Wrapping up the series this fifth and final novella of the 'Kings of Disaster' brings resolution for Granite and Dissiri. If you have been following the series (not essential) you will know they are fated mates but only Granite is aware of this ~ their magic is incompatible, at least this is what they have been led to believe.
Dissiri's magic means that too much noise, too many people sends her brain and body into overdrive, she struggles to cope. Having to live with the Wind Fae and with a young baby in the household has been too much so she has decided to run away to stay with the Earth Fae, to ground herself again. Her plan is to ask Granite for a room for a few days. His advisers give her his room, unknown to either of them, for they have a plan...
Dissiri and Granite are forced to interact with one another and soon discover that rather than being incompatible their magic actually has the opposite effect, it calms and grounds them both, healing both their minds and bodies when they are together. Whilst they can accept this, Dissiri struggles to accept that no-one told her the truth.
Their growing attraction to one another, and not just because they are fated mates, cannot be denied but will they be able to set aside their equal stubbornnesses and admit how they feel?
I have loved this series, each book giving us the story of a different couple, with the others all making appearances too. This book is no exception, I loved it, loved the characters and the story. It's short, sweet, has a little angst and lots of romantic happiness, a perfect book to close a perfect series.

Desirii y Granite.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This series has five books. They are recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content. Each book in this series is steamy connected standalones and follows a different couple with their own happily ever after, and the stories can be read in any order (but recommended to read them in order for best understanding) for they each end with a lead-in to the next couple's book. This is the fifth and final standalone book in the Kings of Destruction series. This a story about a woman named Dissiri (Dove by everyone close to her and Lavender by her mate) and a man named Tremaine (only called so by his mate) and to everyone everyone else he’s called Granite, who is the King of Cliffs. She ran away to live with the earth fae for a few days, and ended up sleeping in Granite's bed. It's not as kinky as it sounds, at least, not at first; but then she learns why he's been avoiding her, and why he smells so good. Now, she has to decide, does she really want to go back home, or has she found the place she truly belongs? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to read the stories in the next series (Mate Hunt). I highly recommend to everyone.
Dove, aka Dissari, niece to Storm, is all grown up, however, her price for her earth magic is that she can’t take certain things like loud sounds, and since Storm and his mate just had baby Reeve, whom she loves, she just can’t take the crying. So she goes to the King of Earth, who took over from Quake, Granite. Growing up, they were only at the same place once, when she was 7 and he 13. Their magics harmed each other, even though Granite realized that she was his mate. They could never be together. So all those years later, the Kings and their families couldn’t all be together because Dove & Granite couldn’t be together.
Granite tells his friends who know about it, Eva and Crag to set Dove up in a room on the first floor. They put her in his suite. Lol Oh jeez, the misunderstandings, mischief and mayhem that ensue! A lot of revelations happen. There are some truly sad parts that made me want to cry as well as some absolutely hysterically funny parts that I almost fell out of bed. I truly enjoyed this series and can’t wait to see what the author writes next.

This is a novella and it is the last in the Kings of Disaster series. I will preface by saying, I haven’t loved this series but it has been okay enough for me to finish it. After reading this one, I think I know why I have been left disappointed by this series. It is overall lacking depth. I feel like Lola’s earlier books focused heavily on relationship and friendship building. These, this one in particular, just lack that. The descriptions were far better in this book than the rest of the series and I do feel like Dove had a personality of her own. But it is hard to follow when no recap is given of previous books and situations. I couldn’t remember what the “magical explosion” was and was frustrated to have to look back in the previous books. If you like an okay plot with stem and an HEA then these are for you. If you want more relationship and world building then you may not love it.
This is a great novella to complete the “Kings of Disaster” series. It’s set years after book 4 “Controlling the King of Floods” which had Granite meeting Dove at the end and recognising her as his fated mate. But their powers hurt each other so he decides to stay away from her so he’s the only one who suffers.
Her magic causes her to suffer when she’s overcrowded and in noisy areas. She’s sheltered in the Wind Fae palace but with Storm and Harper’s new baby she decides to stay with the Earth Fae, and asks Granite for a room. His friends are shocked when they are asked to sort it out but, knowing what she is to him, they arrange for her to have the best room, forcing the two to speak finally.
A beautiful ending to a great series (I loved the Epilogue). There is plenty of humour as well as love, misunderstandings, romance and friendship.

honestly? i really wish i could give this my normal 4 star review, but the length was just too damn short for that. while it was nice to get to know what happened with granite and dove after everything, there was absolutely no length to give them a proper telling of their story. it was incredibly quick and short and cut out what could have been a lot of good stuff. i like that their powers ended up countering out their pains, but with length we couldve gotten a proper explanation as to why that was, and why his power first hurt her when they were younger. there could have also been a lot more delicious fumbling about before she realized they were mates, but the length just didnt allow for any of that. it also felt weird not being clear on what their ages were imidiately at the beginning of the book - made it hard to stop picturing them as kids like ive been doing for the previous 4 books of the series

