This little action pack read sets up the ongoing plot arc. The vampires of Europe wanting to come take over America. We get to spend a little time with Raphael and Cyn. Which is always great. Then we get some more time with Lucas and Kathryn. Kathryn and Cyn meet for the first time and there are some funny moments between those two. I love that they all call themselves the mates club lol. Also this book gives a small back story for Aden. Overall a good little read with a lot of info.

This one took us back to Cyn and Raphael, which is the best couple in the series. She's a complete smart-ass, so I love her. And, he's an unbearable alpha, but in the way that I actually like. I would like this series better if it was always the two of them, solving vampire crime or whatever. But, we are stuck getting new couples who suck each book.

Next up is a guy named Aden, who I already hate.

Oh, the rage review is forthcoming, my friends. Apparently, he is known as a misogynist to even these chauvinistic douche-bag vampires, so the urge to kill will be riding me hard during this next book. It's going to be the kind of stabbiness that can only be compared to spending holidays with extended, racist family members.

This will be me starting the book vs. finishing it.

My baby, Raphael, really knows how to get my pants wet, my heart pound and my head dizzy. I love him. I love everything about him. So you can guess that he is one of my top favorite book boyfriends. Man, he's one of the best. I love that man vampire so much. As for the story: it's good, but frankly? I don't give a shit about the other characters. I do though, miss Duncan when he was apart of Raphael's men. But Duncan alone, without Raphael? Not so interested.
“That’s acceptable,” Raphael said. “But, Lucas,” he added, his voice going cold and deadly, “once that’s done, we’re going to find out who was after us and why. Because, if there’s to be a hunt, I intend to be the hunter, not the hunted.”

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Paranormal Romance
Series: - Series, Book Six and a Half
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Lord Raphael, of course.
Would I read more by this author/or of series? - Yes.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes.
Will I read this again in the future? - Probably.
Rating - 3 stars.

I just L O V E Raphael! Cyn and Raphael remind me so much of Ryder and Syn from "The Fae Chronicles".. Which makes me want to re-read that series again too ;P And damn, I really, and I mean REALLY want a little Raphael and Cyn baby!! I seriously can't be the only one......?!?! xp

I KNOW these little novellas are filler but this is the first that FELT like filler.

I am a huge fan of Cyn and Raphael. They are one of my top paranormal couples, and I eat up their books like candy. However, this one didn't work for me as well as the others.

For one, I felt like 1/2 of the book was them having sex and it sort of got repetitive for me. I much rather read about scenes with more action, and I was more engaged during those parts of the story. While Cyn and Raphael have smoking hot chemistry, reading about the same couple having the same kind of sex in the shower or in bed over and over starts to feel a little mundane after some time.

I really enjoyed the introduction to Aden, who I can already tell is going to be a piece of work. I'm excited to see the woman who shows him a thing or two!

All in all, I mildly enjoyed this one, but mainly because I'm in love with Raphael and Cyn.

I read this ages ago as I'm a huge fan of these vampires that have a unique world that they rule. It's only when I downloaded the complete collection as I've missed a couple that I realised I'd never shared my enjoyment so here is my albeit short review.
It's a simple story essentially as Raphael and Cyn take a trip to conflab with Lucas about the upcoming council meeting in Chicago and the repercussions that follow a certain vampire lords death. Yet even in this short novella there's a lot going on as greed and treachery not to mention jealousy sends danger towards the ranch where Lucas lives. As usual Cyn wants to jump in but her ever cautious lover Raphael will do anything to protect the woman that reminds him what it feels like to be human. Still it's hard work controlling Cyn and you just know that bloodthirsty woman is out to get anyone who threatens her vampire mate!
This book introduces Aden and initially his attitude gets right up Cyns nose and no mistake. As a filler it's still full of the hot romance this author is known for but do not dismiss it as just a quick read because a lot goes in here . Yes I thoroughly enjoyed reading this again and happily recommend this series

I started to rate this book 4 stars because it's a short novella, not a full length book. But I just couldn't penalize it for that as it earned a full 5 stars from me.

Bridge over troubled waters . . . that's what comes to mind when I think of this Vampires in America novella. The Who's Who of vampire lords are gathering to oversee the competition for a new Lord of the Midwest territory. There's unrest & trouble brewing in the air, deceitful deals being brokered, and attempted murder. Someone is desperate enough to make several attempts to stop Raphael & Cyn from reaching Chicago. Raphael is just as determined to turn the hunter into the hunted - with his mate Cyn's help, of course.

