Intergalactic Terrorist
'Intergalactic Terrorist' follows Charlie Pinwright, possibly the most forgettable man on Earth, who, in the space of a few days, loses his job, has his flat rented out to a family of butchers and finds his girlfriend cheating on him with a Spanish cake decorator. Oh, and he is kidnapped by a crazy alien bounty hunter and sent into a new dimension full of strange worlds and even stranger characters, all who want to see poor Charlie dead!
Desperately trying to return home, Charlie finds himself a wanted man and is hunted by all the major powers of this new dimension, quickly becoming one of the most memorable men in the universe!
However there is much more at stake than his own life and he soon discovers that the fate of the entire galaxy may rest on his shoulders...

Charlie Pinwright is having a very bad day! First he loses his job then he gets abducted by an alien. It’s just the kind of thing that can put a crimp in your day. What follows is a hilarious race around the galaxy causing mayhem wherever they go.
The author made me laugh out loud often when reading this novel. You can’t help but draw an obvious comparison with the work of the late Douglas Adams but it’s clear that the author has his mind and his own style. An enjoyable and light hearted story from start to finish. There were some editorial issues that could have been tightened up but nothing that would spoil it for me. The story would have benefited from a faster narrative at times, some of asides distracted me a little from the main storyline. On the whole an enjoyable début and I’d like to see more of this kind of fiction out there.

If you’re looking for realism, you may want to head to a different aisle. Monahan is very like Douglas Adams in feeling but his story is in actuality quite different. When Charlie is mistaken for a robot the plot device makes sense to the reader. He got his job by being mistaken for someone else. His mother called because she found his number in her book and didn’t remember him. The dialogue is a bit stilted but how does one talk to an alien? Would a dictatorial human character in the book comfort an alien when he’s crying and try to help? To readers it may seem unlikely but this is a whacked-out reality and the ability to suspend disbelief is as essential and as logical as a one-eyed alien hooker whose pimp removed her other two eyes.
If there’s anything I like better than sci-fi/comedy, it’s meta-fiction. At the finish of this novel we get a healthy dose of meta-fiction that paired with the nonsensical nature of what we just read, makes for that shade of brilliance. It is time to break up with this novel and these characters and move to the next. Savor that satisfied feeling because soon you will experience the ups and downs of another read and another life. This is in no way a spoiler. This is the reality of the narrative just experienced. I cannot overstate how much Intergalactic Terrorist (New Dimension) was the right book at the right time for this reader and, to be fair, the sort of novel that is always the right book at the right time. If you are a fan of Douglas Adams, Ford Forkum or Jasper Fforde and, like me, you love the genre, head on out and pick this one up. Get to know Charlie in his moments of trial and moments of glory and let me know what you think of the most forgettable man in the universe.

I must admit, I'm not a huge Sci-fi fan, but when Joseph asked me to read this one, I couldn't say no. I mean, just look at the description.
Intergalactic Terrorist follows Charlie. He lost his job, then gets abducted by an hilarious, and I mean really funny, trouble making race of aliens. And it happens all in one day.
I got to give it to Joseph, There were actually moments that I laughed out loud. He has one of those writting styles that you can easily follows and enjoy. His characters and plots were so well developed that some might even read this a couple of times to catch some things you've missed out the first time.
The only thing that I didn't like was some editorial issues. Now I must say that I have a very trained eye for these sort of mistakes, because I'm an author myself and we push ourselves to concentrate on errors. I doubt that some readers will catch it, but if they do, it wasn't that major. It didn't spoil the novel for me like some other novels do.
The other thing, there were a couple of slow paced scenes that distracted me from the main story line. Did Joseph meant to do this, maybe. Usually authors that writes series, do that, and explain it further in detail with the second novel.
I'm going to give Intergalactic Terrorist a five star.

As I read this book, I found myself transported through the bounds of time and space. My science fiction loving mind was thrilled at the grand perspective that gradually narrowed through space and time to focus on the speck of dust we now call Earth. On this inconsequential planet, we are introduced to Charlie Pinwright, “possibly the most forgettable man on earth." This character clearly does not fit in on his world in any form, but continues to exist despite his comical rejection by his surroundings. A strange twist of events leads him to become abducted by an alien in a clunker space ship and set adrift in space with no possibility of returning to his planet of origin. Meanwhile, a great battle is being waged. The dwarves have captured a magic crystal from their orc adversaries. This crystal is of great importance to the magical community, but the realization that the very order of space has in some way been altered takes precedence. The simultaneous realization that the fabric of space has been changed drives the story forward towards even more fantastic and eyebrow-raising antics. This book is a ticket to sure-fire entertainment for any who appreciate sci-fi, high fantasy or thinly veiled humor!

I love, love, LOVED this book. It felt like I was reading something related to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is probably one of my favorite books of all time. Everything is crazy and absurd and funny. It's a really good time and if you're a fan of crazy sci-fi, this is definitely for you! On Goodreads this is listed as book 1 in a series and if there's a second, then I want to be first in line to get the second. Everything about this book is random, so don't expect anything to make any kind of real sense, but expect to have a fantastic time while reading this. I don't really know what else to say about this book except go get it! I'm gonna gush all over the place and say this was so much fun and the exact escape from reality that I'm always looking for! :)

I am currently reading this book for the third time! On the first reading I loved it, flew through the story with laugh out loud moments, the second one I enjoyed it even more as I gave myself time to really get into the characters. Third time, I am hooked! Its like one of those films that every time you see it you find something new, a bit of background that you missed the first or second time, a comment that makes you snigger (naughtily like a school kid with an innuendo). The characters feel like friends, for me its very easy to suspend disbelief and just go with the flow, I almost forget that there's aliens of many different species talking to mystical characters, its just funny, very clever and a thoroughly entertaining read!

This is an incredibly funny and original book.
You follow Charlie Pinwright (who I'm sure everyone will relate to in some way!) on this incredible and sometimes wonderfully ridiculous journey, meeting some memorable, lovable and very well thought out characters along the way!
J F Monahan has a very distinct way of writing that flows beautifully, removing us from this dreary world into his fantastical imagination!
This is a must for all lovers of anything sci-fi, or fantasy, or anyone who has a sense of humour...I guarantee this will make you chortle out loud!

This is quite amusing— a bit Hitchhiker's Guide, a bit comedy of errors. The edition I read does required some copy editing, though.
