Henderson Family Saga #16

Where Is the Love

Rate this book
Past trauma can be a beast to overcome, but Jessica Monroe has proven time and time again that she’s up for the challenge. Every hurdle thrown her way, she finds a way to conquer it and keep moving. After landing a successful career, she’s ready to settle down. However, it seems that love is missing in action where she’s concerned. It doesn’t help that she’s slow to express her feelings for fear of being hurt. Trying to overcome the hurt of a failed relationship has left her vulnerable, something she’s usually able to mask. When she runs into a friend from school, she’s reminded of how close they used to be and longs for that closeness once again.

Brixton Lewis has been intentional about everything in life. He’s a business owner and knows exactly where his life is headed until he gets the call that his dad has passed away. He makes the decision to go home and take over the family farm. That responsibility comes with a lot of unknowns. One of those unknown responsibilities presents itself and leaves him in a state of depression and despair. However, running into Jessica has changed everything. She’s the one that got away. Brixton is more than determined not to let her get away again.

When Jessica and Brixton see each other, their excitement can’t be hidden. They immediately try to pick up where they left off, although their personalities are somewhat different as adults. However, adversity rears its ugly head and threatens to ruin everything. Can the two of them focus on the possibilities instead of the problems and make a lasting relationship out of their reconnection?

Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother, has only added to the joys of Monica's life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

Welcome Back Henderson's! I knew Jessica would be a force, and sis was not playin' with these men! 😂 Decklan, well you had your shot and blew it buddy! I know you didn't think Jess was going to forgive that mess, right? Then turned into a whole stalker! SMDH! Ole boy had poor Jess in a funk, cause she loved that fool. Then her comes Nate! Seemingly a perfect guy for her, but the timing is off. She needs to allow herself some time to get over her heartbreak. While hanging with the family at the diner she bumps into her close childhood friend Brix. Now Brix done growed up into a fine-looking man! 🥰 I can't be thinking about Brix like this right? He is my friend, no! But Brix ain't shy about telling Jess he has wanted her for years and is ready to go all out to win her heart. Whew! Jess girl, you got all the men beating down your door. What will you do?

The family in Big City Nome aren't short on the laughs as usual. That damn Storm is just unstoppable with the nonsense. Mayor Storm! Lawd, help us all! 😂 He and Jasper are still going at it like old times, with Marcus right behind Storm as his hype man! Glad to see all the second-generation Henderson cousins doing well, and still close.

My heart broke for Brix, as he learned of all the difficulties that his family left him to deal with. Being a proud man, he was going to try to handle this on his own, without having a clue as to how! Jess was stressing, dealing with Decklan's stalking ass, and trying to find out where her heart would lead her with Nate and Brix. All the while, still hearing her ole raggedy ass daddy's words bringing her down! She had a lot to unpack, thought that love was not in her future, but she was prepared to work on herself. I was nervous as I thought that Brix had messed up his opportunity with Jess being so prideful, and Nate was coming in strong! It all came together as it should in the end. Another great read Miss Monica! 👍👍👍

A Vibe!

Well, it's always good to catch up with the Hendersons. I can count on them to bring love, drama, and foolishness, however a family connection like no other. These second-generation Hendersons are different. Jessica was a whole vibe in these streets. She was playing her hand and had options. My heart went out to her though because Joseph really did a number on her. For a dead man to still live in your head and life as he did tells you how horrible of a person he was alive. He thought he had smashed the love Brixton had for Jessica but it just intensified over the years. Jessica had three men in love with her. Unfortunately, Decklan was too late, and Noah didn't quite make the cut. Brixton was the man for Jessica. He had been her guy for years. I always say the best relationship starts with a solid friendship. Brixton and Jessica had that when all else failed. I was glad Brixton was able to give Jessica the love she had been searching for. She needed someone to truly love her from the inside out that didn't have an inkling of doubt.

Mrs. Monica always gives you that 🔥. You know this book is like any other one plus it's a Henderson story. Storm is always a category five and his offspring are falling in line. The helping hand that WJ and his siblings gave Brixton was unmatched. I love to see and read when the culture is looking out for the culture. Add this book to your collection the Hendersons are always ready and willing to entertain.

