This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's "Love Has No Boundaries" event. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story.

I am not a big lover of daddy kink and I am positive a few of my closest friends probably fell off their chairs, when they eventually noticed that I read 1209 and loved it. It helped that Henry was a worthy, adorable and twinky character who's sexual arousal had the right amount of sexiness and kink, so sweet. And big daddy Ryan was pretty hot too, nicely strong. I guess it worked fabulously for me because it was shortish *grins*. Although more of Henry and Ryan would be great, I'd love to find out how much more their relationship progresses.

July 11, 2013I think this was a well-written story that will appeal to lots of people who like smooshy, glittery BDSM. Sadly, that's not me, but that is in no way the author's fault.
I find the story particularly interesting because it really highlights the gap (as I understand it) between what people who casually read BDSM for fun want from fictional power exchange relationships, and what actual practitioners of BDSM want from real power exchange relationships.
Fantasy BDSM for casual (mainly female) readers: the top spends hours and hours and hours touching the bottom, making them cum, edging them, paddling them, flogging them, stroking their skin, talking to them, using toys on them, and generally providing the sort of intensive personal services I would imagine take a considerable amount of cold, hard cash to obtain IRL. It's all about the fantasy of having someone devote themselves to your enjoyment of sensuality.
Time spent receiving sensations = 100%
Time spent in service = 0%
In contrast, gay erotica with a BDSM theme often focuses on service, with a healthy dose of humiliation thrown in for good measure.
In no way am I suggesting this book is unusual in the genre, or that this is a poor book. It's really well done.
I just find the descrepancy interesting. Does the popularity of the BDSM genre for female readers (and I include myself in this category) relate to a lack of sensation for readers IRL i.e. bad/quick/ordinary sex? I have no clue, but I'm very curious.

There's some substance with the sex, the two did not have an insta-love relationship. I appreciated the build because it's believable. ;)

Uhm. So. Yeah. This is definitely not my usual kind of romance read. I do read stories with BDSM or Daddy-kink but mostly behind the GR scene (coughporncough) but for romance, those two things are not my choice of reading. I guess I let myself reading this mainly because my friend, Vio, who is not a fan of daddy-kink herself, gave this 4.20 stars. Well, I convince myself to give it a try.
I must say that this story made me all tingly. In a good way.
I loved that Henry was this adorable virgin young man who was just found out that his Daddy-kink. It was worth reading for him alone, as he discovering that he enjoyed the sensation big-leather-Daddy-Ryan gave him. It also helped that Ryan was pretty gentle to Henry. Ryan was not described as one of those cold standoffish kind of Dom. I thought Ryan not wanting Henry to go to his club because he felt that Henry was special as sweet. It helped me connect with the two characters.
The reason that it didn't get my solid 4-stars was because some of the experiences were more telling (behind the screen) rather than showing. I also still didn't get why the super seemed to dislike Ryan very much (was he homophobic?).
In overall, good, well-written kinky read.

Ms. Lister sure does have a knack for writing smut with a heart. I will say, I wish Ryan had been… more. Meaner, edgier, rougher, just more. I mean, the man owns a BDSM club & is an infamous Leather Daddy fer fucks sake, he shouldn't be a teddy bear. Exploring the age play would've been exciting too but alas… twas not to be.
But I'm giving this 3 stars for what are, quite possibly, some of the best lines I've ever read:
Henry has learned of Ryan's status in the leather community & at their next meeting says: “I guess you like leather.”
“Yes. You could call me a devotee.” <---say it's not just me! *hooting, I hooted*

Great Writing..I've read Elizabeth Lister before and I LOVED what I've read. I was not disappointed with this shorty but juicy goodie!

