Hunter Townsend loves his new home in the small town of Shadows Landing. It’s his sanctuary when he comes home from a mission as part of his Special Forces team. Maggie, the infuriating, monogram loving, bright color wearing, cuter than she should be woman, who loves to tease him was the only issue in Shadows Landing. Until a mission goes wrong . . .

Maggie Bell is an Olympic sharpshooter and is getting ready to go for the gold once again. She loved nothing more than letting the handsome, yet cocky Hunter put his foot in his mouth over and over again by not telling him she was a better shot than he was. He just kept digging that hole and she just kept smiling. While everyone groaned when Maggie and Hunter started verbally sparring, Maggie loved it. She’d earn Hunter’s respect when he saw her win gold. That is, if anyone finally tells him she’s in the Olympics.

But that all seems inconsequential when Shadows Landing becomes a target. Now will Hunter and Maggie put their verbal sparring aside and find the threat before they end up in the crosshairs?

Just when you think Kathleen Brooks can surprise you, she does. These Townsend brothers books just keep getting better and better. My fav part of this book that made me LOL was a conversation between Hunter and Damon about ED. I laughed for about 5 minuets.

Hunter and Maggie are so good together and their journey to bring out the best in each other is wonderful and fun to read. Hunter is so Alpha and Maggie on the outside so Barbie like, but underneath all that pink and purple hides the soul of a warrior. Of course Hunter's sister is not going to let the courtship of Hunter and Maggie easy, she is going to get her payback as on Olivia Townsend Granger can so. It was fun part of the book, and of course what can you say when the whole town gets involved in their relationship as only the town of Shadows Landing can do.

I'm always filled with a good feeling when i finish a Shadows Landing book, but sad because it has come to an end and then knowing that there is more to come... it puts the smile back on my face.
Great read and bravo Kathleen Brooks for another well done book. Can't wait for the next Shadows Landing saga of The Townsends and all the wonderful residents who reside here.

This started out on a high note. Interesting, intriguing, suspenseful. I did enjoy the narration. I always enjoy Eric G. Dove's narration. What I didn't understand was what happened to Landry? Once Italy came into play, he disappeared from the narrative.

I understood it was Maggie and Hunter's story, but when it came down to it, the political situation came to light because of Landry. I would have like more explanation about how he came to be in that position of discovering it. Maybe I overlooked it because I was listening to the book and not reading it.

Also, when Maggie had her moment of clarity, I don't remember her being there to have that memory. I thought it was Landry's wife. As much as I love audiobooks, it is not as easy to get back to a specific point to listen again as it is with a physical book or ebook.

I liked that Maggie's particular talent was highlighted. I thought the political story got a little convoluted. It actually reminded me of some of our current events. It also took me a minute to figure out the identity of some of the characters in Italy. I discovered it gives me three more books to read.

I did miss more of the interaction with the quirky characters of Shadows Landing. That is a guaranteed good time. I still felt it was an enjoyable listen. I am really looking forward to Damon's story, but I imagine that will be somewhere way down the line.

Hunter Townsend is part of Special Forces team and loves the military life. He ignores an attractive Maggie Bell as he thinks she is just a high maintenance, fluffy type. He doesn't know what everyone else in town does as he is too closed minded. Maggie is an Olympic sharpshooter and has been shooting since she was a child. Her family has a rich history in Shadows Landing a town that has it's heritage in pirates.

This is a crazy town with LOTS of quirky characters that are devoted and loyal to their own. Hunter rescues a local man Landry who has been lying to his wife (and huge bunch of kids) about having a military desk job but is actually working as team leader in dangerous situations. He is doing it for the money with such a large family and his wife has been in a lot of the other books.

When Landry is a almost killed on a mission the danger follows Landry and his rescuer, Hunter back to their town. Maggie saves Hunter from a gunman and Hunter FINALLY really sees her and feel like such a dumbass as the perfect woman has been in front of him all this time and he was too stupid to see it. Now he will need to grovel to get back in her good graces and save the Olympics from terrorists who plan to bomb the site.

With a flair for dramatic tension and irresistible character chemistry, Kathleen Brooks delivers a stellar sequel in her Shadows Landing series with Targeted: The Townsends #2. This time, we dive into the lives of Hunter Townsend and Maggie Bell, two characters so vibrantly painted that they practically leap off the page.

Hunter Townsend, our rugged Special Forces hero, finds tranquility in Shadows Landing's cozy, small-town charm. This peace is his solace, a sharp contrast to the adrenaline of his missions.

