Homeless and unemployed thanks to an earthquake, divorced California chef Kerri Masters agrees to head back to her hometown to help plan her sister’s Texas wedding. It must be her weakened state that has her eyeing the neighbor she used to follow around as a child. Her tastes tend towards gentlemen in suits, cultured, and neatly groomed— not a dimple-glaring, giant of a cowboy. He’s big and virile, and makes her want things the inadequacies brought out during her divorce keep her from carrying out.
Connor McCall’s brotherly feelings for the pesky former neighbor disappear when the grown up version steps on his ranch in her fancy clothes and shiny heels. Too bad she’s a city girl, because he has no use for them. Three times he tried to marry one, and three times the engagements failed. He’s not looking for number four no matter how much his body is all for jumping back in the saddle and showing the sexy chef just how it feels to be loved by a cowboy.
Turns out the earthquake was nothing compared to the passionate, force of nature of an unbridled cowboy, and Kerri learns far more about herself, and Connor, than she ever expected. But when events put his trust in her on the line, will he choose his heart or his pride?
It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.
Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.
With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…
Love a cowboy romance ! This is an interesting story, twists and turns, thoughtful people, good friends and community. We get deep feeling characters, and hot sex to round out this excellent tale, Donna Michael's style !! We've met Connor and Kerri previously, with the story of Cole, Connor's brother, and Jordan, Kerri's sister. Connor has had enough city gals, and even if he likes Kerri, she's going back to the city, so why bother. Only, neither of them can fight the attraction. They have ups and downs, and finally a trail ride that cinches the deal. They love each other, but will she stay? Highly recommend ! ENJOY !!!
I enjoyed Her Fated Cowboy, but this book was a disappointment. Much of the book is just the H/h repeating ad nauseum about how horny they are. We get it; do you have to be so monotonous? NO. The story crosses too many boundaries, to the point that it turned me off to any good points the story may have had. I recommend this book only to those who enjoy seeing a shy insecure girl repeatedly rejected, hurt, and humiliated--with her family aiding and abetting, no less. Unlike Jordan and Cole's story, sensitive Kerri wasn't holding her own, and Conner had no excuse, beyond a narcissistic preoccupation with himself. In the first two-thirds of this book, just how many times did Conner give any consideration to Kerri's needs and feelings (hint: none)? The author kept saying he was sweet and charming while writing behavior that showed him as anything but. The parents and sister showed an unbelievable degree of depraved indifference to the hurt and humiliation they manipulated Kerri into enduring. When any sane parent would be doing their best to protect their daughter from a callous lout, Kerri's were conspiring to put her in one social situation after another where she had to suffer in silence, politely interacting with her rejector while shriveling with pain inside. Seriously, if someone called your sister a tramp, drunk, and fool would you giggle about it because it shows how much he loves her? If your daughter came home pawed over and bruised after her date had deserted her without purse, cellphone, money, or ride home, would you conspire to throw them back together? The sickos in this story are just not human, too painful for my taste.
Slap a bridle on that cowboy, because he is corralled now! Connor may resist the pull of sexy chef Kerri Masters, But with his family and friends matchmaking behind the scenes Connor doesn't stand a chance. Champagne soaked strawberries and chocolate ice cream will never be the same again. Oh, my! I'm stealing a line form a friend Her Unbridled Cowbay is a K.I.S.S. novel - Keep it sweet and simple (and sexy too!) Another great read from Donna Michaels
Again Donna Michaels amazed me with a wonderful story. Connor and Kerri had to fight hard for their love. It was worth it. I can't wait to see where Kade and Brandi end up. I also want to see who gets Kevin.
This was the firs of Donna's books I have read. I really loved the story of Connor and Kerri. It was a great cowboy romance story. It was truly a great story and worth the time to read it.
4 star I purchased a copy of Her Unbridled Cowboy: Harland County Series book #2: Connor by Donna Michaels and this review was given freely. A good balance of jealousy, misunderstanding, humor, family, and a steamy but rocky romance with a happy ending. Homeless and unemployed chef Kerri Masters has returned to Wild Creek Ranch to stay with her family thus placing her in the middle of a match making plot that everyone including Connor McCall knows about except her.
This book was about Kerri and Conner, siblings to the first book couple. She is back due to an earthquake that demolished both her home and business. He has many issues with city women. Three have jilted him and moved on. He is not about to open up to her. She has plans to leave again. But what happens when their meddling parents conspire to push them together just like their siblings? Is there a chance that they are going to be more than just friends?