It’s not that this wasn’t interesting or that it wasn’t great to revisit the Henderson family. There were elements of this that I think had potential to be brilliant. For example, the complexity of emotions that Jess had to explore regarding her mother which mirrored what Nate experienced with his own mother over his being denied a relationship with his father. Those complex feelings of loving a parent yet also resenting them could have been explored further- especially with Jess and her mother, who we know well from previous books. They could have had a conversation or a series of conversations but while that potential is built, it never comes to fruition. The same happens with Jess’ use of her sexuality as a coping mechanism to look for love which is never really addressed. And so for me, as a character, she never really met the potential of what she could be. I had really liked her in previous books, but here she felt really 2-dimensional and a little wishy-washy. She struck me as someone who needed to spend a little time alone. The love triangle scenario didn’t work for me because I found it hard to particularly care either way because she just seemed there for a good time despite her proclamations of looking for love. I couldn’t tell what it was that Nate or Brix loved about her and frankly I didn’t care who she ended up with. I AM glad it wasn’t Nate though because I did think he deserved better than someone who wasn’t sure of him. Brix was as immature as Jess, so I suppose in the end, it’s just as well. I enjoy the Hendersons and I really liked Jess before this book. I wish I had enjoyed her book more.

Loved it

Jessica had options, and boy were the good ones. I would love to have her troubles for a little bit, lol. It was hard to choose which one she should be with because I loved them both. I understood why Nate felt the way he did about the blessing, I just hate the way he expressed it. Jess was a little unsure of her feelings, but to me it was understandable.
I enjoyed this book so much, and I was up reading in the middle of the night because I couldn't put it down.
It's always a good time with the Hendersons.

Bestie Jessie is a whole movement by herself!

Hype your bestie up! Jessie is that girl! Beauty, loving, kind, loyal, all about her family and knows her worth. She knows what she wants and and what she will not tolerate. Hard outer shell but mushy on the inside once you crack the shell. She wants love but no man that makes her think of her bio dad. She’s not settling and will have you move the hell on up out of her way if you try to play with her. She’s vocal and very clear about what you won’t do to her. She has the men coming back for more but her heart and mind are damaged and she knows she has some work and healing to do.
Brix has a big crush that was secretly hiding more for your girl. They were best friends in school until an old hater started stepping in. Life moved on, he moved away but he still held a big flame for her hoping he’d one day get the opportunity to give her his heart. He has some competition tho.
They’re grown now and the time has arrived. Not a hater in sight! But past hurts, trauma, old ways and pride may get in the way of their happy reunion.
The Hendersons are still that family - successful and thriving. Kids are growing up and the whole family is still a good time ! That Storm is still crazy as hell!
Awesome read!

My girl Jessica was out here in these literary streets choosing 😝! There are rarely characters that I ride with wholeheartedly, but Monica gave me one with Jessica because she was the perfect balance of everything. When I started this book, I was sure from previous interactions that Jessica would be epic, and I was not disappointed.
This read was a well-rounded creation. Monica Walters created a storyline that gave me all the feels. We get to see characters face past tragedies, redeem themselves for past mistakes, learn that having love and loving someone is not all relationships take, and lastly, that good sex is out there yall because... I’m now requesting a dish of both Nate and Brix😏
The Hendersons are a fan favorite, and after reading this book and reconnecting with some of them, they are still standing strong. I need specific characters to have their stories told because they need to find their Happily Ever Afters! Another five-star read by Monica Walters that has me wondering if this woman can walk on water 🤔 because her pen game is unparalleled, and I can’t wait for more in the future!

After You Find Yourself It's So Good To Live!

