...I find it difficult to give an objective review of a book written by someone I know!! Maybe that's not the point either.
In this second installment, I found that the story progressed to my liking in that the "other" main characters that were going to lead us farther into this adventure were set forth. That being said, I still have trouble identifying with them. Character development is difficult to master and I assume it is one skill that comes with time. The character of Zack is a good example. There is something missing for us to truly appreciate (more importantly, care about!!) him.
As for the story itself, Mr. Rousseau is effective in keeping us involved in the story. I am definitely anxious to learn what will happen next. I wish I were being led into this story a little more slowly, however. I am the type of reader who favours longer, more drawn out actions. I found that at times we were bounced around from action to action, place to place and things happened too quickly!!