Set in Texas, Donna Michaels second book in the Harland County series, is every bit as tasty as her first novel was. Now focused on Kerri Masters and Connor McCall, the story is fraught with misunderstanding, confusion, and more than a little lack of self-confidence. The story telling is fast paced and steamy. Well done, Ms. Michaels.
This was an amazing book. I knew I was going to like Connor based on his interactions in the first book. He definitely didn’t disappoint.
This book has two people who have been burned so bad they don’t know how to trust again. Connor has three failed engagements and has no plan of a 4th while Kerri is divorced with major insecurities because of it.
While these two were trying to figure things out, I loved Connor’s humor and comebacks. He was always joking with people or flirting. It was very easy to imaging the type of man that would talk and walk the way that he does. He was described perfectly by the author.
While nearing the end of the book during the part that Kerri had to deal with Duke. I was very upset on how Connor dealt with that but I did love how Kerri took action.
This was a wonderful story from an exceptional series.
Well, what can I say about cowboys except... Man, I want my own cowboy!
"Tall, broad shoulders and chest, muscles bulging out from under his red, rolled up sleeves, brown hair, dancing brown eyes and those darn dimples... six-foot-four-inches of Texas testosterone. The equivalent of saturated fat. Tasted good but wasn't good for you."
Kerri Masters is totally right with her thoughts about that wild cowboy she had known all her life. And when it comes to her life there is nothing much left: her restaurant was destroyed, her marriage more lie than truth and her hopes all down. Only her parents are ready to catch her, leading her to leave her California big city life and enjoy a few days away... Weeks at max. Only her family thinks a little different, wanting to keep her around even longer, because they think they know what Kerri needs: a true, stubborn cowboy.
"And, as it happened every time he was near, her body wanted her to chuck reason out to the pasture and ride the cowboy 'til the cows came home."
Connor McCall didn't seriously plan on Kerri sticking around, especially since she suddenly seems too tempting. She, her food and everything about her simply draws him in, but he made that mistake not once, not twice, but three times and is not ready for a repeat, even though Kerri seems to be all too different from what he knows. Over strawberries and country fairs the two might find a way together...
I have to admit that I read this book, only realizing in the middle that it is book two of a series. Not that it hurt me much because (let's face it) we all know how books end, so if book one is Jordan and Cole I would have known at the beginning of book one that they end up a couple. As it was, I really loved book two and definitely will get myself book one now only to catch up. Can't wait for book three and four since Donna Michaels just writes beautifully and I have to say, my favorite scene was with Connor and Kerri in the hay... *sigh*
Kerri, after surviving a earthquake, losing her home, restaurant, and everything she has held dear, has come home to Heartland county, Texas. Her and her sister have returned home to help her parents and regroup. Jordan(her sister) has finally gotten together with he long time crush Cade (book 1). Now with her sister engaged, she wants nothing more that to get back to California and restart her beloved restaurant. Cade and his brother Conner have always been close but their parents and Kerri and Jordan's parents are best friends. Now with Cade and Jordan together, the planning starts to bring together Conner and Kerri. Although Kerri is attracted to Conner, she knows she can't keep up with him and why would he want her? Conner, sees how Kerri has grown into a beautiful women but has been burned in the past by city girls and wants nothing to do with any relationships any more. But parents know what is best for their kids! And when they set a plan in motion, not much can get in their way.
I truly enjoyed both book 1 and 2 of this series. Both stories made me laugh, cry and angry at the guys for being ...the guys that you end up falling in love with. Misunderstands galor, and love that is just waiting for 2 people to come and face it. You know Kerri and Conner are going to get together but the ride along the was was wonderful. Ms Michael's is fast becoming a favorite of mine. If you love a good romance, with some mild sex, LOTS of tension, great story and even a few laughs and a few tears this is a story you must read.

Really love this Harland County Series! Kerri Masters (chef) and Connor McCall (Cowboy) watched their parents play match makers with their siblings Jordan and Cole and now that they are getting married. Kerri and Connor agree they want no part of being set up by their parents. Kerri feels inadequate after her divorce from her cheating husband and Connor has been burned by 3 fiances. All Kerri wants to do is return to LA to restart her life after the earthquake took her home and her and Jordan's restaurant, which landed her back in Texas. The family's match making starts with Jordan and Cole's wedding and then Jordan's idea to start a restaurant in Texas. Kerri agrees to help with both even though this means she will most likely have to remain in Texas close to a year. She and Connor are very attracted to each other and after a few steamy kisses they agree to be friends with benefits. Several miss understandings and bull headed thoughts cause them to run from their true feelings of love. Kerri receives an offer to be a top chef at a very prestigious restaurant in LA and once Cole helps Connor see the error of his ways and realize Kerri is not like his 3 failed fiances. Their love finally become undeniable. I can't wait to read the next book in the Harland County series.