Monica, Great read. Jessica really got her life together it was so painful watching her go through each phase of her healing. Her hurt ran deep but with help and understanding she learned that to cover up her true feelings weren't going to have do her any good.
Decklan ended up being just what I thought he would. How I love his brother, he didn't uphold his mess. Meeting Mate Jess thought she may have found her peace, I'm glad she realized what her true feelings were for Nate.
When you have a proud man in your life it's hard to see them suffer in silence. Brixton was such a great guy he knew what and who he wanted. Jessica found some more troubling things and she just wasn't sure of giving her heart. Brixton, realized that he needed Jess as much as air and she needed him as well. Their journey was a good one. Jess, had some hard issues to overcome and when she did. Her life will never be dull again. Great read! P. S. Mayor Storm Henderson🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Jessica and Brixton…🥰

This book was so good like always! I loved Jessica and Brix, they both had some major things to get over for sure. But since childhood they were meant to complete each other, this showed within the pages how the banter between each other just flowed like no time had passed. “Come be my good girl” 😱 definitely is a sum of Brix and Jessica’s relationship 😜. I loved how no matter the demons they both were fighting they knew they could go to each other and let it out and trust the other person had their back. So Brix definitely had me looking at him sideways with his reaction to that blessing 👀. Jessica had me looking at her sideways also 🤣. It was good to see the Henderson family and their antics. Uncle Storm is Uncle Storm 🤦🏾‍♀️ and you don’t want to change him at all. It’s so much that can be said about this book it’s just an overall great story. If you start Where is the Love you will not want to put it down for sure. This series has been amazing and I am looking forward to what happens with the next Henderson generation.

Where Is the 💕

This was a enjoyable story. Jessica had several options, her ex, Nate and of course Brix. I feel like she made the right choice her bond with Brix was unmatched. The Hendersons are a godsend and what they did for Brix was unheard of with people for themselves and the hell with everyone else attitude. And to read about people of color lifting each other up and wanting others to succeed as well. Kenny is a lot more open in this story, he really came through for Brix. WJ has come a long way, I use to not care for him but now he good peoples and a very smart businessman. Storm is still my favorite though cause he is a fool! 😂 I loved everything about this story and reading about Brix and Jess past as friends and them reconnecting only to find out they always wanted each other but thanks too her dad interference it took years for them to reconnect but Joseph didn’t stop nothing what is meant to be will be. Great job Monica love this addition too the Hendersons! I will be waiting patiently for Nate & Decaurey stories!

Make a choice...

Jessica and Brixton... These Henderson women don't waste no time jumping into bed these men. Some of them things work out well and then there's Jess with three men after her. When the first one broke her heart she didn't waste a lot of time trying to stick around to let him do it again. She moved on to the next two, Tyson (I believe that's the correct spelling) and Brixton. Tyson is hottie she recently met and Brixton she's known since childhood but always wanted as more than friends. They reconnect and become a couple but then he gets some bad news about his gym and his parents farm but when her family helps him out he becomes angry with her because he thinks she told his business. She runs and jumps into bed with Tyson but then realize he's not the one because she can't stop thinking about Brixton. She really needed to give herself time to get over the first relationship before moving on to two more. Good story.

Where Is the Love (The Henderson Family Saga Book 16)

Monica Walters this book was an Excellent Read. You gave us love and pain and passion with Jessica and Brixton. I like how you introduced us to being to proud and it can cause a haughty fall and that was Brixton. Most of us are to proud and we end up in awkward situations. Sometimes we lose everything we love. I don’t want be a spoiler but I felt sorry for Nate. I was glad you brought one of your characters back from your other books. I love when you do that. I love Noah. I love the Henderson and their one for all camaraderie but that darn Storm is a fool and my favorite of the Hendersons. I most definitely will recommend this book it’s a got to read everybody… Looking forward to reading more about the Hendersons and the younger generation…

JESSICA

I enjoyed reading Jessica's story. She has truly come a long way from years of the verbal abuse Joseph put her through. It definitely put a hinderance to her relationships. The actions of Declan didn't help Jessica either because she thought he was the one she could finally give her all to. Although there was an attraction between her and Nate, I really didn't see that going any further because Nate had his own issues he was dealing with. Now Brixton is the one that got away, but not this time. He was determined to get Jessica, and nobody was stopping him. I loved them together because it gave them a second chance to finally make up for the years they missed out on. Once again, the Henerson's are undefeated and came through in the clutch for Brixton and his family. Not only are they a tight-knit family, but they look out for those in need without hesitation.