Hunted may be small in the number of pages, but it is packed cover to cover with suspense, vampire politics, humor, and hot, hold nothing back sex! Did I mention it is HOT? Love getting more Raphael & Cyn as they are the foundation of the series for me and in this book, we see them working, playing, & loving side by side. I also enjoyed watching their interaction with Lucas & Kathryn as well as the girl talk between Cyn & Kathryn. Aden enters the picture as a contender for the vacated Lord of the Midwest position - oh my - another bad*ss, cocky vampire strutting his stuff. More please! Hunted is the perfect vehicle for transitioning from Lucas into Aden - truly a bridge over troubled waters. Another Page Burner in this awesome series! A Must Read!

This was a novella as competition begins for a new Lord, Lucas' former lover and assistant who he reassigned when she showed her jealousy of Kathryn returns and attempts to kill Kathryn/Cyn. We meet Aden who's proven to be an asshole and we get more Raphael and Cyn which is always a win.

My Thoughts - 4.5 out of 5 unicorns - I like-loved it!!
***Received the ebook for an honest review from the publisher

The cover is not my favorite one, but I still like it :)

This is a novella from Vampires in America, and I think it should be read after Lucas, but before Aden just because you get details about what happens in between these books. It is nice to be reading and not wondering what the characters are referring to, so I highly recommend reading it so you don’t miss out. This is a quick read under 100 pages. This as well as the whole series is for adults only as there is steamy scenes and violence.

D.B. is an amazing author. The storylines, world, and characters she creates are complex, action packed, and just awesome to read. She is one of my favorite authors of Vampire Romance with her on the shelf is Lynsay Sands and Kerrelyn Sparks. Of course these are my favorite and opinions ;)

As always I was pulled right into the story, and I love the dynamic between Cyn and Raphael. Of course, I think I love Cyn’s interaction with everyone, and she always makes me laugh. There is a mix of steamy scenes with her and Raphael, and of course danger mixed throughout. I can’t wait to read Aden :)

I highly recommend this whole series to Vamp Romance lovers especially if you already love D.B., and I think if you like Lynsay Sands and Kerrelyn Sparks that you will definitely like Vampires in America too :)

My rating:4 out of 5 stars

"I come from a time when women were chattel to be traded away for economic or social gain. But even I am not so backward that I continue to discount the integrity of women, not to mention their courage and intelligence. Lucas has told me you have issues with females. That is your history, your prerogative, your foolish prejudice. But when you let that prejudice interfere with serious affairs, with matters of life and death, that is ignorance and stupidity. My mate is worth a thousand of you. If she were a vampire, you would be calling her Lord of the South. Remember that before you think to insult her again, or the next time I'll go ahead and let her kill you."

~Raphael

Yep, that right there is why Raphael both on his own and with Cyn continues to be one of my most absolute favorite characters in the genre! He is the epitome of "ALPHA MALE" but never, ever is he reduced to a simple asshole. I can only speak for myself but there is a HUGE difference for me, it can easily be a make or break and yeah, Raphael makes it, each and every time!

Fans of the Vampires In America series will love, LOVE this installment. Raphael and Cyn together continue with their perfection. Ms. Reynolds packed quite the steamy punch in this one, given it's a novella. I mean chapter one alone...WOW. We are also reunited with Lucas who is also one of my person favorites in the series. I love his relationship with Raphael and his quirky personality. He has some tense moments in this one to remind the reader that he too is just as lethal.

The competition for who will be the new Lord of the West is underway and newcomer Aden thinks he's the man for the job, it pains, PAINS ME to think that we have to wait until late this year for his book but something tells me it will be worth it!!!

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤
VERY GOOD: The characteristics of a 4 star book include: a great story; I loved the characters; and there was an interesting plot and unique story elements; there may have been a few odd things kept the story from being amazing. I would read it again and I would recommend it to a friend.
My Thoughts:
For those of us who need a regular Cyn and Raphael fix, these novellas are the perfect bite sized snacks between the full length releases. Hunted nicely ties together story from elements Betrayed and Lucas and provides a perfect introduction and setup for Aden.

Hunted provides critical information for readers of the Vampires in America series. We have known that something BIG has been brewing in the past couple of books but Reynolds finally provides us with an inside scoop about what is going on and why Raphael is amassing his allies on the vampire council.

As with all of the ViA books, Hunted did not disappoint. We get to see Raphael in all of his sexy alphaness and Cyn in her stubborn sassiness. I like how Reynolds paired Cyn and Raphael with Lucas and Kathryn in this story. Although Cyn and Kathryn are contemporaries in their dispositions, Lucas and Raphael could not be the further from each other when it comes to their overall dispositions. However, one thing that they, and all vampire lords, have in common is that you. do. not. touch. what. is. theirs. EVER! Not their territory; not their progenies; and definitely not their mates. Doing that definitely brings the vampire lord persona to the fore and they are merciless. In THAT, Lucas and Raphael are very similar.

