“Double Tap” by Chuck Grossart is a tale of two cops. When the brass decided to pair their top two homicide detectives together, they were sure the results would be remarkable. In a way, they were right. Just not the way they envisioned it.

Conventional wisdom – and television – would have us believe that police officers who are paired together for any length of time almost know what each other is thinking, not unlike an old married couple. But old married couples sometimes get sick to death of each other, and bad things can happen.

“Double Tap” is an interesting tale, because it features a female detective who can see people’s auras, and can infer things about people by the color of their aura. This turns out to be a very good talent to have, when it allows the officer to identify murderers by the black and red auras they share.

Well, I’ll revise that to say MOST of the time it’s a good talent to have. I guess what’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander, contrary to popular opinion. “Double Tap” is a good read, though, whether you’re a goose or a gander.

Double Tap, A Flash Fiction Story by Chuck Grossart I received a free kindle copy of Double Tap, A Flash Fiction Story by Chuck Grossart in an Amazon promotion.I gave this very short story four stars. The Detective in this story can see auras. While she puts a number of killers behind bars, she deals differently with what she calls the 'black & crimson smokers'."Their smoke is a tell-tale signature of their psychosis, as most of them--like the bastard who killed my father, as I learned later--are serial killers. They're driven to murder, again & again, by whatever twisted demons curl around their spies & crawl through their dysfunctional psyches."This flash fiction story was intriguing. Mr. Grossart has honed his writing to a fine art.