They’re Baaaccck!

It’s always a good time when we return to Nome and the Henderson family ! Jessica and Brix’s story is a welcomed and well written return to our favorite country hood family. Jessica’s story really touches on how trauma from the abuse of a parent can really alter your views on love and relationships. Jessica wants to love but is afraid to live due to how she saw her moths and father’s relationship play out. Brix make a return to Nome and back into Jessica’s life. Monica know how to give a great story every time. Her ability to have her readers laughing out loud and shedding real tears is a testament to her storytelling ! I loved this story from start to finish !

Back to love

I enjoyed this story and it’s always a laugh getting to catch up with the Henderson siblings. I really liked that both Brix and Jessica grew throughout this story and realized the error in their ways and thinking and made adjustments so they could get to their happily ever after. I loved how sexually free Jessica was and that she didn’t allow her father’s negative words in the past keep her from exploring herself. I loved that Brix knew what he wanted and made every move to get his love and respected Jessica enough to let her find her way back to him without pressuring her to make a choice before she was ready. I’m looking forward to getting more books from this family as well.

Jessica & Brix, Love Has Finally Come at Last

I was so happy that Jessica finally made up her mind because that back and forth had me exhausted!!!…
Nate will definitely find the woman made just for him, it wasn’t Jessica!!!…Love the 2nd time around can be a wonderful thing!!!…
Storm knows he is a whole nut out in those Nome streets for sure!!!…His twins are going to give him a run for his money for sure!!!…
Brix revelation of what Jessica’s dad threatened him with was so disheartening and then for him to learn of the abuse she suffered in the house with him gave her a better understanding of!!!…
A great grandbaby and another baby coming!!!…I can not wait!!!…
The generosity that the Henderson’s extended to Brix and his mother had me so emotional!!!…

Who holds the key to her heart?

Jessica is a no nonsense type of girl. Especially after watching her mother endure so much heartache, pain and abuse from her father. She promised herself she would never allow herself to deal with those issues in her relationships. She really felt in her heart that Decklan was the one for her until he started acting different and very distant. Ending their relationship was hard to do but necessary. It took her longer than expected to heal. She ran into Brix; an old friend from high school and they realized they had deeper feelings for each other. Jessica was torn between him and Nate who was the rebound guy from Decklan. All three were trying to win her heart but only one was lucky enough to claim that spot

Pure 🔥🔥🔥

The way I danced when I found out we were getting another installment of the Henderson series, whew Chile! I was SUPER thrilled! 💃🏾🎉💃🏾

This was another juicy and heart felt read as Jessica went through some things in her childhood that followed her as an adult. I loved seeing her healing unfold and how she progressed to be able to let go and rest in love.

Loved all the appearances from the other family members, especially the cameo from the pending mayor of Big City Nome, TX... THE STORM Henderson. 😁💖

Very well done Author Monica Walters, can't wait to see what's next!! ✨🔥

Jess def had the sauce

Jessica was IT. She was confident and she made these men work for her affection. However, behind it all the years of verbal abuse from Joseph was enough to keep her from letting anyone all the way in. Decklan wasn’t ready for the love she was giving, and despite how sweet Nate was I could sense that the trauma caused by his mom would’ve hindered them eventually. Now Brix was it from the beginning. The finally got their chance to love openly with Joseph hindering them. I knew he was it was Jess after the first few chapters. I’m glad their hiccup wasn’t enough to alter their love.

All the feels

High school crushes, a meddling adult, recent heartbreak, Jess had experienced it all and didn’t think she’d ever find love, but Brit showed up and gave her just enough love and space for her to accept that she was worthy and capable of good love.