In Hunted we are also formally introduced to Aden. Dear sexist Aden! I cannot wait to see what Reynolds has in store for his mate. I hope that he gets a mate even more strong-willed than Cyn. Hehehehehe! I'm going to enjoy reading his story............is it October yet?!?!? *Dramatic sigh*.

Another brilliant installment from Reynolds and I love the direction she is taking the series. Although it's getting darker because of the tone of what is to come, she keeps it fun and always sexy with the character interactions.

Character Line Up:

Cyn Leighton

Mariska Hargitay is how I envision Cyn in my head. She's tough as nails but has a heart of gold and is pretty to boot.

Raphael

David Gandy is how I envision Raphael. *Sigh* I know...I know! People use his picture for EVERY character *LOL* but he is my Raphael because of his intensity. He commands you to look at him with the intensity of his stare and I imagine that THAT is what a vampire lord could do to you :).

Raphael. Oh Raphael. You could feature in a story about brushing your teeth and I'd give it a five star. Cyn. Amazon warrior queen. You give me hope that IF vamps actually did exist they could never take over the world as there would be women like you around to kick their ass and bring them to their knees.

This is a filler novella to bridge "Lucas" and "Aiden" (Aiden is scheduled to come out in the fall of 2013). I was happy to see that Cyn & Raphael are back to being edgy but definitely the power couple of the vamp world. Of course that comes with the most excellent delicious drool worthy sex that has the ability to result in spontaneous combustion of your e reader if you're not careful.

This was a basic tease for us poor fans of the series to whip us into a fever pitch until "Aiden" is released. Which it did. But. I really can't recommend this as a standalone read for anyone not familiar with the series. Past, present, and future characters are in this read so not knowing the different dynamics and body counts will result in a reader really getting lost. Only a fan of the series will get that goosebump reaction when Raphael says: "my Cyn."

It was nice to see Lucas and Kathryn again but I wasn't happy to see that there are unresolved issues between the two. I want my characters to have their HEA ending once they are featured in a full length installment. Haven't they suffered enough. lol.

And Jared. I am lovin the pairing of Cyn and Jared as friendly enemies on the same team. I KNOW it's just a matter of time before Cyn hands Jared his manly parts in a jar but I really hope not in the near future as I'm really getting a kick on the sarcasm and zingers between the two. Ok. So maybe Cyn is pretty much doing it solo to Jared but his silence is interpreted by me as snarky.

Lastly. Aiden. All I can say is: "The Challenge Has Begun"

to be continued...........

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
*eARC received from the Author via NetGalley

I'm a VAMPIRES IN AMERICA fan and I'm not afraid to admit that there has been many a time where I was a squeeing fangirl. Loving to get lost in this world like I do, it seriously feels like forever between stories and I long for another foray into the crazy wonderfulness that is ViA. This novella was WELL worth the wait!

A super sexy read with plenty of action & intrigue, the meeting between Cyn & Kathryn that I've been clamoring for (which incidentally has amazing promise for more fun from our Mates Club! Woot), and a reveal of the reason behind the vampire lord alliances that have been building book after book (yeah, big secrets revealed).

Bottom line, it was so, so good, and highly recommended!

While Hunted technically could be read without having read the rest of the series, I wouldn't recommend it. There is just so much to be enjoyed in the previous installments, and the character evolution between the books up to this point in Hunted is quite remarkable. Take the time, lose yourself. You won't be disappointed!

I do love this series. I eagerly await each new release and I devour them. Have done ever since I discovered the terrific Raphael. Why do I "devour" them? Because they are well written, the MC's are always interesting and the women are generally very strong characters as well. These vampires are powerful and fierce, and they do not muck around with their opposition, they destroy them. There are interesting political machinations when they deal with one another and humans. Loyalty is expected and they are incredibly territorial. To top it all off, they are downright sexy. Full review at On Top Down Under Book Reviews - http://ontopdownunderbookreviews.com/...

Hunted by D.B. Reynolds
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Suspense
3.5 Stars

It was okay.
Would have been better if there was more action and suspense. To many words wasted on too many sex scenes. I like hot steamy adult scenes, but these seem to rely way to heavily on them. It takes away from the characters and the story itself.

I would use the word Overindulgence for these stories.
They could have been used to enhance world build.

*sigh* I do not read this series for the porn. Really. I get it that Cyn and Raphael have a passionate relationship and go at it like bunnies just about everywhere. After I have skimmed through the sex scenes, often the plot and characters are interesting. Since this bit is a tie-in to Aden's book, we get a taste of him to intrigue us. So, carry on. But please keep it interesting.

