Stripping is her super power.

Thirteen years after a glowing pond left Chloe Sanders with special abilities, she uses her “gift” to take out criminals when she can. If she’s got to be part of a freak show, she’s going to do some good while in the buff.

You have the right to remain naked.

Color blind detective, Jacob Greiff, has a few "gifts" of his own and would like to find a solution to his quirks, but his priority right now is busting the vigilante leaving burglars tied up with panty hose and women’s scarves. He wasn't ready for the petite, bare foot brunette in an enormous trench coat at his crime scenes--or seeing her in vivid color.

A match made in nuclear waste....

Despite his own supernatural abilities and the raging lust between them, Greiff wonders if Chloe isn’t some kind of nut who gets off on public nudity. She insists she can disappear from view when naked, and that he’s the only one who can see her when she’s in disguise.

..or is it love?

Their shared past comes to a treacherous intersection when a man shows up at Chloe’s apartment and informs them at gun point it’s time to report for duty—or else. A hero and his reluctant eye-witness will have to come to a truce, find a way to keep their clothes on, and save the world in the blink of color-blind eye.

Great story with a plot different then I had read before.

Greiff is an awesome guy, who is color blind. Not just color blind in the traditional sense. He sees in shades of black, white and gray. So when he see's Chloe in color she stands out in more than one way. He follows her to find out more about her.

"A glance over her shoulder revealed hotness with handcuffs was headed her way"

Chloe is unusual too, she can disappear at least when she is naked. Which comes in handy for her side job of fighting crime.

Two people brought together with unusual gifts. They are joined by a hysterical and offbeat group. The transvestite roommate, the voo doo priestess neighbor, the interesting not sure what he is landlord, and the lucky the sex fiend porn addict computer hacker. Together they embark on a journey to get to safety and find out who and why all these people are after them.

Its non-stop action, with awesome one liners and quips that will leave you laughing, and hot sex that will leave you wanting a cold shower….oh the shower scene….OMG!!!!

This is was awesome book, I can’t wait for the next one. I want, no need to know more about all the characters we met in this fantastic book!

An invisible woman, a colour-blind police detective with a very sensitive nose, a ton of sizzling sexual tension, and a plot to capture them, and you've got one of the most intriguing and entertaining paranormal romance. So different and such a nice change from so many other novels of the paranormal genre. Only drawback was the ending which I thought was wrapped up too quickly, and that the novel is a bit short. Would've loved to have read more. Let's hope we don't have to wait forever for book 2. Oh yeah, this is part of a series.

FYI: there are no vamps, weres, faes, demons or such-like.

Wow is just not enough to cover how I felt after reading this book. It all starts with Chloe who has a super power, not your normal super power mind you, but one that has her cross paths with Greiff. Greiff has his own secrets; well it seems everyone in the book has their secrets. Good or bad. I never knew where the book was going to lead until it unfolded on the pages. I was surprised a few times. I loved the relationship between Greiff, or Jake as Chloe calls him, and Chloe unfold. This book with its original ideas and theme has been by far the best book that I have read in the last few books.
I sure hope there are more in the series. I am excited to read about the others who appeared in the book and catch up with Chloe and Greiff.
The book was flawlessly written and flowed so smooth that I was done with it in less than a day. Ms. James sure knows how to write so that you feel submerged into the world and emotions she weaves. I highly recommend this book. This book was given for an honest review, and in no way affects my thoughts or feelings.

What a great read! I liked that despite the initial animosity between Jake and Chloe, they ended up getting along well. Finding out that you're different from everyone else is a big challenge to overcome, and Chloe had done that with her life and made the best of it. That's the beginning - the rest is quite a tale to read! Loved all the action scences, the intrigue as well. The sex scenes are fabulous! This book was very well written, flowed smoothly and the characters were quite interesting! I can't wait to find out more about Jake and Chloe, Lucky and Dyson. What an exciting change of pace from the lovely Jennifer James.

