Yvette Williams is a fellow Zumba instructor and I've also participated in classes led by her. I've heard her sing in person, and on youTube at the Schwarzenager fitness event in Columbus every year. Her poetry speaks about her struggle and a life that has seen too much pain. The most glaring bright moment in her poetry is saved for her two daughters. Mainly free verse, often hinting of song lyrics which she also writes, Diva tells the story of her life thus far, on her own terms. It was too much to read too much in one sitting; so full of struggle and pain. It feels like I know her more intimately after reading this.