Oh Connor what am I gonna do with you, you're just so hot, "well now, darlin', for a city girl, you've got a heck of an aim," he drawled." Kerri her thoughts are so entertaining, "she found him hot, like a red-blooded male, and he found her adorable, like a box of puppies. Yeah, they were definitely not on the same page." Connor is really charming he's just a stubborn a** at times, "well, for one thing, could you maybe turn around so I don't have to talk to your backside?" he asked, smile evident in his tone. "Not that it isn't a nice, well rounded backside, but right now, I'd prefer to talk to your face." I mean they seem to challenge each other and in that case alone they are just perfect for one another: "You, in conservative boxers?" With a smirk, she ran her gaze up and down his relaxed form, and of course, blushed, but still, she continued, "No, you are definitely a brief man. Fire engine red ones, I think." Dimples appeared while devilment flashed through his eyes. "Well, now, why don't we check?" He reached for his jeans, undid his belt buckle and chuckled. I hope we get Kade's story next because he was a sweetheart in this book as well.
I just can't get enough of Donna Michaels!!! Her stories will pull you in every time!!! Her Unbridled Cowboy is the third book in the series Harland County and WOW!!!! The characters are strong but don't over power the others but instead work well together. Kerri Masters who is a chef who owns a restaurant with her sister in California. But after an earthquake the building was destroyed. So they went back to Harland County Texas to stay with their parents for a while. Jordan decided to open a restaurant up and asked Kerri to stay until it was up and running. And to help Jordan to plan her wedding. What Kerri didn't know was her parents were plotting with the McCall parents to get her and their son Conner together. Conner was a ladies man. He been engaged three times and something went wrong each time so he told himself and others he didn't do city girls. But he silently wanted Kerri. See how they fight the fates, not wanting to get together with each other for their own reasons. Can they break down the wall that surrounds their hearts? This is a beautiful story!!! I laughed at somethings the characters did and cried with the characters at other points!!! This book is fantastic and will to your heart!!!!
I enjoyed this book more that Jordan and Cole's story. I like that Kerri's and Connor had a history, like Jordan and Cole did, but it was more of a friendly big brother, little sister kind of history. Connor's character is my favorite because he was so witty. I like that he always had something funny to say. Although, at times, I wanted to punch him for the way he spoke to Kerri and for being so stubborn. (one of) My favorite parts of the story was when Kerri puts Connor in his pace under the mistletoe at Jordan and Cole's Holiday engagement party. I felt like that was a turning point for them and Connor realized that his feelings might be a little more than brotherly for her. In my opinion, the sexual encounters between the two characters were much MUCH hotter than in book one. THANK YOU DONNA! I don't think I will ever be able to look at chocolate the same way again. I am so happy that I have a new series of hot cowboys to read about. Who doesn't love a hot cowboy? I am looking forward to reading Kade and Kevin's story's. :)
The fun continues in Harland County, with Kerri Masters and Connor McCall. Kerri, who has recently divorced finds herself unemployed and homeless due to an earthquake, so for a while the beautiful chef stays in Harland County to help with her sisters wedding plans. She also finds herself drawn to the handsome brother of her sisters fiance, Connor McCall. Connor is handsome, sexy and definitely not looking for a relationship, after three failed engagements, he is done. Although, he does find himself drawn to the lovely Kerri, he considers her a city girl, which to him means bad news. If you love cowboys, and strong, independent women who are not afraid of a challenge, these books are for you. I really enjoy following these cowboys through their trying times, and love the fact that the characters from the previous books still show up in the next book. Great job, Donna Michaels, love those cowboys and the women who tame them.
I did enjoy this book but I must admit not as much as the last one, it had the same great characters plus afew new ones. This time it's Connor and Kerri's story, Connor has been engaged three times and Kerri is divorced and as a result her confidence has been shaken. This is a book about two people who are very attracted to each other but they fight this attraction with everything they've got, they're fighting against not only this but both sets of parents and nearly all their friends. The story is entertaining and witty, like I said I love the characters and the matchmaking parents I just felt the story wasn't as strong and the constant "city girl" references, yes 43 in total got to me after a while, still a good entertaining read and I'll be looking out for the next one.
Homeless, unemployed and Divorced Kerri Masters agrees to hear to her home town in Texas after a California earthquake. It must be her weakened state that has her eyeing the neighbor she used to follow around as a child.
Connor McCall’s notices his former neighbor when she steps on his ranch in her fancy clothes and shiny heels. Too bad she’s a city girl, because he has no use for them. I loved how Kerri and Connor work through their troubles from their past. They both want a right now and not a future. So when did it all change? The way they both need to open up yet want to guard their hearts is something I can understand. Neither wants to make the first move to build more when a misunderstanding can take the future away. I would love to read more and see where they go.