Wow! Seriously. This book is amazing! The plot is so full of twists that I found myself holding my breath several times. The characters are bright and well developed. I couldn't put it down. Jennifer James is on par or better than many traditionally published authors. I have found a new favorite author to add to the list of Laurell K. Hamilton, Ilona Andrews, and Chloe Neill.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review for Amber's Reading Room.

Have you ever had a friend recommend a recipe to you and when you hear all of the ingredients you shut them down? You think “There’s no way any of those things work together, no way would I eat that.” Then that friend forces the issue, you try it, and it turns out to be one of the tastiest things you’ve ever eaten. “Covert Cravings” is that recipe, I’m the friend, and I’m telling you – YOU. HAVE. TO. TRY. THIS.

When she was young Chloe Saunders begged her parents to send her to Camp Sunny Woods, a special summer camp with glow in the dark water. Instead of coming home with sunburn or poison ivy, Chloe came home with the ability to turn herself invisible and regenerate body parts. Now 25, Chloe decides to use her gifts as a vigilante targeting petty criminals. In her mind it’s simple – get naked, turn invisible, catch crooks in the act, knock them out, truss them up for cops, and watch from the background as justice is served.

Jacob Greiff is a seasoned detective with a background in the Special Forces. He hides his color blindness with a super sense of smell. Greiff is a human blood hound, once he catches a scent he can track a person anywhere in the world. At his latest crime scene Greiff catches a whiff of Chloe and when he tracks her down he’s shocked to realize 1) she’s naked and 2) he can actually see her in full color.

Chloe doesn’t understand how Greiff can see through her abilities and she’s even more confused with the instant lust that sparks between them. What she does know is that she’s been monitored by a man called the Professor for years and if he feels she’s been compromised he’ll lock her up in a lab faster than she can blink. To protect herself she knows she has to hit the road, but not before hitting the sheets with Greiff.

“The most she could hope for at this point in her relationship with Greiff was a quickie to remember a hot-ass cop with a five o’clock shadow and the inability to color coordinate. Not a bad memory to take with her.”

What follows includes a voodoo priestess, a cross-dressing double agent, a lecherous computer hacker, a centuries old alligator man, gun fights, a boat chase, government conspiracies, scientific breeding experiments, and several scenes of major hotness. The bedroom scenes between Jacob and Chloe had me covering my eyes and reading through my fingers.

I confess up front I’m a wee bit of a sci-fi nerd. I grew up loving the quirky X-Files episodes and Supernatural is one of my favorite TV shows ever. “Covert Craving” reminds me of both shows. In theory this book should be over the top ridiculous, but author Jennifer James makes everything work. Chloe and Greiff embrace the crazy in a really human way that I think helps the reader do the same thing. The book also has a little bit of everything for everybody. There’s humor, there’s mystery, there’s danger, and there’s sexy romance.

“Covert Craving” is an unbelievably crazy fun read. Highly recommended for fellow sci-fi lovers or those just looking for a great fast-paced adventure. When I rate a book 5 out of 5 it means I would 100% read the story again. I guarantee I’ll be spending more time with Chloe and Greiff. Nudge, nudge – go check this book out!

Happy reading.

As far as Paranormal go, this book is one in it’s own. It’s not like any other Paranormal novels that I have read so far. This intrigued me SO much, simply because I like different. I was literally captivated from beginning to end! That has not happened to me much lately with the books I have been reading, so it was a pleasure to be so entranced with a book that I did not want to put it down. Those are always my favorite! Then again, I don’t like it at the same time lol. Only because I cannot stand when it’s over! There are just some books you never want to stop reading because you don’t want to say goodbye to the characters. This happens to be one of those books.

Remember the saying “This one time.. At band camp?” — Well Chloe had an experience of her own at camp. An experience that made her able to to turn herself invisible.. After years of not knowing what to do with this amazing gift, she has finally decided to put it to good use. She’s basically made herself into an invisible vigilante. Nothing too big, just some small stuff – and she always leaves the perp for the authorities to find and deal with.. Once her own little form of justice has been served. How does this happen, you ask? Simple! – She pretty much streaks; turns herself invisible, catches the crooks, kicks some butt && then leaves them secured somewhere for the cops to find. THIS IS MY KIND OF CHICK! Literally, she rocks my face so hardcore!

