“How will the world change? What is the key to moving the culture from death to life and from idols to God? The key is to communicate God's will to people in a way that they can understand it and do it. The best place to pass on God's magnificent plan of sheer goodness is in the family. Mission of the Family serves as an excellent guide to equip families so that their change will change the world.”

This book is an excellent intro into the idea of what it means to be a Catholic family. I highly recommend it for those who are just beginning to think about the vocation of marriage or are coming back to the faith and would like a wide-scope view of how Catholic families are called to respond to their vocation. However, there are a heinous amount of typos and grammatical errors and for someone who is already well-versed in the faith and specifically the sacrament of marriage, it doesn’t offer much but a few sweet anecdotes.
The book was a bit rambling but had some true gems in the pages. Acknowledge the holy family's socioeconomic situation and place them in modern times. Now treat others in a similar situation as you would the holy family.
An accurate account of spirituality in the Catholic faith. For those who need a better understanding of good discipleship and how to answer the “ why do we do what we do”, this is a good place to start.
This book was a great reminder of what family truly means and who it all involves. It has inspired me to grow, learn, and appreciate things on a higher level.
Eh. The author says it at the end...there isn't anything new in here. Not that I expected anything earth shattering, but it was bit too preachy and condescending for my taste.
I liked this book. I'm part of the Family Life Commission at my parish, and this book describes well the Family being a Church, and the Church being a Family. More than a few quotes are worth holding onto, but this one struck me as worthwhile when meeting lapsed Catholics: "[J]ust as you wouldn't quit going to your family's meal just because some people are cranky or boring! we can't quit going to Mass because the music is bad, the homily boring, or the priest said something unkind seventeen and a half years ago. We come to eat, and so we should come hungry and ready to do so."
The Family being a small church is important to remember. It is easy to pass off responsibility for my children's education to the priest or the catechism, but kids learn from example. If we make it important and treat as joy, rather than obligation, our children will be better equipped in the faith.
I especially liked the communion of saints being extended family members. I better get to know my family more!
An honest look at the family as a Catholic mission. A nice reminder of how parents can work to promote the faith with their children and their community.
Amazing! He writes for Catholics just like me! I will suggest to my priest that our parish read this book and we will invite the author for a mission. Lives will be changed!
An insightful look at the importance of how each member of the family plays a part in its success as well as how each family plays a part in the success of the Catholic Church.
