This is a wonderful spiritual reflection on the Prodigal Son from Archimandrite Vasileios, Abbot of Iveron Monastery at Mount Athos.

Originally published in Greek, it's translated into English by Dr. Constantine Kokenes.

The reflections are poignant, direct, terse and deep. The trifecta of the Father, the prodigal son, and his elder brother are reflected deeply, within the perspective of Orthodox theology. A very tiny set of quotes from St. Maximus the Confessor, St. Isaac the Syrian, St. John Chrysostom and Dionysios the Areopagite find their place sparingly.

A tiny book of 48 pages, but imbued with deep reflections can be a solid Pre-Lenten read for the Sunday of the Prodigal Son.