Then you have color blind, ex Special Forces, Cop Man Jacob. Holy BaJeebus Jacob is what I call him! In order to make up for his colorblindness, he has a super increased since of smell. Imagine a blood hound, but like 20 times stronger. Once he looks onto a scent – he doesn’t stop until he finds it. So imagine his surprise when he locks on Chloe’s scents at once of his scenes. Imagine his even GREATER SURPRISE when he finds her and he can see her.. IN FULL COLOR! Did I mention that when he sees her, she is in her invisible state? YEA – SHOCKER!

To say that Chloe and Jacob are baffled by these events is an understatement. The story that ensues is full of hilarity, heart wrenching moments, and hot, steamy, throw me against the wall and ravage me steamy scenes! OH YEA, my kind of book! This book is such a fun read. Like I said before, I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a bit of paranormal edge with their romance. You get Suspense, Danger, Humor, Romance and Intrigue all rolled into one. It is def worth the read!

Covert Cravings is the first book of the Project Genesis series by Jennifer James and such an interesting start. I honestly didn't know what to think when I started reading this book, but it didn't take long to catch my full attention. The premise is a bit different from the average paranormal/fantasy books that are out there.

Chloe Saunders' parents sent her to summer camp as a child. They had no idea how that decision would forever change her life. The story told to her parents was that she was exposed to something in the water that changed her DNA. She would now forever have the ability to disappear from sight. Thinking they were doing the right thing they allowed the "experts" to take over her care in hopes they could help her with her new ability. Now an adult, Chloe is allowed to live her own life, but on a very short leash. She does as they say and when they say to do it. After all, she's no dummy she doesn't want to make them mad and become a test subject. The one thing she insists on using her abilities for is to help protect the public. If there is a law being broken or someone being hurt, she strips down and goes invisible. She has this gift why not use it to help those in need?

Jacob Greiff is color blind. This hasn't stopped him from being successful in the military and now as a police detective. At a crime scene he notices a beautiful woman standing in the shadows and he sees her in color. Of course, she gets his attention. After all, he hasn't seen color since he was a kid at summer camp. Chloe insists she can go invisible and she doesn't seem crazy, but Jacob isn't buying it. It's a shame, too. This is the first woman in years that has caught his attention and he finds himself drawn to Chloe and wanting things he never believed he could want.

This book is a series of secrets and intrigue. You never know who to trust and who not to. To make it even more confusing, I found myself sympathizing with one of the untrustworthy ones so much so that he broke my heart. I'm pretty sure he'll have his own story in this series. He almost has to!

Thank you to Jennifer James for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Loved the premise and the characters rocked!! Really great story telling and a new concept in paranormal! It has parallels with Xmen but it is it's own story. It flowed very nicely, I never really felt the pace lag at anytime.

I was all about Chloe from the start! She is smart, sassy and sarcastic! What is there not to love? She was really independent for most of the book. She did a have a bout of needy helpless girl syndrome for a little bit that I am going to attribute to shock. She did rally and get back to her spunky sass fairly quickly. She really had me laughing out loud a few times!

Greiff was delicious! In the beginning when he first met Chloe he was jut along for the ride but when the going got tough he stepped up big time! He is just the type of Alpha guy I adore, possessive but lets his lady stand on her own.

There was loads of story here, almost too much conflict to follow. At one point I was unsure who was following them. With so many bad guys it really was tricky knowing who the good guys are. Super action packed and very fast paced at times.

There were also several threads left dangling that I wanted answers for. I suppose that is to help draw you into the series and anticipate the next book. I am eager to know what happens next but hate the unanswered questions. I am very interested in what happens with Damien, Lucky and Dyson.

There were several steamy scenes!! The first time for the couple will knock your panties off!! Super sexy!!! There were a few more scenes later in the book that heated things up again! It wasn't overly sex filled because there was the whole running for their lives element. I get that, actually I respect that because I get annoyed when they stop to have sex while the bad guys are right around the corner. And when the story is especially strong I do not miss the steamy...much.