A great short story—Cyn and Raphael are on their way to Chicago for the competition (fight to the death type) to find the new Lord of the Midwest—there will be war and Raphael is gathering his alliances—the storyline just gets better and better—good to see Lucas and a great intro to Aden

Yummy! I love Raphael and Cyn. Never disappointed. Lucas and Kathryn is also a fun couple. I missed that they are not mated. Surprised by Lucas’ patience. I think we need another “Mates Club” adventure. Aden is interesting. I may reconsider reading him. His feeling towards women has put me off, but we’ll see. Highly recommend. Raphael’s crew have so many different personalities. Always a fun read. One of my favorite series. Enjoy!

My good buddy Paris tells me, this novella is like Ice Cream....once it is gone...it is gone, but you enjoy it while you have it. In other-words, it is not meant to be earth shattering, life altering or intense...just a few licks of happiness in between meals.

I, being a notorious Novella-hater, really did not see where this furthered the story in any way. I love Raphael (and yes, it is nice to bask in his presence once again)...but I can not say I am over the top excited by what we saw in this little story. To me it is the beginning of Aden's book just read which was put into a novella. (with alot of Raphael & Cyn thrown in.)

I thought it was interesting that Raphael revealed that Cyn had destroyed Jabril out loud....he told her that if anyone ever knew she would be killed. Interesting that he thought it the right time to reveal it. One, he is either overly confident in himself to protect her or two, he really trusts Lucas & Aden. Hmmmmmm.....

And I think the best part of this was the end where Raphael tells Aden himself, rather chillingly, that if he is not with Raphael that he will kill Aden himself...Nothing is going to stop him from putting together the American Alliance against the European Vampires. That was the most aggressive we have seen Raphael with any of the American Vampire Lords to date....the story is ramping up.

Good story? Always....Great Characters? Absolutely.....Word to sum it up? ADEN....Bring it on!

What I simply adore about D.B. Reynolds is that each installment of her Vampires in America series just keeps getting better and better. So many times an author adds in too many characters and once it has been awhile you can’t remember who anyone is. Not with Reynolds. Her characters are solid and memorable. I instantly know who they are and what relation they are to others in the vampire world.

Hunted is a great break between books. This novella has us reconnecting with all that is Raphael, the Vampire Lord and his lubimaya, Cyn. Hot doesn’t even begin to describe it. Hunted is packed with steamy sexiness that is the vampire lord and his Cynful ways. Lemonade and a fan are essential tools while reading.

We also get to visit with the lovable and playful Lucas and his acushla, Kathryn. The banter Cyn and Raphael have about inducting Kathryn into the Mates Club…. ((winky face)) Aden is also introduced and we get a glimpse at the vamps personality and perhaps some shortcomings. I think he has the potential to be a really great character and I am super excited to see you Reynolds has planned to bring him to his knees. (Aden will be out later this year)

We also get some throwback to Cyn’s work ethic and kick ass persona. Cyn and Bobbi never fail to impress and lighten a mood with their sass and demeanor's.

What else can I say other than Vampires in America fans are going to LOVE Hunted.

I love this book as much as I love the others. Cyn and Raphael world will always be an awe. In this novella, we finally found out what Raphael has been planning all along, the alliance with the other Lords. Vampires in Europe are about to start a war, taking over the Vampires in America, their lands and everything. Raphael is helping and controlling and giving a hand to the new Lords who took over states in America. Dethroning the weakest Lords and placing a strong Lords that will stand by him and fight the upcoming war. We also met Aden's true color in this novella, he sees women are beneath him *chuckles* I hope the woman he will meet soon will give him a hell of time and show him how women are superiors as well.

digital edition actually

Usually I find something to like in novellas of my favorite series, but for this series half of the novella is more often than not devoted to "My Cyn & Raphael" having sex, or talking about having sex. And many, many scenes are just transitions to sex. Steamy sex but too much of a good thing is just boring.

Between the smexy parts this short is a pretty good set up for Aden as he prepares to become a Lord in his own right. Aden was quite gruff and dismissive of females until he learned a stiff lesson. That women are endowed with not only beauty but intelligence as well. I look forward to his personality change in his own release. There's also a visit with Lucas & Kat and more background on "My Cyn", giving an opportunity for Cyn & Kat to shine a bit.

Hunted comes after Lucas' takeover and before Aden's, its where Lucas introduces Raphael to Aden, but there are others still ticked off over Lucas' takeover and when they make an attempt at Kathryn and Cyn is near by they make a huge mistake, as everyone knows, no one puts Cyn in danger and lives, and of course Cyn has to investigate it herself :-) and the battle begins as Raphael, Lucas and Aden confront the one who has been endangering them.

Hunted is a great bridge between Lucas and Aden and it gives us just a tiny more insight into what lays ahead in The Vampires In America Series.