OAN: uuuuggghhh, not Noah appearing AGAIN. He and Sonya are my least favorite characters in all of Ms. Walter’s books. He’s so self-centered, going on and on about what David did for him, while poor Nate is drowning in depression realizing what he missed out on. Leave it to Noah to be oblivious to anyone else’s pain or needs. 🙄

My heart really broke for Jessica, loving someone and they treat b you like trash. Brix didn't know that his family was struggling so bad until the man came to collect 40 thousand dollars and his gym was struggling but to think Jess would betray him and tell his family business was too much he didn't like to ask for help and he pushed her to Hate who was really in love with her.... Decklan I wss sick of him you miss your water till your well runs dry. Glad Jessica found her happily ever after and my Boo Storm what can I say😂😂

Those Damn Hendersons

Brixton be that man! Jessica was that chick and she was not to be played with….that’s just that Henderson spirit! Keeping up with Hendersons has been a treat and once again, Monica did her thang! Braxton and Jessica had known one another basically she they were born. So much drama from the past keeps arising but they will not give up! A great read and lots of fun catching up with the family….I can’t wait for the next episode. What’s up with the matron of the family? Uncle Storm! What’s up with you?

A little torn

Jessica a Bros took us on a wild ride to love. For Jess to do what she did was so disappointing. I know that some would say she's single bit at the first time of an argument you go and sleep with another man only to realize you r heart isn't ok n it and you love someone else? So you say do it to me good because this will be the last time. In the meantime Grid told you he's always felt inadequate because of your father and then the unthinkable happens? Jess could miss me on this one. I'm glad I got my HEA though.

Got that old thang back!

Brixton loved Jessica for a long time. Even when her crazy daddy threatened him he still held a torch for her. Fifteen years later they get another chance but Jess is so guarded from her past hurts with her biological father and her ex Declan that she's scared to commit. I kind of wanted her and Nate to get together in the previous book but Brixton was really who she was supposed to be with! So glad they got their Happily ever after! Great read Monica and still enjoying this series!

Spread the love💗

First, this story was GREAT!!! It was full of love, drama, spice💦 and STORM😂😂.
Parents can really mess their kids up and my heart went out to Jess. Brix was exactly what she needed and I am glad they finally got it together. Although Jess got on my nerves with spreading the love, she definitely deserved the love she thought was elusive. Great job🙌🙌👏👏. We can never get enough of the Henderson!!!!!

Love is right here!!!

Oh yeah!!! This read had me in my feelings big time. Had me trying to pick a side...whew! Wanted to slap Jess and dem options she had a few times. Glad she understood the dilemma and resolved it. Internalizing feelings is real! I can relate. I used to keep things in and then let stuff blow off for days before communicating. I no longer do that!! So glad Jessica had her happy ending. Storm's campaigning, though......smh. God help Big City Nome!!

Apply Pressure

Phew Chile! Jessica was working my nerves a little being indecisive. She did have some great specimens to choose from. Brix came back in town applying pressure; even though he was briefly knocked off his game. Storm is the fool he always is with his crazy self. The Henderson’s support each other no matter what and the people they love too. Another great read Mrs. Walters.

Fabulous as always ❤️ 😍

As always, Mrs. Walters has done a wonderful job with one of my favorite families, the Hendersons. I'm happy for Jessica and Brix. Good friends have reconnected and have become lovers. I'm so excited to hear that more Hendersons and Nate will be getting a story. I am delighted to add to my Henderson's collection. As always, it's my pleasure reading your books 🥰

Mission Accomplished

Monica never disappoints. It was great to view both Jessica's strengths and weaknesses . I love how comfortable she is being a BBW and how she dated a few and felt connections before making a decision. So proud she sought professional help with the resentment she harbored for her deceased and living parent. Can't wait for the wedding. Brix seems like a great addition, the family definitely sees his worth .Storm for Mayor!!!!

Back to love

Happy that we were able not see Jessica grow into a beautiful smart grown woman! She had her issues ,but worked on them. Brix was perfect for Jessica. Grid was a proud young man and he was relateable, pride will cause a person to miss out on many things. Storm was storm, but I love uncle Kenny! Great ending for Brix and Jessica! The Henderson's were just as strong and supportive of one another!