Maggie, the Olympic sharpshooter, is a confident and skilled competitor who relishes every opportunity to show Hunter that she is the superior marksman. Her Olympic prowess is a well-guarded secret, but she takes delight in teasing and taunting him with her abilities. Her playful banter and witty comebacks keep Hunter on his toes, making every encounter a thrilling showcase of her dominance.

As Hunter and Maggie aim to protect their beloved town, readers will root for more than just their survival; they'll cheer for a love story that perfectly captures the mark.

Kathleen Brooks has a knack for blending suspense and romance in a thrilling and heartfelt way. Her writing shines brightest when detailing the dance of attraction and rivalry, making Targeted a must-read for those who adore an excellent romantic tease mixed with heart-stopping action.

Fight for those apple pies!

The line between love and hate has become very blurry, and whilst Hunter doesn't want to want Maggie, he cannot get her out of his mind. Once he allows himself to look closer and really see Maggie, he cannot do anything but fall deeper and hope she will accept his apology and lots of grovelling!
I love Maggie, she is all pink and girly, super sweet and thoughtful, considerate and generous but feisty as hell, she has a sharp tongue that slices whilst she smiles and she is unbeatable with a gun.... Hunter's perfect woman.
Shadows Landing is crazy in the best way, with a pirate spirit that will never be crushed, amazing weapon skills and a huge family that will stop at nothing to defend each other.
I loved every page, it has seemed like a long wait for Hunter and Maggie's book as they have been verbally sparring through numerous Shadows Landing books, but this is only book two in the Townsend's series, we have Kane's book next, but it is Damon's book that I am looking forward to most.

A political thriller😃

Kathleen has weaved a tale straight out of the news and brought along our friends from Shadows Landing.

Finally Hunter has come to his senses..after being saved by Maggie, he learned not only about her shooting talents, but also, what a beautiful, successful, smart and caring woman she is. When he does, the only question is, will Maggie forgive him and asinine behavior. Maggie finally had Hunter where she wants him, groveling and beginning her for a second chance..of course, there's no real question. She likes him, cares for him, and is more than happy to grant him a second chance. When they find a credible threat to the Olympics and the world, both of their talents will be needed in order to keep everyone safe and the games moving forward.

Awesome story..Maggie and Hunter make great coup!e. We are introduced to 2 new power women , reunite with our shadow group team, meet a long lost Shadow Landings resident, cut off some balls, disarm a few bombs, and save the day. Always a great ride in Shadow Landings.

Maggie Bell and Hunter are like oil and water. They each go out of their way to antagonize the other. Maggie and the whole town have kept a secret at how good of a shot she is. That just seemed OTT and I had a hard time feeling sorry for Maggie. She was arrogant and sometimes just a bit too much for me to like. Her whole I have liked Hunter but he just didn't see me fell flat. She had ample opportunity to let him know the real her, and chose not to. Hunter did admit to his error in not judging her fairly but he did have some legitimate reasons. There were points in this book where Maggie came off cringy and not a southern bell at all. What happened at the Olympic Village that she took part in was not a good look for a woman of faith. The games Olivia played are just getting old. I wanted more out of Hunter's character and less of the dramatics. There were several editing errors which, again, is uncharacteristic of Kathleen Brooks.

i knew it’s romance novel, it’s not the real but somehow seeing all paint chinese is the bad guy shown how american seeing us.

yes, i m chinese, born to be, maybe we had a great development in the past 39 years, we have high tech technology, smart guys who learnt from the best universities n people then did have tin tok which almost every american spend most of their time on.

however, all political is dirty not said by me, by history, by karl marx, create a common enemy can create the unity, so that paints chinese in ugly.

don’t make the book become a political tool to share what inside your mind, stick to the original romance, suspense elements.

not as good as others

Waited for this book for a long time, and so disappointed in it. Several lazy editing errors that shocked me as KB usually has a perfect edition. The story line was ok but not enuff set in Shadows Landing. Story felt rushed and just off. Normally I cant put these books down but this one i had a hard time staying focused to read. Still love the characters which is why the 4 star, but again not enuff of the extra quirky characters to make it a typical SL book. Just overall disappointed.

Another good read from Kathleen! When we realized who the injured solider was it was a shocker. I really like Hunter and Maggie. The downside to this book was the build up. We as readers have known since the previous books that they were destined but Hunter well Hunter is Hunter! When the light bulb went off it went off quick. I absolutely LOVED Olivia in this book and the way she gets back at Hunter for all his blockages in her relationships. I love seeing all the characters from previous books and how they all blend so well. It is fun watching the Townsend men fall cannot wait for Kane!

What can I say. Kathleen Brooks did not disappoint. This is a book that I will read/listen to over and over. I love that it was released a little before the Olympics in Paris, perfect timing. There were secrets revealed, both strong male and female characters, and a little bit of danger thrown in. The best thing about Kathleen's books is a community coming together to help one of their own in times of need and protecting each other. Targeted had all this and Apple pie to boot.