This is a new author for me but I am definitely hooked!! I need to stalk her other books as well! Can't wait to read more and see the story progress!

It’s been a while since I have read a paranormal book, and I was sorta excited to read one when I started Covert Craving. But, this one wasn’t the one for me  It was a little too different and odd for my liking. I can see from Goodreads that I am the odd man out on this thinking, and that’s ok. There is a reason there are so many authors out there with different ideas. This one may not have been the right one for me but it may be for you.

Chloe has a very interesting ability. She can become invisible and I must say that that ability would come in handy on many an occasion. But, a sexy and “color challenged” detective sees her when he should not be able to. And not only does he see her, but he is very much attracted and drawn to her. This disturbs and excites Chloe, and sets off a sequence of events that totally confused me at times and happened very quickly. I felt like things moved a little fast for me. I needed a little more relationship build up and maybe a little more time to take in all the activities before SO MUCH was thrown at me.
I had a hard time connecting with these characters in any way, and for me to truly enjoy a story, I need to be able to connect. But, I do have to say that I did enjoy the humor. Chloe is a determined and independent girl and that I did make me chuckle many times.

I do not, in no way, want my review to discourage anyone from giving this book a shot because , as I have said many times, just because it didn’t rock my world, does not mean it won’t rock yours ;)

**Copy of book provided in exchange for an honest review**

This is different from your standard paranormal romance and that fact gives the book an edge no other has. It intrigues you from the start and refuses to let you go. Even at the end you are still wanting more.

For a start how cool would it be to become invisible? Just think of all the trouble I could get into! Oh the possibilities............

The book is full of action and keeps you on your toes for the most part. There are some great action scenes and nothing it as it seems. Not quite sure how your finger nails or heart rate will hold up with this one but it's well worth it.

The scenes flow from one to another flawlessly and this only helps you to submerge fully into the book and completely blocking out what's going on around you. Not always a good thing when like me you have mastered the art of walking and reading.........

I absolutely LOVE the characters Chloe is my kind of kickass girl while Greiff is just your average NYPD detective with an ability to smell you out miles away. I love the fact that the book is told in first person narrative and from both Chloe and Greiff's POV. I love the little one liners that are thrown in here and there.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to seeing where the rest of this series takes us.

So, we have a color blind cop.... and not in the normal sense of the word; he sees the world in black and white (ok, and maybe some grey)... to make up for this his sense of smell is off the charts. And we have a girl who can make herself invisible, but only if she's naked. Strange thing is, our cop can see our girl....even when no one else does....and he sees her in color!
Normally I am not taken in by cop stories...but with a pinch of paranormal, a little bit of romance and a dash of erotica; I was hooked! The plot had enough twists and turns to keep me interested...I didn't want to put it down! We meet our main characters right off and get right into the action. Chloe is witty and doesn't put up with any crap from Jacob. I love their back and forth banter. I was laughing out loud at parts! I love all the characters we met....some took some unexpected twists and I wanted to strangle them and some I would have loved to know more about (what was the cheesecake and pigeon all about anyway??!!).
I can't wait for the next book in the series! I know we have a lot more characters to meet before we figure this all out, but I certainly hope that we get to keep up with Chloe and Jacob.
If you haven't read it yet.... you should.

