Atmosphere Alert - Seek Pressurized Shelter Immediately

The worst alert to get on the back side of the Moon . When a mine accident in the crater jeopardizes Heaviside City’s oxygen, Earth’s Home Alliance blames it on Resistance sabotage. Joe Drive, ex-Space Force pilot, wants to ignore it all. He’s done with the fight. But a determined widow demands Joe’s help proving her husband was murdered to hide the truth. Joe reluctantly agrees to investigate.

The truth is worse than he imagined. This was no accident. The Home Alliance wants to take over the Moon, and they’ll kill an entire city to do it. The streets fill with armed patrols, the Number 3 Mine goes on lockdown, and Joe and his friends are all over the holoreels as wanted terrorists. The tension on the streets has become a riot.

With the help of a rogue monk, a rebellious teen, a math geek and a strange child living under the kitchen sink, Joe must stop a man who would sacrifice a population as a means to an end. Or, for every soul in Heaviside City, their next breath might be their last.

Ready for a wild ride in space? Read ‘Atmosphere Meltdown’. Trigger Jones convinced me that people live and mine moon rocks on the dark side of the Moon. Joe Drive once again, with the help of the Resistance, takes on the bad guys to prevent a catastrophic event.

Atmosphere Meltdown is the second foray into the world of Joe Drive, and delivers another stellar, action-packed mystery full of unforgettable characters. When the Moon's artificial atmosphere becomes endangered by a dark and layered conspiracy, Joe must dust off his trusty laser gun and get to the bottom of it. What begins as a favor for a friend unwinds into a tense race for the fate of the solar system. Meanwhile, a familiar monk at the engimatic Peter Foundation notices ominous signs in the foundation's future-foretelling algorithms. Can he escape his stuffy, bureaucratic superiors and reach Joe with the information in time?
Atmosphere Meltdown is a seemless blend of genres that glides along like a great action film. Its deeper themes of workers' rights, dishonest media, and social stratification are deftly woven into the narrative and never weigh it down. Trigger Jones has created a lovable and unforgettable hero in Joe Drive, who faces the darkness of both past and present with a hard hand and a caring heart, who doesn't want to save the day, but does it anyway. For the sake of the moon of the future, and for the Earth of the now, we can all hope Joe will keep coming back to save us. Until the next entry, strap in, check your pulse-jets, and give Atmosphere Meltdown a read!

The Joe drive series is an intriguing Sci Fi setting with genuine, real people making it easy to understand the protagonist and his motives. Joe is both a guy you'd like to get a beer with and the friend you'd want if disaster struck. On surface level the problematic situations Joe finds himself in aren't really his to deal with; because of this Joe and the reader are constantly put in a position where they are asked what the "right" thing to do is. Troubled by lack of information we intently follow Joe as he mines away to discover who's actually the bad guy of the solar system. With it's out of this world conflicts confronted by down to earth characters it's hard to not recommend this book to any Sci Fi or mystery enjoyer.

Action-packed 2nd in a series that still stands alone, if you haven't read the first. But you should really read the first. Started the book in the early evening, thinking I would read a few chapters before bed - I put the book down at 5 in the morning, having read it cover-to-cover. The characters' personalities are beginning to flesh out, the setting is growing and becoming more complex, and this all leaves the reader waiting for the next book.