Okay now dang it. I was suckered into this story because of the first one in the series. I knew I would like Conner. And I did. Here's the catch, some of his reactions seemed out of character and I was disappointed by his reactions at times. this read is a solid 3.75. I love the authors description, the truly paint the clearest picture. I can feel every breath, see every glance and feel every heartbeat. incredibly perfect. I know that the formula for a romance is always the big misunderstanding. The big misunderstanding in this story felt rushed and chaotic and well just goofy. my need for its repair was immediate. I was frustrated that I had to wait a few chapters for the resolve. Now I am struck by Kade. Guess I am reading the next one in the series.
TOO REPETATIVE IT WAS LIKE READING THE SAME CHAPTER OVER & OVER AGAIN. TOO MUCH THINKING AND ANGST FILLED MOMENTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. THE WHOLE STORY SEEMS TO BE NOTHING BUT THAT. I GOT SO BORED, I KEPT CHECKING THE PERCENTAGE TO SEE IF I WAS ANY CLOSER TO THE END (are we there yet?). PAGE AFTER PAGE OF; CHEST-GUT-GROIN TIGHTENING, I WANT TO DO HIM/HER, LUSTY LOOKS & KISSES. GEEZ, ENOUGH ALREADY! I STARTED TO REALLY HATE ALL THE CHARACTERS, EVERY SCENE EVERYBODY PRETTY MUCH REPEATED THE SAME STUFF, IT STOPPED BEING CUTE. ALMOST 60% OF THE STORY WAS RIPPING-TWISTING-LIGHT HEADED-STABBING PAIN-KNOTS-TEARING-FLUTTERING-SHARDS OF HEAT-CHURNING-KNOCKING-SHE’S ADORABLE-GOD YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL-HITCHED AND ROCKING. WHEW! ;{
Her Unbridled Cowboy(Harland County Series Book 2)
Connor was amazing cowboy I sure wish I had met a cowboy like he and Kerri was meant to be happy and together it sure took them to get their it really surprised me that Kerri was a good knife throwing it at some snake on that cattle drive and Connor was surprised to but she cooked in stew and all cowboys ask her was amazing stew and wanted know what she had put in the stew.Connor knew what she did after they ate all the meal up.This is a great book full of surprising read it.Thank you Ruby Miller.
Connor and Kerri grew up together until Kerri's family moved to California. Now her parents have moved back to Texas. She was married and now divorced. Her restaurant and house is gone thanks to the earthquake and she is back in Texas. Connor has 3 exes he was going to marry. He thinks Kerri is a city girl and he tells himself to stay away. Connor and Kerri keep playing games and its getting old. Doesn't help that 2 others keep trying to sabatoge them. She has a chance to go back to California. Will she take it or will she stand up for what she wants?
Wonderful. Great cowboy romance story. Love the sexy old brother Connor. Once again I love those matchmaking parents of Connor and Kerri and their way of developing ideas to make those two fall in love with each other just like they did with Cole and Jordan in the first book. Love the sweet ending. Now they planned to find love for those Dalton brothers Kade, Kevin. Waiting for the next book about Kade and Brandi.
I really love cowboys. The manners, the way they talk and the way they fill out their Wranglers. Kerri is trying to get over a divorce that has left her feeling undesirable. Connor has series trust issues after three failed engagements. Their parents see things differently. When the two of them keep getting thrown together, how long can they deny their mutual attraction? This is a great series, I can't wait to read the next one.
"Her Unbridled Cowboy" (Harland County Series Book 2) by Donna Michaels is a great read. I enjoyed Conner and Kerri's story. This is a fantastic follow up to "Her Fated Cowboy". This book has hot cowboys, romance, passion, humor, interesting and entertaining characters, close family and friends, and more. Highly recommend to all fans of hot cowboys, romance, and series.
Why were the characters referred to by their occupation instead of their names? And, was the author flipping from adult to child throughout? One paragraph the h is talking like a porn actor, the next she's all, oh dang, oh darn, I was waiting for a gosh and golly.
Cowboy romance isnt usually my first choice but after downloading this I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. In fact I loved it so much I am actually looking forward to buying the next installment in the series when its released. A good story with a lot of fun and a few surprises.
Cute story. Picked it up free & then realized I'd already read (and enjoyed) the first book in this series. Nice sweet, romantic and steamy afternoon read. Looking forward to more books in the series.
*There were a few editing/grammar errors, but not enough to distract from the story.