Where do I start with this book?
It totally blew me away is a good start then add Awesome, Brilliant, Wow and OMG and that pretty much tells you how good I thought this book was.
If you are looking for a well written book that’s unique with Romance/Erotica a bit of Paranormal and some Suspense then I highly recommend this book.
The two main Characters Greiff and Chloe who both have their own unique abilities are so good together I loved the way they bounced of each other and Chloe is so sassy I loved her. I had some laugh out moments with these two and when they get it on its HAWT.
It’s seems everyone from their so called friends have played a part in getting Chloe and Greiff together. They have the Government and the Professor after them and they have to go into hiding to escape the experiments that these people would do to them.
I loved some of the secondary characters like Lucky he is a sexed up character and had me laughing at some of his comments. And then there’s Dyson now this character is intriguing and I hope we see him again in the next book.
I totally loved this book and I know Greiff will do anything to keep Chloe safe I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Jacob Greiff went colorblind at summer camp when he was 12 years old. In the 20 years since, he saw only a few things in color. The most recent is a woman wearing a trench coat who shows up at crime scenes, just observing. He watches her and is intrigued. Someone is acting as a vigilante, and he wonders if it's her. He also isn't convicted she's real.
Chloe Saunders is the woman in the trench coat. She has some kind of gift/curse that allows her to become invisible. She's the equivalent to a X-Men mutant I suppose. Her abilities include regenerating lost limbs and blending into the environment. How? A summer camp she went to prior to her teen years. Now she lives free, but has rules to obey or she'll be institutionalized by the Professor - the man in charge of the mutants.
Together they soon find they're being seeked out by some groups with probably less than good intentions. I loved their interactions and camaraderie. They had fun banter and great chemistry. I enjoyed the story, especially since it's been awhile since my last paranormal type read. The pacing was spot on and the characters are enjoyable. The story sucks you in and you'll fly through it in no time. I found it fun and easy to read.

Jennifer James finds an awesome balance between excitement and smexy fun with this story. Forget the case that Greiff is on, the real focus is his abilities and where they come from. Chloe’s focus is her future, or having one to be more precise. Their chemistry is sizzling, but it’s the tip of the iceberg in their story.

The love scenes are scorching, but also funny which makes it feel more authentic I think. The ending is sweet and leaves you wanting more. What’s in between is full of action, devious and ambiguous characters, and a mystery that keeps you glued to the page. I can’t wait for the next installment for too many reasons to mention!

Full of witty banter and such fun, unforgettable characters, Covert Craving is an awesome read that crosses the genre lines of UF, PNR, and even contemporary. Make sure to grab a copy!

Jacob Greiff is a color blind cop, except when he looks at Chloe Saunders, her he sees in full color. Chloe isn’t normal, she can disappear, but only when she’s naked. So what happens when these two get together? A lot more than either of them expected.

They quickly learn that two separate groups want them and they aren’t about to let that happen. With the help of some equally great, and not so normal, characters they embark on a journey to escape and hide.
Jacob and Chloe have a great connection with each other and that continues throughout the book. They are fun, witty and enjoyable.

I enjoyed reading this story. It was well written, the pace was perfect and Jennifer James once again wrote a book that keeps you engaged from page one.

Wow,loved it, great story with interesting twists and turns, great action scenes, steamy sex and even somethings to make you laugh.

The glow-in-the-dark water at Camp Sunny Woods left Chloe Sanders with the ability to disappear from sight.
While Color blind detective Jacob Greiff smokes to weaken the overwhelming messages his nose sends him. There is the overwhelming attraction they have for each other that they are finding hard to fight, shots fired, running from the bad guys plus other suprises and developments. Book started with a good work up before the action packed scenes, answered some questions and i can't wait for the next one to be out even if its these characters again or we get to know more about ones we did meet or will meet in future books.

What a fantastic story this was. I really liked the main characters in this book & the storyline was brilliant. The sex scenes in this was certainly a fantastic added bonus. I would definitely recommend this & ill certainly be looking out for more from this author:)

I enjoyed the book, it is light paranormal and character are Jacob Grieff and Chloe Saunders, each has a special gift and know that the "gift" was obtained while at a summer camp that was really a lab where scientists created new DNA in the children that were sent there by unsuspecting parents. As adults they encounter betrayal, escapes, love, gun battles where some of the friends helping them to escape are injured also. It is exciting and a quick read, I read it pretty much straight through. If you enjoy stories about humans with above average powers you will enjoy this book also.

Wow, this romance happened super fast - like all within a 24 hour period. And whilst there were some cute/fun elements in the story, the cracking fast pace was a little too much. H & h meet, and it feels like an hour later they're are dry humping each other.