This was a short read that I absolutely loved and devoured. I was not ready for this series to end because I really wanted more of these characters. I loved Dove (Dissiri) and Granite (Tremaine). Their first encounter was painful but just because their magic was incompatible at a time when they were still young, doesn't mean that it's incompatible now that their adults. They might just be what the other needs to handle the pain that constantly nags them. I just know that they were exactly what I needed in this story. The chemistry between them was there and I was loving every minute of it. This story had me laughing out loud, it had moments of betrayal, possessiveness, sweetness, friendships, family and more. It was everything and it left me with a happy feeling after reading this. I'm definitely looking forward to my next book from this author because she really did not disappoint.
"I have always been yours, and always will be yours, even though we can't accept the bond."
4.5 stars!
I honestly enjoyed this story more than I though I would. I though it would be a bit awkward to read a steamy romance about two characters we had met when they were young--and it was--but I loved the way their relationship seemed to develop organically. The only scene I did not enjoy was when Dove gets drunk and is saved by Granite. Other than that, I loved Dove's strength and Granite's devotion to his mate. Ultimately, theirs was a sweet story and a satisfying ending to this series🖤
I think I've figured it out. Why Lola's work is always my go-to for a light, happy, read that is always EXACTLY what I need. In Bluhm just as in Vevol Lola has infused her love for the worlds and characters into her stories. This is the second time this summer I have had to bid one of her series goodbye, and again I'm not ready.
I was glad for her decision to age Dove and Granite, while seeing them going through a best friends into more phase would have been adorable, making them young adults allowed the story and steam to progress as I have come to expect.
Dove and Granite faced a bigger challenge with their relationship than the other couples, but honestly it just made their HEA all the sweeter.
I cannot wait to see where Lola takes us next.

In the final novella of the 'Kings of Disaster' series, Granite and Dissiri find their happy ending. Though only Granite knows they’re fated mates, they’ve been led to believe their magic is incompatible.
Dissiri struggles with her overwhelming magic and decides to escape to the Earth Fae for some peace. She plans to ask Granite for a room, but his advisers mistakenly give her his space, setting the stage for their unexpected reunion.
As they interact, they discover their magic actually calms and heals them both. While they grow closer, Dissiri wrestles with feelings of betrayal for not knowing the truth.
Their attraction is undeniable, but can they put aside their stubbornness to admit their feelings? This sweet, short read wraps up the series beautifully, filled with a little angst and a lot of romantic joy. I loved every moment, my only issue is that is was too short!
ME ENCANTÓ!
A decade ago, four kings of fae lands killed a fae who held immense power. The power settled on the kings when the old fae died, but on top of their existing well of power it was too much and drove them insane. Human women were abducted in hopes of bringing the kings out of their insanity with a mate bond. Unfortunately, the 7 year old niece of one of the kings was also close by and the magic settled on her too. She was too young to be brought back from the insanity with a mate, so she had to find her own way back. This book (a novella) is about her as an adult, navigating life after trauma and bonding with Granite, the new king of the earth fae and the ward of the previous king (who is retired, not dead). It’s a short but very lovely story of how they found each other.
This book took only a short time to read, but was very important as it tied the series up in a pretty little bow. It is several years after the kings found their mates and then finally Granite and Dove’s characters wrap it up nicely with their love story. A great way for all the HEA’s to be tied into a final happy ending!!.

Dove cannot relax in her own home and has to find somewhere she can find peace. She is drawn to Granite’s home and she doesn’t know why. Both Granite and Dove are super sweet and tiptoe around each other, especially Granite. This is a very romantic book and it wraps up the whole series nicely. It is great to see the other characters a few years later and find out what happens with them. Another 5 star book and a great ending to the series.
This is the bit that you always wish you could have with some series. Where you "know" what happens after the main couples have got their happy ever afters. Dove was such a huge part of it all that it would not have been right for her to not have her own story told and you cannot help but want to know what was in the future of the small boy King, Granite, who had been put upon while the people banished Quake. This has a fitting sense of closure.
I loved this series. Yes, I get that it was a bit of a leap to believe women transported from Earth would just "miraculously" not freak out. But this is fiction, and if you read the series, you will understand that the life these women had on Earth made them stronger mentally. After that leap it is just a great series with characters you love, and a few, :::cough::: Margo::: that you love to hate. In the end it is HEA , and a fun ride!
I absolutely loved this whole series. Actually, I’m not sure if I love the series or the Afterthoughts in all the books more (not just this series, but all the ones I’ve read). I feel like we get to know the author and mourn, rejoice and grow with her through each heartfelt note included. It’s an amazing author when they can not only write well, but also connect personally with readers. I can’t wait to read whatever world comes next.
Super quick book that ties up the last end for the two younger characters. I think this was a good transition from the other books in the series, and wrapped it all up in a great series end.
The main characters were funny and clearly had less trauma responses then the women and men we read about in the prior books.

Courting the King of Cliffs brings the Kings of Disaster series to a lively conclusion with this fifth book. The narrative is spicy, intriguing, and fueled by Fae mate complications that come to a head for leads Granite and Dissiri. A nicely written romantic fantasy that was an enjoyable short novella read.

This is the last book in the series of novellas, which book has been said about a different set of couples, this is the last, I have adored this series, and this is no exception, short, sweet and lots of romance, wonderful closure.

Couldn't put this series down. Devoured it all in less than two weeks. HEAs and all my favorite tropes. Loved getting to know each character and couple, respectively and see them grow and change. I'll be up to reading anything else by this author. She captured and held my attention. Highly recommend this series.
This was a cute short story. I enjoyed the wrap up of the series. At first I was not sure how I would feel about a story of Dove since I read 4 books prior with her only being six and I binge read this series but honestly the writer did a great job with this book. I transitioned well with the fact that they were older and I enjoyed their dynamic well. Perfect end to a great series.
Loved all 5 books in the series. Great character and world building throughout the series but I recommend reading in order to better grasp the world that the heroines find themselves a part of.
Would recommend to other avid fantasy, rom-com readers. Just the right amount of spice and angst
Not the way I hoped the series would wrap up. It was too short to be anything but a footnote and I had zero character investment. Dove doesn’t get angry enough about her family and mate keeping the mate bond a secret. This was a lot of telling instead of showing. Skip this
I loved this novella about Dove and Granite. I always wondered what would happen when they got older and seeing the updates from the other King's as well was fun.
