Two men who live and work worlds apart meet and have a hot one-night stand. But… both men are lonely and stuck in a rut, their work consuming their personal lives. Now they get a taste of perfect chemistry, both in and out of bed, and letting that go becomes harder when one night expands to days spent together talking and making love. But the threat of distance and departure loom ahead.
Though from different countries and cultures, Chase and Rico are a lot alike. Both had professional goals and responsibilities that have now been met, but they still can’t really be themselves, even as they push forty. People rely on them, and they can’t take the time to be selfish and pursue what they desire. They ponder about their situations, still ultimately going their separate ways—but longing for the connection they found with each other. Hard decisions need to be made or they’ll be miserable for the rest of their lives.
For a short novella, this is a hot little number. Chase and Rico are manly men, masculine and strong. But in bed they have no trouble yielding to the other, an instinctive trust growing between them. They think so much alike they do belong together. The sex is hot. There are a few repetitive phrases but it doesn’t matter since this story is so sweet. The writing is solid, and we get insight into these men through their inner workings as they contemplate changing their lives, knowing someone will always be disappointed no matter what. I respected both men and wanted them to have their HEA. Recommended read.