I'm always overjoyed when I come across some book with an inexperienced twinky sub and older beefy Dom. Throw in a virginal MC and top it off with some daddy kink and I'm over the moon. I found all of it in this story but I'd have definitely enjoyed seeing more of the daddy play there. I was also a little disappointed with enumerating way of the story telling when it came to the first experience together after their very first intimate scene. I didn't want to be told retrospectively what happened and how it was. Instead I wanted to go through it and enjoy the feeling of it happening right before my eyes. Overall it was a very sweet and light reading anyway.

It was very kinky and hot novella, and I have to say I’m more than sad that we don’t have a full length novel about these two!!

I really freaking loved both MCs here, Henry’s and Ryan’s dynamic was amazing and the way the met (really sneaky from Ryan hehe) and how things between proceeded, was paced really nicely, even with the short amount of pages we had here.
I mean, it’s a erotica so we don’t have much depth to the story or characters, besides their really hot kinky bdsm sessions. But it was still really nice!
The interactions between them were really awesome. I loved how Ryan introduced our inexperienced Henry into the world of kink and while doing so, he was always so caring and attentive. Ryan might be a leather Dom and might be fully in control during their session, but he actually is really insecure when it comes to other things. I really loved that about him, it showed such realness and made me like him even more.
And Henry is also so precious, he might be a virgin and inexperienced, but this boy definitely knows what he needs and when he likes something. He is shy, awkward at first and submissive but also sometimes a bit sassy, and some of the conversations between them made me laugh really hard.

BDSM are pretty much way out of my comfort zone for reading. Because this one was short, after reading some of the reviews and being told I should try it I jumped in. All in all it was a really good story, I like both Ryan and Henry. I liked how Ryan was taking such good care of Henry, making sure he was comfortable with everything they were doing and was glad that the author let us know that there was a relationship outside of the bedroom. Ryan really seemed to care for Ryan. I think it would have been great if it was longer to really see their relationship.

What a wonderful short story. Thank you. It was just what I was looking for. I really liked how you made Ryan hold out on taking Henry. So many stories, they just jump into the sack quickly after meeting. Also, was happy how you gave Ryan and Henry some depth. Furthermore, the couple of sentences letting us know they did more than just play around and got along outside of the bedroom made me happy.

Rowr! I enjoyed this hot and steamy kinky story between Henry and the much older Ryan. I like reading about Daddy kinks and this was just right up my alley. I would have loved to have a longer version of this story but all in all, this story was just wonderful to read.
I liked that the author started by touching on a normal aspect of their relationship and not solely jumping into the BDSM side of things. Even if it was just a brief mention.

Not bad. A neighbor loses his key and Ryan from 1209 picks it up in hopes of meeting him. They meet and Ryan intrudes him into the life of BDSM little by little. All different kinds of BDSM are introduced. Good for a short story.

I really like the relationship dynamics, but I wish the development of their relationship had been shown more. The scenes we got were hot and kinky, so I feel cheated that other interesting visits were just mentioned and we didn't get to experience them.

An inexperienced student exploring his submissive side? Count me in, it's one of my favorite tropes. Sweet Henry was such a needy sub, and so honest about what he wanted. The story was told from his POV, and I loved his voice. Ryan was the perfect Dom for him, caring and experienced. The set up was quite promising, and this story mostly delivered.
Their first D/s scene together was so hot, I was LUSTING for more. This is where the mostly comes in. Almost all of the next scenes were off page and we were only told about them in a brief summary. It was like seeing a bunch of presents under the Christmas tree, only to be told you couldn't open and enjoy them. It was so disappointing. There were a couple more D/s scenes, and that last one was a treat, but I kept going back to that list of missed scenes. I wanted to know more about those scenes!
Still, what we did get was worth a re-read, and I enjoyed it enough to up my rating to 4 stars, letting go of some of my disappointment over what was left out.

4.5 stars - I do appreciate an angst free, sweet story (though not a steady diet) and this one filled the bill beautifully.The writing flowed with never a boring moment and the relationship developed evenly without rushing as is often the case in short stories. Wonderful job, Elizabeth, and I especially loved all the effort you put into making the cover special. BDSM, MM - Highly recommend.