Fantastic Read.

Kathleen has done it again. Hunter and Maggie have had a tenious relationship since Hunter moved to Shadows Landing. However what happens in this book will cause you some angst, hope, love and many other emotions from what happens. Several old friends from Kentucky and Virginia make appearances. The intrigue, love story and meeting of old and new friends makes this one of Kathleen’s best books.

If you love small town romance mixed with hilarious characters and suspense, then look no further than this book and author. I adore her stories that make both laugh and cry as I quickly turn the pages to reach the HEA. Every time I read one of her books, I swear they cannot get any better. Every time she proves me wrong. The hardest part is waiting until the next book drops. I assure you that they are worth waiting for. Enjoy!

Predictable

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was nice to see the merging of characters from various books. I say predictable because the theme seems to be the same. Also, I felt the flow of the book was slow. I normally read her books in one sitting but it took me longer because it did not hold my interest as other books have. It was good that Hunter finally came to his senses.

Wow another hit!

Kathleen hit the mark once again with this book. Hunter and Maggie are the perfect match. The story was great and kept me on the edge of my seat. I never saw the ending coming as far as who was after them, but I am so happy they ended up together. I cannot wait for Kane's story because I'm sure it will be just as amazing. I love that we saw more of the Shadow's Landing citizens and Lydia is one of my favorites in the town. This is a must read!

Targeted

I loved Hunter and Maggie's story. Once Hunter figures out what everyone else knows, he is smitten. Maggie has the Olympics to attend and the bad guys are every where! Very good read. Just like every other book in these series. I absolutely love that you get to see characters from other stories develop deeper and each story always holds a twist you won't see coming!

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Trope: Small town romance/suspense
Spice: 🔥.75

Synopsis: If the color pink was personified, it would be Maggie Bell. She is colorfully happy all the time, and she is exactly the type of woman Hunter is trying to avoid. Once Hunter finally opens his eyes to who she really is, he can’t look away.

Thoughts: Not as good as others. I liked how it started and then it fell off for me. I do love this quirky southern town and I am invested now.

Amazing story

Wow! So many tangled threads that spin this story. Hunter Townsend is a bit grittier than some of the other characters we have read, but that translates into lots of action. I was a bit disappointed in Maggie's past! Olympic bingo? Really? Seems a bit over the top for her! But a good read!

All the feels!!

Another great installment by Ms. Brooks! Small town charm, quirky characters, alpha males, strong women, and the right mix of "the feels". This book is the second of the series, but an addition to other series that cross over and build a community where you wish these little towns exist, and the characters are real. 10 out of 10.... Highly recommend!!

I loved it, I laughed, cried and laughed again. I raced through it, then was mad at myself for finishing so quickly so I read it again. I love the characters, it was great seeing more of the secondary characters getting more time in the storyline. I can’t wait for Rescued in October. Each series gets better and better 💕

Couldn't put it down AGAIN!!!

Once again an amazing job but Kathleen, loved how the couple got their act together early on and not at the end like other books I've read.

Reccomend not jus this book the whole of this series and everything else written by Kathleen, she never disappoints with the storyline, characters and details throughout.

A Man's Confession

We were all waiting on Hunter's book, and Kathleen did not disappoint. I had so much fun with him and Maggie. Seriously, talk about an odd pair that fit. I was with him on his thought process, but Mags was more than what met the eye.

It was fun how their first thought was each other. Now, don't get me wrong, I did cry. Only about twice. IYKYK!!!! Blythe!!!!

Another very good Shadows Landing story

Maggie and Hunter have been reluctantly attracted to one another for a long time. Hunter has no idea who Maggie really is until she saves his life. There are terrorists and the story all starts with someone from Shadows Landing that will shock you.

Kathleen Brooks never disappoints. Happy to be back in Shadow Landing and loving that we got a deeper dive into the Landry's. KB never ceases to amaze me the scenarios she comes up with and how they come full circle with all families. There's a reason she's my favorite author and I eat her books up! MUST READ

GOOD READ!

Another good story about Maggie and Hunter. Strong, tough Maggie sure put him in his place. Quick wit was good between them. Lots of suspense, although there was too many details about the countries and terrorists that made it hard to get through at times. As the usual characters came to support, the folks of Shadows Landing don’t disappoint.

Hunter and Maggie were meant to be in so many ways! We’ve been reading Hunter repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth with Magnum, until the town finally yanks it out for him. The book had me gasping, in tears, and laughing within just the first few chapters! Loved the crossover we experienced with this story!
