Andy McNab joined the infantry in 1976 as a boy soldier. In 1984 he was badged as a member of 22 SAS Regiment. He served in B Squadron 22 SAS for ten years and worked on both covert and overt special operations worldwide, including anti-terrorist and anti-drug operations in the Middle and Far East, South and Central America and Northern Ireland.

Trained as a specialist in counter terrorism, prime target elimination, demolitions, weapons and tactics, covert surveillance and information gathering in hostile environments, and VIP protection, McNab worked on cooperative operations with police forces, prison services, anti-drug forces and western backed guerrilla movements as well as on conventional special operations. In Northern Ireland he spent two years working as an undercover operator with 14th Intelligence Group, going on to become an instructor.

McNab also worked as an instructor on the SAS selection and training team and instructed foreign special forces in counter terrorism, hostage rescue and survival training.

Andy McNab has written about his experiences in the SAS in two bestselling books, Bravo Two Zero (1993) and Immediate Action (1995). Bravo Two Zero is the highest selling war book of all time and has sold over 1.7 million copies in the UK. To date it has been published in 17 countries and translated into 16 languages. The CD spoken word version of Bravo Two Zero, narrated by McNab, sold over 60,000 copies and earned a silver disc. The BBC's film of Bravo Two Zero, starring Sean Bean, was shown on primetime BBC 1 television in 1999 and released on DVD in 2000.

Immediate Action, McNab's autobiography, spent 18 weeks at the top of the bestseller lists following the lifting on an ex-parte injunction granted to the Ministry of Defence in September 1995. To date, Immediate Action has now sold over 1.4 million copies in the UK.

McNab is the author of seven fast action thrillers, highly acclaimed for their authenticity and all Sunday Times bestsellers. Published in 1997, Remote Control was hailed as the most authentic thriller ever written and has sold over half a million copies in the UK. McNab's subsequent thrillers, Crisis Four, Firewall, Last Light , Liberation Day , Dark Winter , Deep Black and Aggressor have all gone on to sell equally well. The central character in all the books is Nick Stone, a tough ex-SAS operative working as a 'K' on deniable operations for British Intelligence.

McNab's fiction draws extensively on his experiences and knowledge of Special Forces soldiering. He has been officially registered by Neilsen Bookscan as the bestselling British thriller writer of the last year.

Liam Scott just joined the four riffles and is headed back to Afghanistan. on his way to base camp their Chinook was shoot down and they lost one guy- Martin right from the beginning Liam thought something was wrong and it turns out they had a traitor among them someone from the ANA telling the Taliban what was happening and where they were going. in the end they were ambushed and it was Liams chance to take charge.
My favorite part is when they were ambushed at the end of the book and Liam orders everyone to do a bayonet charge and know one on their side dies.
This book was amazing just like every other book Andy McNab has written he writes about war so well that when you read it you are taken write into the action.

I absolutely loved this book, Andy McNab has such a way with words that this book could be 100 pages and you could be satisfied with the amount of action there is throughout the story. I especially love McNab's books because you can tell from how he rights that he has at least some first hand experience in what he is writing weather it be from army training to physically having to use some of the actions within this book to bring down the enemy, you can tell he has a connection to the words that he has written... and it makes the book so much more enjoyable because of it.

Excellent read. Fun, exciting, educational and thrilling.
Read this before reading the first in the series (by accident) but it is so well written and super easy to follow that I didn't feel like I needed to read the first book. Very descriptive story, great imagery which really helps you dive into the narrative. Not as much fighting as I expected. The largest part was left towards the end. But really enjoyed getting to know the characters and getting a better understanding of life as a soldier. Plus, I love the glossary, it was super helpful.

This was the first war book I have ever read! When I was walking through the shops looking for a new book to read, my eyes continuously drifted back to the new patrol through the 15mins or searching.

Was definitely worth a read! It had its pages wrapped around my head! Absolutely loved it!

Similarly to its predecessor, the first half is boring, but the second is amazing. Great new expansion on the series.

Surprisingly for me I am really enjoying this series. The author is excellent as well as the narrator as an audio book.
Just gives you an insight of what our soldiers did in Afghanistan 🇦🇫.

I'm not going to lie, when I saw this book on the shelf in the library I was in two minds as to whether to read it or not. Book 1 (the new recruit) was okay, but in no way had me thinking I would read more of them. However, I liked the blurb on the back and enjoyed both McNab's Boy Soldier sequence and the Dropzone books, so I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go!

I'm glad I did it was the best decision I made! This book was a zillion times better than book one - it was great. McNab did a fantastic job of bringing the gritty reality of war in Afghanistan to life and the storyline in this book was excellent.

I notice that there is now another a book in this set and unlike after reading book one I would now be more than happy to continue when I see it. Nice recovery Mr McNab!

This book was amazing, everything about it. The change of characters and orders in no way set it back, in fact they made the book so much more enjoyable to read.
The way McNab was writing from Liam's point of view was so convincing. Although I didn't know who to expect as traitor... The military banter wasn't forced, and was really lifelike. The plot didn't have many flaws, and the action was explosive. It was a brilliant sequel.
The military vocab is listed at the front of the book along with the ranks. Although I didn't need them much, I can see them as being helpful to readers who don't know anything about the military.
Overall it was a must read, and I want to read more!
