“The Great American Eat-Right Cookbook: 140 Great-Tasting, Good-for-You Recipes” by Jeanne Besser and Colleen Doyle provides a wonderful array of simple recipes. There are divisions into the major categories of dishes (including the all-important desserts, lol), plus practical lists of ingredients and suggestions for ways to add palatability and health benefits.

This cookbook published by the American Cancer Society is nicely laid out with clear information on how many a dish will serve, prep time, and total time required to prepare the dish. Even better, nutritional information is broken down in the lower corner of the page, plus there are helpful tips on many of the recipes.

Not only have I made conscious attempts to prepare our meals so that they enhance our health, I also have several folks in my life who have various medical issues who will benefit from the addition of some of these dishes to their diets. I look forward to exploring how I can experiment with the various recipes to tailor them to our individual tastes and preferences. I think that anyone who cares about eating more healthy will benefit from the information provided in this book, and even better, most recipes have a conservative number of ingredients and a short preparation time—perfect for all of us in this busy society.
