love in the wrong places. She is a successful career woman who is very indecisive when it comes to love. When she meets up with an old flame at her high school reunion, she goes goo-goo eyes all over again for him except this time she is going to be taken for a ride. Wade Harris is the typical broke dude who wants his woman to finance him and BINGO, Brooke is that one.
After some twists and turns and some bad decisions, Brooke realizes the one who truly loves her and is ready to give her the love she deserves has been right in front of her face all of the time. This story has not only a great plot but character development as well.
I think the author shows us all that we overlook the good things in our life to chase the bad things. The bad things are sometimes what we must experience to truly see what is meant for us. I look forward to reading more by this author. I am and will continue to be a lifelong fan of hers.
This was good. After reading a few of this author's book, I realized that these women are just dumb. I mean you see all the signs that this idiot is just not it. I don't like it takes to the end to realize who is good for you and then put the epilogue in 5 sentences and then the end. Still, it was a good read.
I found this book to be mostly annoying. The main storyline and the main character herself just came off as being pathetic in my opinion. A guy who broke her heart 10 years ago, who she hadn't seen or talked to in that amount of time...and she's still not over him? It just reads desperation in my opinion. The fact that she is depicted as being a strong woman other than that (with a great job, making great money, with good friends, etc), didn't make it any better. Trust me, I understand desperation when it comes to love, but this was a bit over the top and made me lose any respect for the main character right from the beginning. I kept at it, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The writing wasn't bad, the story itself just wasn't very fulfilling for me.
If loving him is wrong, Brooke just don't wanna be right. She's found it hard to find a good man and hasn't forgotten about 'could've been' Mr. Right. She finally gets a chance to reunite, but when she decides to show him what he's been missing all along, she finds she has been missing something as well.

As usual, for a short, Ms. Black gives history to let the reader know more about the characters which also showed development. There was also a satisfying conclusion to the plot. It was predictable at a point but nonetheless a good read.
Sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and that was the case with Brooke. She has a difficult time getting over her first love & high school sweetheart Wade. Even after he broke her heart, she still wanted to give the relationship another shot. She couldn't see that Mr. Right was with her daily because she was too caught up with her Mr. Wrong. This was a REAL read rather women want to admit to it or not. She was willing to overlook the fact that he was using her because she loved him. Mr. Right was there to pick up the pieces and show her just what she was missing.
I liked the idea of friends becoming something more. Definitely was feeling Dr. Z more than Wade. I felt Brooke should have been a little smarter regarding her old flame. He was her ex for a reason. Overall, a great story.
I didn't think I was going to like it but I was wrong. I finished the book in one sitting. Once I got started, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. This is my first book by this author and I'm looking now to see what else she has.
I can relate to Brooke, sometimes we can't see what's right in front of us. Anna Black has written another great read. I enjoyed this book, the characters are great and I love the story line.
Brooke was really making me mad! She was so vulnerable and she was really trying to make herself happy by going back to Mr Wrong! Glad she had to see Wade for what he really was!
